  1. Oh I have caught plenty of fish while fishing with them , either with just one or both......but out of my many trips with them I have figured out NEVER set in the middle...that just means you will BLANK for sure...if you put them to the right or left of you , you might have a fighting chance.

Heck look at poor Scott (Spankis) , he has spent coutless hours fishing with them and he has yet to catch a 20 lber.......WOW !!

  2. Word of warning if you ever fish with BOTH Shiflet brothers , never ever ever let them let them put the "squeeze" on you.......by that I mean let each one set up on either side of you....I can hang with them fishing as long as they are BOTH on one side or the other , but set up in the middle of them and you catch NOTHING...this has been proven time and time again by may other buckeye anglers....and Saturday they certainly put the squeeze on me once Rob showed up....after that I was just their net man !!!!!

  3. Sorry to miss your post , Rob and Vince Shiflet and I hit the river in Columbus this morning until Noon , water temp still in the low 50's , some real nice carp caught up to 20 lbs. You know the spot , i'm sure Vince has told me he took you to this certain easy access spot.....and yes VERY windy, but hey fish were biting.

  4. Awesome weekend guys , as always LOADS of fun spending banktime with you all. From listening to Phil D. and Dick L. bicker back and fourth like and old married couple , to Phil D. needing some of Bob's medical attention to remove a large pay-lake hook (OUCH !!) , to the great food and of course the lack of sleep waiting for fish to show til the wee hours of the night.

Another big congrats to Rob for catching the biggest carp of the weekend and for setting a few PB's for Flatheads.

Now its onto the cold water fishing, which truthfully I have been waiting for......see you all backside soon.

  5. Next time call the local police , a bow is a deadly weapon and is no different than a gun....tell them someone is walking around carrying a bow and you fear for your safety...bet they show up FAST.

Cant wait until they finally do away with this type of harvest of fish...the World will be a better place without these idiots just looking for other ways to kill something.

  6. "Let's not kid ourselves and remember that even if caught on rod and line most likely it would have met the same fate. Cheer up, there are more out there!"

So your saying that even if you caught it on rod and reel you would have killed it ? You must be a bowfisherman huh ?

  7. Yep , these have been around for years , I have bought a few and gave them away to a few carp friends..for the money they cant be beat and will hold a TON of gear.

I do agree that tip protectors and reel covers are best to protect your goodies, but I use them with all my quivers anyway.

  8. Frank...your welcome !!

If I had the extra cash I would lay a bet down on Team Indiana in a heartbeat. We will have no problem walkn the walk and catching fish. Sorry to all the rest of the states in advanced this will be like taking candy from a bunch of babies!!!!!

Well does look from your signature that you guys in Indy do have a great tournament trail and you have done well..but also looking at your PB , you might want to step it up as us Ohio boys are not small fish hunting when we head up north.....hehehehehe....going to take much bigger than mid 20's to beat us.

  9. Although we appreciate Andy's favorable odds for Illinois (or some might call it added pressure :P ), the greatest influence on the final outcome of the Midwest Regional will be what zone each team draws. This is not like many tournaments in which some anglers are simply easy money. Given a fortuitous zone draw, every team has enough tournament experience and technical expertise to win it all. Consequently, at this point in time, it's a toss-up! Every team has an equal chance. Those odds will change dramatically when we know where we are pegged. As is the case with every venue, some locations on the Saginaw are better than others. Good luck to all! No matter what the outcome, it will be a great time! Thanks to Andy S. for putting it together. --Frank

All those niceties aside, I'll put up $100 on Team Illinois as a personal bet and as a CAG fundraiser. Will somebody from Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan match that bet. If your $100 represents the losing team, you make a $100 donation to CAG. The winning team maintains bragging rights. Any takers, boys?

Yes sir I will take that bet and put up $100 for Team Ohio....good idea and great cause Frank !!

