  1. Got out at 4 am today to catch the right tide on the delaware. Waited around for 2 hours untill with no action. Right about when the sun started peeking mover the bridge I got a massive run only to have the fish spit the hook after 10 mins... I'd say about an hour after that I got my chance to redeem myself. After about 20 mins of trying to wear this fish down and net by myself I pulled this bad out of the water..

I'm pretty bad at taking pics as you can tell. The pictures still don't do this fish justice.

Also has anyone ever experienced carp jumping out of the water near the margins make a noise that sounds like jets flying by?

  2. So I got out finally Saturday morning for a quick session. I was fishing a tidal tributary about 50yards from the mouth. Conditions seemed pretty good. It was warm with a good amount of cloud cover and an occasional light shower.

I decided to try out a new cracked corn method mix with carolina peach flavoring.

The stuff really seemed to hold the fish. There. Was mud and bubbles being stirred up like crazy in my baited area. Only problem was the wouldn't commit. They'd keep picking my bait up and dropping it after a foot. I was using running rigs with method noddlers on two rods and a simple paylake rig with corn on the hook on the other. So I decided to change one to a bolt with 3 oz.. Same results they would pick it up and drop it.

After that I decided to change the hook on the paylakish setup to a 4 circle hook. Finally I hooked in a fish only to have the hook spit directly back at my face. At this point I've been there for two with no fish banked and plenty of fish right in front of me. I start to gather my things to get ready to go when I finally a got a screaming run.

I picked up the rod it was a pretty heavy fish. After some 50 yard dashes in every direction I got him in close he looked pretty big I go to net him and what do you know he decided he was going to take me for another long run just this time into some trees hanging in the water. So after walking about 40yrds down a tree and rock ridding bank I managed to get him into the back of my net! After weighing him he came in at 26.3lbs my new PB!

  3. I haven't caught one below 16lbs in this area. Its hard to catch them consistently though. I also haven't caught more then 2 in a session either. Ill have to just keep a note pad to record the details of when I catch them. I usually fish the margins should I try deeper water?

  4. Does anyone have any experience fishing tidal tributaries? Is there a different approach is should be taking compared to none tidal rivers when it comes to chumming, locating, rigs etc....

Beings though the tide changes day to day it's hard to to bait at the same time every day.

If anyone has any pointers they'd like to share I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks
