  2. Hey everybody, the year for some of us is winding down so I'm going to take a stab at posting some of my better days from earlier this year.

This was from a trip in September, great venue, great fishing.

This was our first time at this camp and we didn't know what to expect. Having fished in the region with much success we figured the odds were in our favour. We landed large fish and saw many fish in our swim much larger. The constant jumping of huge carp kept us focused for the entire time there. Definitely going back for the pre-spawn.

6 am - foggy start to a great day

Julian starts us off with a very pretty 12 lber

Then a 16 pound common , we find the carp very strong in the Kawarthas, they bulldogged into the weeds and would sulk until we could coax hem out.

Finally I broke the ice with a 21 pound missile

The next day brought rain and a very slow day......after 4 hours a 19 lb fish in between downpours.....

The day however ended on high note....coincidentally we both broke our PB's in the same hour with these two beauties.

The fish below weighed in at 32.5, breaking my PB of 28 lbs... We were in a hurry to get this pic before a downpour so there isnt a good broadside shot of me holding it

Then Julian landed this prehistoric-looking common weighing 29.5. A great way to end a great trip..

  3. The Kawartha lakes are full of carp, my PB comes from Chemong at 28 lbs, Katchewanooka is booked for late summer. Can't give a definitive answer as to where to go, establishing the swim is key then its a matter of holding them....

  4. Re: Pics, can I upload from my PC or do I have to put them in photobucket for example and reference them by URL.

Sorry I'm a systems guy but a blog spaz.

  5. Shawn - getting them sent over will upload as soon as I figure out how. No apologies needed. You recognize me in Brantford I'll be the guy with the bent rod....

  6. For the record, the post wasnt a fast track to gain cheap info. There are enough videos on youtube from you guys that every swim is detectable. It was a simple question posed to a group of guys that i thought would give me a decent answer. Shawn I'm not a snagger or a poacher and I do own a 12 foot european rod for method fishing and a 12 foot middy float road. I use rod spods and bite alarms. I make my own ground bait and i do quite well. This year my best day was 28 fish between my buddy and I on a Lake Erie trib. So I think you are way off on your stereotypical approach to people. My only fault here is I have not taken the time to acquaint myself with the group and gain their trust and I'll take that on the chin.

  7. Wow! Sorry for asking. I'm not mooching for locations........ Btw this is my first post and the welcome is a little chilly... Enjoy your harbour boys I'll be sticking close to home...hear you LOUD and clear.......

  8. Is LaSalle producing yet? I was there during the heat spell in April and was blanked. Looking at going out next week. Any feedback to save me a trip would be appreciated.

  9. Hey everybody, I've carping for 3 years now and I'm amazed how addictive the sport is. I've been fishing for over 40 years and have targeted all fresh water species. Nothing is more exciting than hearing the alarm go off and the reel scream. My PB is 28 lbs, 18 lbs on a flyrod. Many in the 20's.... I fish the Grand river through the week, not unusual for 10 + fish caught in an evening. Chemong Lake has delivered the PB's. This year I want to break 30lbs, the approach will focus on ground bait...does anyone have a simple yet effective recipe? Hair rigged CUCC corn (honey), with monster maize a close second is my bait of choice. Anybody ever use rabbit pellets in their ground bait?
