  1. was back fishing my old spots from a few years back at the weekend. Only caught 2 fish, stalking with a float rod in the side, but they were both memorable fish, also missed out on a nice mirror. The pic of the first one isn't too good, ran out of batteries after the first snap with the fish in the water. Next morning I caught the weird looking one just before going to the airport

  2. Thanks guys,

I am still walking around with a smile on my face from that fish.

I cazn't wait to get to Austin for the first time, I hope to get my new PB's for commons and buff's down there.

Nice fish, you should definately try austin, both town lake and lake austin. With you guys having all the buff knowledge, it would be interesting to see what you would catch.

  3. Anybody have much experience on the Canadian side? When you search the internet, there are guides over there posting pics of 40's fairly regularly with the odd 50 here and there. If you look at the pics, atleast to me they seem legit. Are they just across the other side of the river or is that at different part of the St Lawrence? What's with the bigger fish, just more people chasing them, better places to fish? or is it about the same as the US side?

  4. Only been there once for a few days, but for anyone thinking of going, it's great. Best thing to do is forget about the "big fish" this, "st lawrence is dead" that and just do what Tiger did, show up and have a good time. If you are new to fishing a giant river to get a head start, I would stay at a guide's place. The St Lawrence is one of those places where you can find such a nice spot to fish, that it doesn't really matter what you catch and who knows you might end up with something huge

  5. post-59-1119460661_thumb.jpgover on the eastern edge of town is a pine forest that rises up into the hills. In this area there are some of the old rinzai zen temples dating back to the 1200's. Rinzai zen was what the samurai warlords were into and some of them probably used to hang out here and relax, contemplating the fleeting nature of life before heading back out to slaughter another 10,000 of their enemy's clan :D
  6. just an update, no response yet, but based on some info I received from some cag members the organisers of the last wcc all part of the ICFA (international carp fishing assoc. ?). Also most of them will be at the WCC this week, so I've mailed them and asked a few people attending to help out.
