"so it was nice to hit the river for a change" Yep gotta love River or Creek fishing it's all i ever do fish fight hard and many different tactics to use i myself love float fishing
on rivers guess goes back to my teenage years back home in England growing up between those two great fishing rivers the Thames and the Kennet.
Nothing like a nice wild river fish ... nice fish ..

Well Finally got to get to the waterside after nearly six weeks of Life getting in the way of the fishing haha.
Long weekend sun shining but not to hot perfect for a spot of the old fishing
so down to my local creek with it being a long weekend was really really busy but the local's tend not to bother scrambling under the bridge
to the far side which is alright by me as that's my fav little spot for a spot of the old Carp fishing.
Along with me was My Daughter and her Fella who are over visiting from England , they made a good couple of Gillys netting the fish for me and taking some lovely photos
6 fish hit the Net the biggest being a nice 15 Lbs so all in all nice day out and about bloody time to ................
Bait and tactics were Bolt rig with Monster Maze with home made ground bait of Bread, ground corn, cornflakes and garlic .
Here to the next time hoping life doesn't get in the way to much.

ahhh YES second Mirror of the year and only second Mirror ever here in good ole Canada !
My Daughter her first ever cast of a fishing Rod.. shame it just plopped down in front of her lol ahhhh but we had a lovely day.

Did you ever get sorted out with a float rod? I have found a UK site that may be interesting to you. I am going to order from them in a month or two (Birthday treat) lol
Yeah kinda sort off but not lol , i went for something i can use as a bit of an all rounder i picked up Wychwood Extricator, just happen to be In London Ontario and came across a nice tackle store picked a few ods and ends and the Wychwood at not to bad a price no postage . so yeah sorted . but still would like a nice float Rod but all my angling budget used up now to next year , unless win the lottery haha.

Hey Brian well its part thanks to you. as i have been watching your pack Bait videos . which helped a lot created my own version of the crushed corn pack bait and seem to be working a treat !!! . i like your Videos a lot very informative ive learnt a lot so cheers .

So finally after 3 years of Carp fishing here in Southern Ontario a Mirror Carp hits my net
Spent yesterday down at my Local creek and all thanks to my Wife as i was going to fish at the Canard River instead as its nearer her work
but she said why don't i just drive back for the day to our local creek and what a good call that turned out to be.
After 6 hours and only 2 runs but no pick ups i was just thinking of changing down to my stalking Rod and have a mooch along the Margin's
when my reel went screaming off , when the fish first come up and i saw it was a Mirror the adrenalin really kicked in " Must not loose this one must not loose the one " oh and what a beauty it turned out to be for my first Mirror here in Ontario . And what a buzz it was to land such a nice fish
certainly put a huge big smile on this face and i was still shaking for some time after aaaaaaaaaaaa this why you angling brilliant !!!.
It was caught using a inline lead with a pack bait of Crushed Corn , Bread Flake and Crushed Dog Kibble and a hook bait of Strawberry Monster maze. with a size 6 hook .
Later that evening 3 other fish also hit the net a 14 and 15 Lbs common and a smaller fish of around 7 or 8 pound so all in all what a good call by the wife to head on back to our local creek Get IN !!.

went out yesterday morning for a couple hours (eww what happen to the weather darn chilly and windy.) managed to net 4 fish no big un's
but did net this nice 5 Lbs Hybrid....

Ahhh yes back to Basics and Just good ole Waggler couple bits corn on the hook and a bit stalking along the bank produces a nice 15 pounder that's the way to do it
Proper fishing ..... Forgot Camera so crappy phone photo and was at dusk good result though..............

Smile IS in fact back on this old face went out to the same spot last night for a couple hours, when i got there it was a tad busy with youngsters doing s spot catfishing pot smoking and beer drinking (gets like that this time of year ) down under the bridge, though this didn't really bother me much as i was of towards the shallows to the far corner armed with my new stalking rod bait box of crushed corn and my trusty Waggler .
And shore enough there they are sunning them self s in the evening sunshine lots nice bars off gold. So i cast out my trusty Waggelr followed by few hand fulls of Crushed Corn
40 min later that Waggler is on the move Strike !! and we are off ya kust got to love fishing on the float and few moments later 15 pound common hits the net !!! get in .
Next time the ole waggler moves Strike one hell of a pull on this but then oh nooo slack line oh well cant win them all. but not long before the waggler is on the move again
darn this one heavy !! but not really fighting .................................. oh oh Turtle alert !! shore enough hooked on to great big Turtle lucky enough as i reel the gurt lump in he comes unhooked few.
I miss a couple more movements of the ole Waggler and soon the Sun is going down and getting hard to see the float so i just start to pack up with back turned i hear my reel screaming of another take didn't even see this, i one grab my rod lucky he still hooked and so another bar of gold hits the Net i didn't weigh this one as it was fairly dark now but again i would say it was around 15 to 17 pound GET IN.
So smiling again !! hoorah . only thing was i forgot my Trusty Camera so no pics. I did take a couple with my phone which didn't come out to good
though i haven't put them on my PC yet .
anyway like you said always Ups and Downs in Fishing. but you got to love those Ups.
And Nothing like take a Nice big take on the Float Proper FISHING.

