Damn good luck everyone missed out.
I should’ve read till mid day not the 14th ??♂️

Most of the forum went private to members only. I think with out many benefits of being a member people gravitated to Facebook which many were already moving there. I been a paying member for years recently decided to just leave this alone life changes. I do miss the old times spending hours on here daily

I can’t even listen to anything he has to say after everything he did. Cheated many out of things when people tried their best.
He has the skill to be a great fisherman. Just can’t respect what he did. -

RIP Neil so sad to hear this you were family without being blood related and you treated me with a lot of kindness and respect when I was new to carp fishing. I’m hurt I can’t believe this you knew my kids even played with them the few times you seen them. Thank you for all the memories you will be missed. Prayer for you and your family I’ll pray for you guys as well Carl and family. Rip Neil

post a price range and i can offer suggestions. ive had rod and reel from the 30 range to 1200 range.
starting range you can go with a daiwa BRI, okuma avenger runners, shimano baitrunners, upper range can be any of the shimano bait runners. daiwa has great upper range as well infinity X and tournament daiwa range are awesome.
hooks i have gone through many but korda was my go to till they all started snapping before my 10-15lb test would. solar, fox are my go to now.
rods daiwa black widows are good begginer rods with mix reviews i love them even one a tourney with them . they were good until i gave them away to a new angler. resistance tackle rods were very good to me as well but they went out of business. fox low range rods are great as well. i now have two sets of harrison rods and never looked back.
GOOD LUCK i went through thousands of dollars of gear and i wished i wouldve got something decent from the start. i own daiwa tournament ISO's and Daiwa windcast now

I helped Neil Stern the last few years that he did the ATC. It's a lot of work, and takes time and a cultivating of relationships with both the City of Austin and the rowing club. You have to work closely with the city officials that control parking permits, coordinate with the rowing club for buoy placements, etc. Neil had to take several trips from here in Weatherford down to Austin (a 4 hour drive) to meet with city officials and hammer out details. I myself donated all the swim signs, score cards, lake maps showing swims and scale certification decals. There's a lot of expenses that people don't think about. The guys in Austin did an excellent job helping him the last few years that he put it on, even before they took it over. Ideally, we need to find someone who lives in or near Austin (preferably retired) who can continue working with the city and devote the time needed to make it a successful event. I know if Neil was doing better he'd be all over it.
I hate to see it stop for any reason. It was a very good PR opportunity for the club. Just my two cents worth...
I didn’t know how Neil was doing I hope he feels and gets better.
I know all the efforts you guys put forth into it. I had the pleasure of fishing two of those tourneys organized by Neil had a great time even though it was hard for me to find partners to fish with.

I'm not sure how you come to your conclusion that CAG 'dropped the ball'?
Chad and others tried to find people to take over running the ATC but in the end we had no takers for 2020.
I've personally talked to several folk and there are still conversations ongoing but it won't happen until someone steps up to run it.
Maybe start with dropping the ball here. CAG tourney i don’t see it on here..... Biggest longest running USA carp tourney we should’ve had something in place worst case scenario. There is so many groups that keep rising and not to mention ACS but without boots on the ground and without great social media presence other then Facebook We will keep declining. We have to keep up with times and we’re not. CAG has always been the foundation and groups have always branched out of us. Members will keep leaving I’ve been here for a while not planning on leaving (unless I get the boot) but this is no where what it used to be. For us to not to keep this tourney going even one year can be bad for us. Maybe I’m tripping over nothing. I hope we can thrive and have a busy forum again one day.
If anyone steps up to direct the tourney I’ll definitely help in anyway possible. Clean swims, make swims help make food or whatever.Thank you to all the volunteers that are keeping this group going. this used to be my go to place on the internet everyday, I met so many people on here in real life and made some close friends. I don’t want you guys to feel like I’m bashing the club or your guys efforts it’s more a overall concern of it going away.

Heya!- hope you had a great Thanksgiving!- I've followed the ATC for years and always wanted to go but I don't see a list, for next year- is it happening?......MO
sadly no CAG dropped the ball had another group here locally host the tournament for them they changed a lot of things around (from total weight to big 6 even have it a month later march instead of february) and now we have to tourney i heard the locals let them know they werent going to host it again. they might make their own i heard. but at the end of the day CAG upper body didnt press to have another ATC at least it seems that way hopefully they get their stuff together. ATC has been ran by one or two CAG members in the past with assitance i dont know why it didnt happen again. Thats how many CAG members from around the US met each other with this social/ tournament event even one year off doesnt sit right ☹️ if i didnt have so many obligations with church my kids being a coach I wouldve been all for it to step up and do it. I have swims that can be made with a little work that can make it easier for marshalling. sorry for the long reply
