  1. that things is crazy! there must be some seriously large guys that way, to have a market for them lol - but at the rate of weight gain I have going on........... I may be in market for one before long lol - ps, check your inbox.....sent ya a pm

there was a really fat guy sponsored by nash to advertise it - he was huge and made quite a funny video.

I think if you are doing a lot of nights and taking a partner or your kids then they are great. serious money though - about $600 plus postage (it weighs something like 19kg)

  2. I had a brilliant time and it was great to be able to put some faces to names and meet everyone in person. Everyone was so welcoming - I had such a great time. Shame we all blanked but there is always next time.

Thanks to Mark for organising and Jeff for the food / drink :)

I look forward to meeting up with everyone again on my mission for a canadian carp :D

  3. I bought some gloves too!.... :)

that made me smile. when i was walking through the supermarket looking for them I could smell them before I could see them. My little girl was in the shopping trolley and she immediately said to me "what that smell dad? don't like that. nasty smell" ~8

  4. Well I didn't find the belachan blocks but I have found some thai shrimp paste which is pretty much the same stuff. Have bought a couple of different tubs which I will bring along at the weekend and you can have one Shawn.

This stuff really hums. Them fish will love it!

  5. Going on from mark's thread and people commenting on Redhill...

So what's your opinion on this - come on - be honest - do you do it? If someone has found a spot and is catching do you jump in there and try and catch them yourself or do you leave the others to capitalise on their own work?

In the UK it is really really bad and the term for people that do it is Swim Slugs. I have heard of cases where people have waited for people to bait up in spots and then jumped right in behind them and have been wading in the margins to find any baits that haven't made it out to the spots (seriously - WTF???)

I have to admit when I came over I was looking at some of the names of places on here as I was a bit concerned on location for my first Canadian carp. Little did I know that they are absolutely bloody everywhere.

I had been told about one place and was pleasantly surprised to see that it matched a video I had seen on youtube. The other I actually found the other on my own (Valley Inn) and realised when I got there. I spent a couple of trips over at these places but to be honest - it never really felt like fishing. I thought I was in the right place becasue others had caught but i think I still didn't catch them because I was too worried about whether my methods would work...? I wasn't confident and as we know - confidence is the most important part for catching fish.

After the second trip I realised I wasn't doing what I thought I should as I wasn't really applying the watercraft I know so started looking for my own locations and spots. The next trip was to a place I searched out and recc'd myself and it was one of the most enjoyable days I have had in ages - I spent the whole day learning and I knew if I got one it would be completely off my own back (I didn't though - LOL).

I am yet to bank my first carp yet (what a noddy :D) but can't wait as I know it will be a special fish as I will have done it myself.

I have to say that the only time I think it is acceptable is when you are on socials and casting into a mates water / baited spot when they aren't looking :D All's fair etc... :)

  6. How can I load one on? I have tried uploading from my photo library and linking to photobucket but I can't seem to be able to get it to work? Do I need to do something special? Does the picture need to be a special size or something?

  7. I'm afraid it's one of the perils of carp fishing (and maybe people in general?) - to get as much as possible for as little effort!

There is always throwing a blind and not being exactly truthful with where the fish has come from. You could direct people to the local sewage works or something? :LiesSign::P:yes:

Either that or codewords for places? There were a few lakes in the Uk that went by acronyms that only people in the know knew anything about?

  8. Well done Mike!

I'll definitley be getting a copy of this. I know Dan Bruton and the fish he caught are absolute stunners. The chapter by Geoff Bowers on bait will be worth reading as well. Looking forward to it!

  9. thanks for the replies guys.

that greenhawk place looks like it's the one. there looks like some very interesting liquid additives in there along with the fish oil so I will be giving the local store a visit (although from looking I am not sure they do feed as well - I'm hoping they will order some in). Am on the case for some Belachan as well :)

  10. great to meet you guys this morning - I had a real laugh and a great day.

sadly no fish while I was there but a few showing. did you manage to get any after we'd gone?

it was a fantastic spot and one I will definitely be visiting again later in the spring / summer. thanks to MikeH for organizing everything.
