  1. here's one of the swims I'm fishing, have to have a reliable motor, if you breakdown on the outgoing tide you'll be in Hawaii before you know it :D

anyway that thing out slashing around in the water is a sealion :D , can't seem to get rid of them :D guess I'm having a rough year with all these critters, atleast the pigs didn't eat the carp :D

  2. someone seems to have done a number on my computer :D

If I work it out I'll post a few more pics. Bit more info: we spent the week up on lake austin exploring, fishing for buffs. Ended up catching loads of carp up to high 20's. Turned out Richard Gardner was just as big a hauler as Pat so I ended up netting fish all the time :D . Think I managed to catch enough to salvage my pride, but only just. Quid and Nigel fished town lake, they caught plenty of fish, Quid had a 30 and Nigel caught a mirror. The last day Pat suggested everyone fished some open bank on the bottom end of town. Think everyone caught some fish, Brian and Nigel caught lots of them. Just had that one run at the end of the day that turned out to be a big one. It was caught on a very simple running rig, single rock hard old rosehip isotonic boilie with a size 8 hook. Not really a run, the line just pulled tight. Think it might have been too hot for the buffs????????? we totalled zero :D

  3. here's a group shot, from left to right:

Quid, me, brian nordberg, pat kerwin and richard gardner.

Eurotackle Nigel was on the camera.

Richard Gardner is a big friend of Quid's, he caught loads of fish, he's the guy behind Gardner tackle, the original rod pod, boilie rolling tables etc.

It's great to catch the big one but it would have been cooler if Quid or Brian had the luck :D

  4. Just got back from a trip to texas, had a great time as usual. This year we were fishing lake austin and trying to catch some buffalo. Loads of carp were caught but mr buff had us totally beat as usual. On friday the last day we decided to have a social and try Towne Lake on a big open section of bank, with plenty of room for everyone. Anyway while everyone was catching all I could do was demonstrate finely tuned blanking skills and an ability to fish the far bank :D.

We were due to go out for dinner at 7pm, was just starting to pack up when I landed this monster :D

  5. Beautiful pictures. I really love float fishing. I had ordered a Shakespeare Lincoln from WMAC in early Sept. About a month later I learned that they had lost my order and just found it. I cancelled the order, but plan on getting one of these reels next spring.

    Regards,

    Chris.

hope things work out with the centrepin chris, it can be hard to find a good one for a low price these days. Mine is an old grice and young, they were kind of the "working man's" 'pin of the day, you used to be able to pick them up for 20 or 30 pounds, I guess these days they are catching on again and the prices went up. You see them on ebay sometimes, or you might want to search around steelhead sites on the net. You don't need a real fancy one or carping but those young's ones look great, would really like to try one :D

  6. guess I'm with king on the distorted picture scene. Those big fish start to look a bit stupid with those wide angle shots. They would look much better with a normal shot and still massive. Hope to catch a 50+ one day. My little digital seems to have a pretty wide angle lens, if you hold the fish out in front of you and fill the frame with the fish, you can make a 20 look like a 30, hell a 35 can look like a 50.

I'm really getting into this taking pics of the fish with no one in there, after all they are the stars, keep the emphasis on the fish and as a bonus one's modesty remains intact :D
