  1. The Last few weeks have been spent going through hours of video and editing of video by my good buddy Justin Solak who has impressively picked up on the process extremely quickly. Myself and Ethan K have spent the last couple of Sundays over at Justin's house where we put our two cents in and helped out in anyway we could to get the video done. The video was taken last October over the course of a week where the fishing was a little tough to start filled with crazy weather patterns, fast flowing water and enough dead/dying weeds flowing by at all levels of the water column to become a problem routinely. After a few days the river decided to settle down a bit just in time to start spitting out some fish for ourselves and guests we had come down for a day or two at a time. We had a great time full of laughs as we do on all of our sessions spent fishing together.

On a side note in the video you'll notice a disfigured figurine of none other than the Hulkster himself. The poor guy was discovered by Ethan the spring before buried in the bank with only its two legs barely poking out of the ground. Understandably we were reluctant to not discard the poor guy off the bat for reasons which will become apparent when you see him but instead he kind of grew on us and we decided to give him a second chance at life and he has since become a mascot of sorts that we seek out upon arrival to this particular location.

Each video we make together ( this is the second ) we come up with new things we'd like to do more of or do away with for the next video. Rumor has it the next video will be in the recording process at some point this upcoming may and will be put up on the internet sometime next summer. Also their have been rumors that we will be having some special guest appearances on the spring trip by none other than Santosh, SaxMatt and more!

This is probably my third attempt at putting the link up here on the forums and each time when I go to paste it something happens where the page freezes and its becoming rather frustrating so what I'm going to do is post this up and then reply to it with the youtube link. If this doesn't work I'm hoping Santosh or Matt will be able to help a brotha out and post the link up on the thread for me. Here goes nothin, hope you enjoy!

  2. As far as getting bait out at a range of 20-30 yards you probably don't need to get to fancy with some classy spod rod. In a jam my friends and I have used all types of rods in combination with a spomb not a spod to get bait out. You could absolutely use a surf casting rod in combination with a spomb to get bait out. Its not the fanciest carp set up but the carp don't know that or care, it gets the job done! Catapults also work great for getting balls of bait out at a distance of 20-30 yards with ease. Also I have a daiwa infitinity versa pod which I believe ran about $160 before shipping on carpkit.com. I know a lot of guys use this pod and like it. If you take care of it I don't see why you couldn't get a few years out of it easy. A buddy of mine has a couple mad dragons and I never hear him complain about em. Personally id get another one 3.25tc mad dragon so either rod you pick up ull be fighting the fish exactly the same where as if you get another brand or test curve it might react a little differently than your used to on the other rod and could potentially mean the difference between losing or landing a few fish through out your season.

  3. As I look out the window at a blanket of snow and frozen temperatures here in central Connecticut I search for ways to occupy my mind. Typically the search results in a trip to Cabelas which is only a quick ride across town to browse countless rows of non carp fishing gear with a occasional purchase of fluke or trout fishing tackle. If im up for battling bridge work and traffic ill make the ride over the Connecticut river to Connecticut outfitters where they have a area of carp fishing gear inside the store but these trips can only do so much after countless visits in the past. From time to time ill open up my bag of carp fishing gear and search through and organize all the goods inside occasionally coming across something that slide through the cracks that I believed to be lost which is always a pleasant surprise. The search also leads me to the internet where ill cruise through fishing forums to see if anyone has anything interesting going on or to one of the online carp tackle vendors to restock on things ill be needing in the future. I think my next stop on the search is a visit to amazon.com or some other online vendor to pick out a couple books on carp fishing and this is where a few suggestions would be appreciated!

  4. Yes sir we eat the fluke and they are mighty tasty. Not sure if they taste like halibut or not but id imagine they are pretty similar. Just got into eating a couple different kinds of fish over the last couple years, my buddy Justin is a mighty fine cook.

  5. Its been awhile since ive put a post up on here and its also been a little while since ive been out on the bank but ive gotten the itch when has lead me to exploring all the carp gear websites and forums just to have a look as to whats been goin on and ive been inspired to do a little catchin up on what myself and some of the CT guys have been up to since spring. During the summer months myself and my buddy Justin have been hitting the Long Island Sound (saltwater) for a little Fluke and Striper fishing. Fluke fishing is a blast which mostly includes bouncing jigs off the bottom of the ocean floor in 100+ feet deep water.

You never know what other sea creatures may be lurking at these depths.

This next strange looking fish is known as a Sea Robin. I compare them to catching tiny cat fish while carp fishing, they are cool the first few times and then become more of a trouble than anything else.

Most of the Striper fishing was done from shore in Old Lyme Connecticut.

The saltwater can be a fun way to change things up during the heat of the summer but back to what brings us all to these forums in the first place, Carp! During the spring we were randomly shooting video footage of our carp fishing adventures and decided over the summer to sit down and compile the video together and create a little youtube video of the fun. It was a fun first experience and having done it once we are full of new ideas for the next video. Here she is, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hia1k6M1vYs&feature=c4-overview&list=UUUrrRf1eOLV2GRLWi5KP4vg .

Heres a few photos of some of my favorite carp fishing captures this fall.

  6. The next fish id like to share and enter into the contest was a mid double but it wasn't about the size with this fish. Generally a fish of this size we don't put through the process of weighing and just snap a quick couple photos and send them on their way!
