  1. one time I was fishing alone on town lake in the evening and a scary guy appeared hiding in the bushes behind me, looking quite agitated. After a while he took off fast,

    B) next thing it was like an episode of cops, I was lying on the floor face down being patted down by one cop while the other pointed his gun at me. Once they let me get up I explained I was fishing and the guy they were after was probably the one in the bushes and took off in that direction. One of the cops stayed with me for my protection as the suspect they were after was armed and dangerous B)

Anyway my bodyguard netted a fish for me while the search continued B) A while later they got the guy, but no gun, I then spent the next hour with the police searching the bushes for the missing gun, we didn't find one. It was quite exciting, I understand police have a difficult job to do, but having a gun pointed at you by a policeman who's been eating donuts and drinking coffee all day is not good B)

  2. I tend not to say much about what I catch as I tend to feel a bit guilty about disturbing the fish after I catch them. I spend much more time watching carp than fishing. I'm always worried about my fishing causing more people to disturb the fish and the possible consequences. Posting a few pics of a nice fish every once in a while helps gain some respect for out favorite fish I think. Funny everyone has their own slant, maybe I should give up fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!

    B)

  3. This is a picture of a cove behind the headquarters of the event. No one fished this cove but it gives a picture of just how the loke looks.

    More to follow.

I like the look of those weedbeds, I guess all the activity must of pushed the carp out of range, anyway looks like a great place to blank. I've always thought blanking is very underrated,

  4. managed to get out for a few hours this evening, found some carp bubbling in the margins. Caught one just as the light was fading, couldn't quite believe what I was seeing when it went in the net, if I'd seen it sooner I probably would have screwed things up and lost it B) . Perfect old chesnut linear with a huge tail B)

  5. hey koi, nice fish..

Out of curiosity, are you from Virginia?? I'm noticing that a lot of the carp posted by Virginia anglers have that strong orange hue in their tails...?

nope, this fish was a bit of a 1 off, haven't seen any others like this where I was fishing. One of the big pluses fishing for carp is the variety of fish you catch, all shapes and sizes, wouldn't mind some more mirrors B)

  6. Terry

I now have a bait boat and a proper boat with engine thanks to Tim B, so that venue in particular will be bust wide open next year with some luck, (baits will be placed in places that have never seen baits before) along with a few others venues I have earmarked for the boat.

Real sorry to hear about your back trouble, I know from experience it is no fun at all, I ruptured a disc back in the military days jumping out of moving transport B)B)B) Fortunately I got it fixed and have really never had any problems since, the best thing I did after the surgery was build a lot of muscle around the site of the injury, it supports it much better (or did before I became this fat ba$tid, when I moved over to the land of plenty burgers!!!) Get well soon mate!

Thanks for the kind words about the business, it has been a struggle sometimes overcoming some of the crappy petty vindictive stuff, but it has certainly opened my eyes to the whole carp fishing game and some of the wannabe players over here B) It has made me a much stronger individual too, not that I needed that B) , but I now see a lot of things differently to the days before I started it all. Running a business here in the States is wayyyyyyy different to doing it in the UK.....I have done both, successfully (I actually run 3 different business here in the US) and there are so many things that differ between the two countries.

Say Hello to Felicia from myself and Carol, and I will see you guys on the bank somewhere I hope.

    Karl

P.S. Yeah I did hear about Keiths accident.

that boat has mojo, you need to use it before it wears off. If you are not catching I recommend a fry up and pot of tea, should get the reels moving B)

  7. Here is the rig.

Be sure to set the float stop at *twice* the depth of the water your fishing, as the float is just for showing the fish's position.

And try not to gut hook the fish like most gar anglers do, if your not going to be eating them anyway.

Rope lure don't work will, or if at all on Alligator gars. They are made for the more toothy, Longnose gar.

That "3 wheel thing" is called an aqua cycle, and no, I don't fish from it.

The bigger ones put up a awesome fight, but the small ones will put up a ok fight but just let you pull them in for the most part.

    GG

thanks Ghost, looks a bit like the rigs I've used for Northern Pike, again great fish!,