Daniel , I will take that $1 bet too , just for fun :party0012icon:

  10. WOW...only 4:1 odds ,damn I could sure make some serious cash on this bet.....now if I can only find the sucker, er I mean angler from another State to place the bet with.

Not sure about all of Ohio , but I know some of us will be bringing it hard to rep our State !!!!

  11. Bill come to EAST HARBOR next weekend , Matt the owner of CNY baits will be attending our Ohio event and he will be bringing baits...I have a VERY large order that he is delivering to me and I will be more than happy to give you some of the baits you choose to try out....if you can not make it to EH , I will gladly meet up with you out your way, out my way or anywhere you want and you can SEE for yourself just how much Ohio carp love these baits.

  12. got order in tried them out they are EXCELLENT BAITS. texture, smell, not over flavored great quality made product. quick delivery also

thanks tribal carper for informing me about them.

You are very welcome , you cant go wrong with ANY of the baits Matt makes , top notch owner and his baits CATCH FISH (without having to chum POUNDS of them in your waters)...what else could you want from a bait ?

They are doing VERY well for lots of OHIO anglers and you can expect to see lots of pictures from us up on MATT's site this year of some big catches.

  13. Glad to have you Graham , normally our Winters don't last this long...and at this rate I'm wondering is Summer is ever going to come this year?

You will find lots of us fish Central Ohio and can help you in many ways as to where to go to chase the big girls........any friend of Willem is a friend of ours.

  14. The first baits from StickyBaits I ever used were the bloodworm dumbells after seeing the success that Danny Fairbrass had with them all over Europe.....worst baits for carp in the USA , but instant catfish catchers of course.

I use 4 flavors of pop-ups from StickyBaits and they work very well....even gave a tub of P&P to a fellow CAGer in Northern Ohio and he caught is PB 54 lb. Grass Carp on them...lmao. Their baits DO produce...wish someone in North America would stock them...HINT...HINT to the carp tackle suppliers !!!

  15. is specialist tackle still open loved that site but been down for ever

I really dont know....have'nt visited that site for a long time now. They used to be my go to shop in the UK , specially when they had the "Stars and Strips" section...could get stuff in 2-3 days from the UK...also was great when they had a shop over here up on the Larry in NY , all I would do is call Danny Henwood and he would have stuff shipped over for me on their next container and he would only charge me shipping from NY to Ohio. Bought my Fox Classic Brolly and Fox Ultra bedchair through them many years ago, and again only paid for shipping from NY to Ohio. Bought a LOT of tackle through them back in the day.

Miss that shop but last time I was on there they didnt have hardly anything on their website.

  16. one thing to keep in mind is how far do you have to lug your gear! ie.... from the car or truck to the swim. that in itself will dictate how much or how little gear you want to bring. and also how many trips you want to take to haul your gear!

agree 100%....If your traveling far from your vehical dont leave anything in it that someone would want to break in for...also a good cart is a must for getting gear into swims...or in your case a BOAT...lol. I use a Daiwa Infinity Freeloader barrow and can haul a ton of gear on it.

From your double thread , my post ..

A way of keeping your food/ice cold for that long, you cool and dry...good shelter.....I too take everything but the kitchen sink..lol.

Last year I bought the Daiwa Infinity overnighter bedchair and LOVE it...saves me from having to take both a reclining chair and bedchair...plus I bought a Fox Warrior Oval 60" system.....many shelters in one , easily packed , fast set up and will go anywhere and take any weather conditions.

I will also add , I take a rechargeable NORRA weather radio , plus scout out the forecast ahead of time...plus if going to out of the way spots, make sure a few people have directions to the spot just incase you get hurt and need someone to come get you...you never know when you could step into a hole or fall off a bank and cant walk.....cell phone and a way of charging in a must too. I have a set of walkie-talkies that have a 36 mile range and if close enough from home you could leave one there and take one with you.

As far as radio, I like it quiet...and I dont drink.too much money in gear to have a drunkin accident...and when you can fish with a buddy on those long sessions.