Had days fishing planed yesterday up early could only spend hour down at the water then head of to take the lovely wife to work. so the plan was to go bait up the swim nip the wife of to work then head back to the swim.
So this was done .
So i get back to the swim (after dropping off my loverly wife at work) and oh yeah lots of fish activities bubbles brown mist coming up from the water etc etc seems the fish were having a nice old feed and near enough to cast out my fav Waggler so i set up my rod cast out and chuck another couple handfuls of corn very confident that i should net a nice one.
BUT then there is a HUGE !! big Splash !! behind me from the Bridge What the ?
I turn around and there in the water just under the bridge is a huge big hose What the ? and then its starts BRRRRR GRRRRR Rumble Rumble Rumble one hell of a Noise NOOO what the ?
then i turn around to look at my swim AND there they gooooooooooo Mass Exodus of my Fish heading of into the distance some nice looking fish from what i could see. NOOOOOOOOOoooooooo
So what was all the Noise about ? the Local works turned up and was pumping gallons and gallons of water into the creek they just so happens to choose to do it right were i was fishing and on a Morning
i had spent time Money and effort bating the swim and by the look with great success aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa i have never EVER been so F ###Ing pissed off when Angling what the Hell kinda luck is that.
I was so Miffed of i just packed up went home , Not been having the best of luck with the old Angling so far this year More Blanks than success and then THIS !!!
AAAAAAANot happy Chappy at the moment grrr.
Still i know it wont be to long before i am out there again and one day that Big bar of gold will hit the net and the smile will be back on my Ole Face , ahhh grr but what a Morning geesh.

Well after a Nice start 6 fish in one short session in late March been tough going since with 4 Blank session ( if had gone to 5 been my worse run since started fishing here in Ontario ) and also my Daughter beating me 7 to 3 in a Cat fish match. feels like ive lost my Angling Mojo ha ha.I Finally net a fish , Up at the Crack off Dawn quick stop a Timmys for a Cuppa and off down to my Fav little spot fingers x and my New Rod in hand ( 9 Ft Wychwood Extricator ) fishing a small method feeder with a home bait of Crushed Corn, bread flake, crushed dog kibble , hemp seed and curry powder and a hook bait of Monster maze but nothing for the first 3 hours not even knockscratching my head i wonder what hells going on , so i change to a small inline lead and change the hook bait to 2 chick pea's on the Hair and with the first cast and 5 and min's later the reel is screaming off hoorah at last into a fish and Boy was he fighter he really didn't want to come in and i loved how it felt on my new Rod lots of fun so after a good 5 Min's tooing and throwing it finally hit the Net Hoorah !!And the Biggest fish so far this year a nice 17 and half pounds, yeah the magic of the Chic Pea does it again oh oh but then my Phone rings NOOOOOOOO the wife been called into work early so time to pack up and go home darn it , oh well there always the next time .Photos ? oh ok got to have Photos .................................

Good stuff look like fun. never really been to or done such an event , i tend to like my Own Company when doing a spot Angling its my Meditation time ha ha, ( though who knows maybe ill make the drive up one day you never know ???? )

Nice to see someone catching , i just had two Blank sessions . still tad chilly and very very wet down here , though we do need the rain hope its putting water levels back up
as two of my fav spots still not recovered from last summer.,

So after 3 false starts two cold windy Blanks my First fish of 2013 finally hit's the net
was a lovely sunny day today though a tad windy at times
it was nice to be at the river bank again Horraaah !!
The Little spot i was fishing is on the way to the Wife's work handy eh , so over the last couple of weeks every time
i drop the lovely wife of to work i stopped by and chucked in a small amount of bait One day some corn and the next some Bread and Cornflakes Mix.
And so today got to do some fishing after the long winter break Hooraah !!
and it seems that my baiting Campaign paid off as 6 lovely golden scaled lovelies hit the net Hooraah !!
there were all around the same size between 7 and 12 pounds , wow what a nice way to start the season got to love fishing here in Ontario !!
I sent some photos to my Brother back home in England and he was stunned that i caught six Nice wild carp in such a small bit of water in such a short space of time
back home catching wild carp in small rivers such as this is rare thing for a Angler, my Brother gave up fishing commercial Pits and lakes couple a years ago and now
only fish's his Local rivers the Thames and Kennet and some times the Avon he only caught 7 carp all year and 3 of those from the same spot on the Thames,
we here In Ontario really really are so blessed to have such wonderful and varied places to fish.
Roll on the Next One !!! Hoorah !!

Grrr Grumble Grumble best laid plans gone up in smoke aaaaaaaaa seems i am not going Fishing tomorrow after all it seems i have to work.
And instead of sitting at the river bank i will be Driving to Toronto and back grrr grumble grumble oh well Roll on Saturday

Been nice to get out and about again for a spot of fishing not been amble to get out as much as i would like so each time is a bit special
so was nice to get out for a couple sessions one very short the other nice all day on Sunday.
I love this little spot just under and through the bridge were the Creek meets the bay which then goes out to the lake , always seem to catch a few fish though never any big uns, but those little creek fish love a fight so are always fun spent all day there this past Sunday and 13 Carp hit the net all between 7 and 10 pounds which also included my 3 rd Mirror of the year, and was lots of fun and lovely way to spend a Sunday.
Then i had a early Morning session on Monday up at the crack of dawn just for a couple hours at my fav early morning spot see if i could net a nice GURT Carp got my 3 biggest fish from the same spot
so was hopeful might get one, Only two fish hit the net didn't weigh ether of them (forget me scales) but nether were really any big , the biggest was around 15 to 17 pound a nice fish which gave a nice lively fight 6 30 in the morning.
Tactics for the Sunday session was fishing on the Float ( using Wychwood extractor rod ) with catapults of Maze over the top every few Mins which seemed to of worked netting those nice 13 Carp.
for the early Morning session i used a heavy in line bolt rig feeder ( a Carp D carp rod from Diawa) with home made feed of Bread ground Corn and Garlic for flavor so all n all a nice couple of days
enjoyed down by the water.
