  1. I have had the same issue with certain safety clips snapping at the tail, this was on different size leads and casting a short distance, thankfully the issue was resolved ( bad batch of the plastic, in other words, Injection moulding problems).

Depending on the fishing situation I will use K-1 heavy duty safety clips, the tail is made from steel, but still does the same job as the plastic, you can just cast heavier weights.

    Hope this helps you

  2. As some of the guys have said, fish close as you can to weeds or reeds, you should be able to see them moving through when they push reeds to one side, If that was me I would use a pop up to start with and mask the hook with either pva tape or a pva nugget or both, this should give you a good chance of not getting hung up on vegitation (its worked for me) plus when the pva melts the nugget will come to the surface and will give you a visual indication. Another tactic you can try freelining a piece of bread, french stick usually does the trick because it stays on the hook a bit longer.

These are just some things I have used and tried and has worked for me, good luck :D

  3. Patience Patience and more Patience, carp fishing is a waiting game and can be very rewarding, bait up over several days "using corn" in 3 to 4 places in the creek and where the creek goes into the main river, carp love corn once they get a taste for it "and they will", most places that I fish in AL you have to bait up several days or weeks to get them feeding. Keep your end rig simple 6inch to 10inch hook link, size 6 or 8 hook with a knotless knot, you will catch carp, believe me :swimminfish:
