  1. Vince, the "thrift store" bread is the way to go...you can get a trash bag full for $5....fancy Panko bread crumbs made for cooking are not cheap at $40+ a bag and as much bread as we (you) go through in a good session, they would go real FAST !!

Panko 's are good for an additive to other types/styles of method mixes , that way they last longer then just using them straight.

    But thats just my opinion.

  2. them Georgia boys want one of these babies...

On a serious note, wish you guys well, one day I will head that far south and fish in Mexico with Mario and the Mexican Mafia.

  3. I'm completely stunned right now......when I took over the State Chair position I knew the road to Ohio's recovery was going to be a tough one. Guys that were once members lost interest in the Ohio Chapter and went their own ways, some gave up because of differences among members. When I took over we only had 14 PAID members left in Ohio.....I sent JD a pm earlier to get an updated list again since we had a large jump in guys rejoining (due to the Reginal event no dought , sure as heck not because of my good charm lol).....the membership for Ohio is now back up to around 45 members strong!!!!!

I want to see Ohio return to the large membership base we once had and ALL of us get back to fishing and exploring Ohio's mostly untapped carp resource's !!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for rejoining for CAG and for the Ohio Chapter.

  4. "After this year we could do that. Maybe it could be based upon attendance in the previous years CAG events".
Thats all well and good, but would eliminate the NEW members or members like myself that have not been a member or attended any events in the last so many years. I think a qualifier event would be the only way to even the chances. Either total weight, biggest fish weight, or hell we could do a hat draw at the Winter social when we set up events for the next season...I'm game for whatever...we will deal with it after this event is over and see how it plays out.

  5. Well , if this event goes well and its decided to do it again next year, what we in Ohio can do is set up an event that every CAG member in the State will come fish and we will take the top 15 anglers from that event and make them our Reginal State reps. for this event the following year..with the 16- ? being the reserves ?

Hell If you guys want to make it more fair to those who did not see the sign up thread and got to it to late to sign up, we can set up an Event in April or May and do the same thing...if you want in on this Reginal event 15 member team then you have to earn the spot ?

Its up to the majority...if everyone says leave it as is..thats fine, if we fish for the spots, thats fine to. I just want to be fair . I jst didnt see this LARGE of an interest and did not expect to see guys coming out of no where to sign up...word spread via phone and text FAAAST yesterday.

What do you guys think ?

  6. Rivers are the way to go in the cold. From Nov. to March when they are not frozen up, look for DEEP slow moving pools out of the main current flow. The fish will hold in the deeper water when conditions are bad, but on sunny days (even if its 20-30 degrees out) they will move up to shallower spots near their Wintering hole. They will feed , but nothing like warmer water times. I tend to scale everything down (terminal tackle) and if I do chum at all, it will be light sprinkles of sweetcorn around the flat I am fishing.

Watch your rod tips and indicators (if using any) , sometimes the slightest lift on the indicator is all you will get. Another reason I went to Delkim alarms, on calm days I can kick them up on +6 and they pick up even the slightest vibrations. Keep your baits small , DONT over feed them and keep at them. You will have many blanks until you find where they are holding, but once you find them, you will find a large pod and maybe some real big ones !!

  7. Dave, not sure you can FISH and still be our weigh marshal...will have to get an answer from Andy about that stuff.

Bill, Keith and Phil , plenty of time for things to come up and guys in the first 15 not being able to make it. If any of you really badly want to fish in the event, I can step down and be a weigh Marshal to give one of you guys my spot ?

  8. Well looks like our 16 team members are set...now we will need some back up's incase someone cant make it..we will also need weigh marshals to go up with us and help with our teams fish weighing.

Andy, we have plenty of time to work it all out...after all the rules are set , we will get our heads together and work out all our details.....

Have you ever seen a tournament fill up in just ONE day before...WOW...you can tell the Ohio guys are ready to fish !!!!!!!!

  9. Fishing~ Food~ Friends~ Fun ~"F" Yeah!!

Rick and Dave...glad to see you both join in the fun.

"3 rods mate ,fill ya boots".....oh boy , things just got interesting !!!!

  10. Sent out a few more "invites' to other Ohio CAG members....should hear something soon. Also hope Bill and Richie sign up..if so this is going to be one heavy hitting Ohio group....Andy any 40's from Saginaw ? I bet we will see one this event.....

So is the event going to be called the "Brawl on the Saginaw"..and become a yearly event (fingers crossed). If so we will keep June OPEN each year in our Ohio event schedule for sure.

  11. this is going to be a great event im excited all the way down here in Texas for you guys. i hope there will be a live thread on this!
