  1. First Class Service from Dennis at Resistance Tackle. A short time ago I purchased two rods whilst they were discounted. The discount had ended and a free rod was now offered, when buying two. Dennis was able to assist me in purchasing the third rod at a favourable saving resulting in a matching set of three. I want to extend my thanks to Dennis and Resistance Tackle for service well beyond what would normally be expected. :swimminfish::swimminfish::swimminfish::swimminfish:

  2. Frank,

I can see your point of view and understand the reasons for you to fish for the short durations especially at the Jackson Street, venue. I attend the competitions at Joliet,I really enjoy being with fellow carp anglers and only ask that competitors be allowed to fish, without having to waste time in moving pegs unnecesarily. At this time of the year one has to expect weather conditions, such as we are receiving and perhaps not schedule any competitions during such inclement periods, which would negate the need for movement in order to circulate the blood and give hope ( when there is little) in order to catch a fish.

There are occasions when unforseen conditions arise and we have to make the most of overcoming them. I have not intended to cause ill feeling in speaking this way. I can only say what my experiences have taught me.

I will certainly be at the Rowing Lagoon, in fact had the river at Joliet been in better shape I would have ventured there tomorrow. In any case I wish all participants well and hope that their journey on the 22nd proves to be worth it. :swimminfish::swimminfish:

  3. Frank,

Perhaps it is just me, but I cannot see the point of everyone having to change pegs so frequently as I have noticed over the last few competitions. I know you are going to say that it gives everyone a chance of catching fish, well it also hampers those who try and work a swim up, only to have to up end all tackle etc. and move to another peg involving time, effort and ability to make the most of ones chosen peg.

Prior to this charade of 'musical chairs' we only occasionally moved half way through the event. I can understand that plan as it gave one a chance of picking a possible 'good' peg for the second half especially if one drew a high number initially.

Whatever happened to promote this more recent change ? Surely we are all wanting to catch more fish, but at what expense? I know that speaking personally I am at that stage of life where I draw my peg and try and make the most of it, I certainly do not want to enter a competition only to have to pack up and start again and again and again. :swimminfish::swimminfish:

  4. Big Carp Tackle does it again. I have been searching recently for a particular rod to match two already in my possession in order to complete the set. All my rods consist of matching pairs and I have been unsuccesful in obtaining that third rod until now.

Looking on the CAG site p.m. yesterday I saw that David from Big Carp Tackle was offering a free third rod (Saxon Hexalite) if you purchased two of the already discounted models. This was my opportunity to have a complete matching set. I immediately purchased two rods and they together with the free rod are being shipped today. Hats off to Big Carp Tackle. This is a golden opportunity for all CAG members, so don't delay..:yes::yes:

  5. I don't know where Jim intends to fish in Dixon, unless of course he's ice fishing. Wish all you participants well for this 2013/2014 FFF. Happy New Year to everyone ( including some that I would not normally wish well.) After all it is time for New Year resolutions, perhaps the one(s) who fail to reply to my P.M.s will get the message and do the right thing in 2014.

  6. Yes, I was worried that no results had been given on the evening of the comp. I did see the weather conditions throughout the day and hoped that nothing untoward had happened to those attending. I did want to say that I told you so,given that some had made it known that it was too late to cancel and then they themselves cancelled.

Frank, I have noticed that you are very reluctant to cancel any comp. We fished the time before last after all the rain, when we should have moved the comp to Sunday. In this latter case it appeared that you listened to the louder chants for not cancelling when it would have been more appropriate to have put the comp.off, until weather conditions improved.

Larry, I hope you are feeling better and that your wife is in recovery. I didn't know whether you were attending or not. I wish you all the compliments of the season. Look forward to seeing you on the bank.

  7. Whilst being someone who thinks that fishing for carp is better than anything else that one could think of, There is a time and place for putting the fish at the top of the list and think of the conditions that prevail in making the decision to fish or not. The carp will still be there at a later time and date whereas you or someone involved in making the decision to fish, may not. Ask yourself, IS IT REALLY WORTH IT ?

  8. I have had difficulty in attempting to post ideas on D.I.Y. projects, this very morning. I get most of the printing complete, when for some unknown reason, my computer shuts down. I have made three attempts, but am reluctant to proceed until this has been rectified. I cannot recall what was put into print, each time, which is most frustrating.
