  1. Hi Frank,

I for one would really appreciate a postponement, I was about to contact you with regret that I would have to cancel my attendance.

I have just spent three night in the hospital ,due to my having a complete black out whilst shopping. Numerous tests at the heart unit could not find

anything wrong with the 'ticker', now I have to have MRi and MRa as a cat scan shows possible artery trouble up top.

Sorry for this last minute cancellation but I will hopefully be able to compete in the next event.

  2. Hi Frank,

I am in agreement with your wanting to weigh in all fish caught on the one set of scales, thus ensuring that fairness is assured. The only apprehension that I have, is that perhaps not all competitors will have suitable 'Keep Sacks', especially as this is a big three event. With the temperatures as high as forecast, those lucky enough to catch three fish,  are going to find it hard to care for them, more so if they are caught earlier on.

With cooler temperatures, this would ordinarily not present so much of a problem, but as it appears that unusually high temperatures are scheduled for the day of the tournament, perhaps  a re-think should be considered, after all ' CARP LIVES MATTER'.

  3. Russell,

As Dave says, the August 15th date would be fine. ( In fact any date would be okay with me.) I returned to Kewanee this week, having suffered blank on the last trip. This time I was well prepared and managed several, carp up to 17lb and three catfish, including one with the largest flathead I have ever seen. It would appear that my Mojo has returned. :swimminfish::swimminfish::swimminfish: Grahame.

  4. I want to thank Russell for organizing the competition. Once again I left prematurely . The day had got off to a bad start whilst en-route, as I explained to the others, being pulled over by the law and accused of driving all over the road. The complainant ( who of course remained anonymous ), Had tail gated my car for some 10 or 11 miles placing his car with headlights and fog lights ,just feet behind mine. This occurred shortly after 4.a.m.. The driver made no attempt to pass me despite his being able to do so. It was only as I entered Oregon that he dropped back and as I entered a Shell station for gasoline That the offending car was replaced by a Police car with lights flashing. The Officer asked whether I had been drinking" I replied "Yes. two cups of Tea.". It all ended amicably but the event was with me the entire day.

My one and only run occurred some five hours into the comp, when I hooked into a sizeable carp, only to have the hook pull out. Oh well such is life, I am looking forward to the next event. :angry2::angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

  5. Having had a period of months without wetting a line, it was really enjoyable to be once again in the company of good friends and to share the idyllic venue, which produced many excellent fish. I would like to thank Frank for his organizational skills (once again). I regret my not being able to remain until the final whistle, I think that perhaps I walked a little too much, plus, I had a mishap over the bread crumb that I had packed and only discovered when I went to mix it. ( This is what happens when someone else purchases it for you,) I won't say who. It might well work in Italy.

  6. I was waiting for the additional Angler class mentioned by Larry Kirchner in the preceeding information for the 2014 Dixon Carp Derby and in the posting of 4th August 2014 I must admit to having read and re-read this several times in order to clarify the new format for this upcoming event.

This competition does in fact portray the title of "The Dixon Family Carp Derby" and the real intent of promoting carp fishing with catch and release methods to the many families and youngsters who all come to learn this 'art of angling'.

With the addition of the Advanced Division, some twenty prizes become available for presentation in the Adult Division as well as those prizes for the Boys and Girls.

In previous years many of the top prizes went to the more experienced anglers who now must compete in the Advanced Division where they still have a real chance of taking home considerable cash awards.

The change in format for this event is a change for the better and I am looking forward to competing again this year. :swimminfish::swimminfish::swimminfish::swimminfish:
