well done that man!!!!! I picked up a carp mag to read on the plane about a year ago and it had an article where Mr Locke had a trailer or motor home and was driving down to this lake so he could fish and have a nice time with the family, not a bad way to catch a monster.

Did you get that mirror in NorCal? How long are you in Northern CA? There is Derby on the 27th at the Marin Civic center with the norcalcarpclub, if you can come let me know.
I don't have much time to fish Minnow, always on an airplane. Great reading your reports
Nice mirrors Phil
Here's a little Mirror Koi, orange with big golden scales,

most of the time all you need to do is stop the line from running off the spool just before the lead hits the water, then feel the lead down. Bit of practice you can get the lead to land nice and soft and you can feel what the lead landed on, hard or soft bottom. Works with a helicopter or simple lead clip, I wouldn't use an inline lead, the front of the lead will probably bury and the hooklink fold back and not sit right.
You can also just pull the lead out of the silt, pva bags are good, stop the line again before the bag hits the water, the bag will sink slowy to the bottom.
When you wind in, smell your rig . If it stinks, you are probably in too deep or in a rotten patch of silt, not good,
the helicopter rig described sounds OK, never tried it,
hope this helps,
