Ah yes memory Lane is a good trip . Remember being 15 and walking down to my carp venue also . Great times . sometimes I would take a bike . Same as you , with backpack and rod . (not even a net ) Enjoyed the write up . Thanks and cheers John

I know....it's kinda tricky....because it's not even an official NJ record....you would have to kill the fish to claim the record (stupid)
and like I said somewhere else.....all the records in all different states I will bet that till a few years ago that the fish was not released alive

I'm aware of you he is , I asked the question to try to establish if it was a CAG all time record( which it is not) , North american record ( which it is not) But nj state record , ( It is!!) But biggest in N.A. nope ( as claimed by ivan ), research archives and 5 bigger have been documented .

To tell you the truth aren't all records modern????? In its time the steam engine was modern , Just like the methods of anglers from years gone back .

But don't ask me to define exactly what a "modern carp angler" (MCA) is because it does sound kinda funny I must admit lol. But I standby the claim that it is the largest by a MCA.
To me it sounds like a self given made up tittle to Claim a record .. There are NO records Archives on earth that differentiates records by the level of the anglers technology . Only differentiates between , bow , rod and line. And some dont even do that . Either or, it's still an impressive catch , one I'd be happy to hook . Just not the biggest ever .

There have been larger fish landed in the US on rod and reel, at least according to some state records, but it is a massive carp!

You're right, there are much bigger fish that have been murdered by lunatics. But the DC carp is the biggest I know of taken by rod and reel and weighed officially....I think it was once an IGFA record for carp. There could be bigger official records in the USA but I don't know it. But you're right, NA has some freaks of nature out there for sure waiting for someone to catch her!
The 67 was a criminal act jmho A true trophy murdered for attaboys , but on a better note the 65 was sent home I believe . Oh yeah , please dont be harsh with the lunatics stuff , I'm a certified lunatic and even I frown upon them ( bowguys). There are good crazies , Then there are those who are so beat down by life they are willing to destroy a great creature for the sake of a pat on the back . .
