  1. I got hit Friday during the ATC. While verifying a catch with another angler (a beautiful 37#+ beast), my wife called and told me our card had been used to purchase $250 from Sears.com and there had been another attempt at over $1,000 for Best Buy. The card company caught it and stopped the transaction. It is curious that so many of us have been hit within a short period of time.

I wonder if any of the card companies are aware of this coincidence?

  2. I highly recommend the mudfeet to anyone buying an Eclipse , tri-pod style pods are very well known for being "tippy".....no matter what brand.

Have a buddy that had the Prologic tripod and seen it tip over in high wind...completely dunked one of his Delkims , when ever that happens, take back cover off , remove the battery and let dry out totally....good as new after that.

Yea, I had a Prologic and it was prone to tipping over. Luckily it has a large hook underneath the center so I hung a small gallon bucket with water in it there and solved the problem. Not very "tarty" looking though... If you have last years CAG calendar, the pic of the silver rod pod with the rainbow in the background was mine. You can see the bucket underneath it.

  3. wow wish i was there! here in michigan we had snow lastnight!i have found 1 spot on the river where i might be able to put out a line but the temps are in the teens and im afrade the eyes on my rod will freezeup! this sucks!

That sucks. Here in Texas, we fish pretty much year around. The heat in summer is really more of an issue than cold in winter. Even then though, we just fish at night. Heading down to Austin tomorrow for the ATC (4 hour trip). Can't wait!

  4. What's the fun in bank fishing if you don't have to clear away a few weeds, trees, boulders, snakes, etc.? Neil and I fished Eagle Mountain here in Texas last spring and spent the day next to a big cluster of water snakes, some over 4' long. But the fishing was too good to have a few snakes run us off. Took a security guard to do that...

  5. Possum asked about Money Orders being OK, but you didn't answer him. I was wondering if you preferred Money Orders or would Personal Check be OK?

Money orders are fine. Sorry I didn't see Possum's post. I'm on the forum sporadically, as my secretary, financial adviser, wife is constantly looking over my shoulder here at work. Some nonsense about wanting to make a profit instead of goofing off...

  6. Ok got it, but let me make sure! If I order POSSUM I get 4 if I want say 6 that say POSSUM I pay $17.00

    And are money orders ok?

And if I want 2 different names its $15.00 per name per set of 4 correct?

The $15 covers the typesetting and changing out rolls of vinyl. Once we get it set up and ready, it's not that hard to do extras. And if you order them at the same time and in the same color of vinyl, I'll do the different name as if it was just extras of the first. What a deal...

  7. Be the first on your bank to have custom rod decals with your forum or personal name! Durable solid vinyl lettering is available in several fonts and lots of colors. Lettering height is approximately 1/2" high, with four standard fonts available. Additional fonts can be ordered. Send or email me a sample or the font's name and I can usually match it. My computer has over 6,000 of them.
Type is usually done in all caps, to make them as readable as possible. Most rods do well with lighter-colored lettering. Remember, decals do not adhere to cork or foam grips. Decals should only be applied to the rod blank itself. Instructions will be included with your order.
In the future, we may be offering custom full-color logos. But given the small imprint area, they would have to be fairly simple. Will let you know.

    Vinyl Colors:
    Black
    White
    Gold (matte)
    Silver (matte)
    Copper (matte)
    Gold Foil (shiny)*
    Silver Foil (shiny)*
    Red Foil (shiny)*
    Blue Foil (shiny)*
    Green Foil (shiny)*
    Athletic Gold
    Lemon Yellow
    Red
    Green
    Lime Green
    Cream
    Brown
    Teal
    Pink
    Lavender
    Gray
    Orange
    Maroon

*Shiny foil colors are really sharp looking, but more prone to scratching and not recommended unless the rods are handled carefully.

Price is $15 for a set of four decals, of which $7.50 goes directly to CAG. Extra identical decals available for $1.00 each when ordered at the same time.

Send payment, along with an exact spelling of what is desired, your choice of font, color of lettering and your return mailing address, to:

  8. Someone told me Wacker Baits had a bag but it's not listed on their website. Might have to call for info. The generic bag Resistance carries is a hair too short. My bag I got at a gun show. It's actually a padded zippered case for a AR-15 style rifle. It had all kinds of outside pockets that fit my Delkims, swingers, etc. and a zippered partition inside for the buzz bars. A little overkill, but very nice. Well worth checking into.

  9. Excellent pod. I bought mine about a year and a half ago (about 40 fishing trips) and no complaints yet. If you have large reels like mine (Daiwa Linear Tournament X 5500s or the Shimano 12000Ds), you will certainly want to invest in a wider set of buzz bars. The original ones let my reels hit each other when using all three.

When fishing with only two rods, I drop my buzz bars all the way to the bottom for stability. When using three rods, I raise them up so the middle swinger doesn't hit the main beam on the pod.

I've never had it tip over. And I love the ease with which you can change the angle to fish with the rod tips up or down. Just flip a lever, tilt and lock back. Couldn't be easier.

It also came in very handy on the Gazebo Swim at the ATC last year. On solid rock, one leg extended almost all the way. The other two collapsed completely. Worked beautifully.

Overall, I'm very pleased with it and have no reason yet to buy another. Excellent pod for the money.

  10. I was fishing the last FFF and had a really heavy fog roll in about an hour before midnight. It was really freaky, because about a quarter mile away they started setting off large aerial firework displays at midnight and we could hear them but couldn't see any light from them. But my Delkims (about thirty yards away) caused the fog to glow eerily every time I had a bite. Everything was pitch black until one of them went off. Beautiful sight. It didn't help that I had a three foot drop I had to watch for every time I ran to them.

  11. Having won the last two FFF Sunrise Awards, I knew my streak had to come to an end. When my partner and I awoke on New Year's, there was nothing but fog and misting rain. Nothing worth taking pictures of. At least we managed to catch something. Oh well, there's always next year! Can't wait to freeze my...

  12. My son Chris (Norris of the Chuck), Texas Carper and I fished the FFF at Hunter Park at Lake Granbury, Texas this year. It was overcast almost constantly with intermingled misting rain, fog and high winds. Perfect weather for fishing!
My wife Vonda and I got there about noon on Saturday and set up camp. Did a little pre-baiting with corn and range cubes in preparation for the hauling yet to come.
But before I could get my rods in the water, four guys showed up next to us and started running RC boats back and forth along the bank. For the next three hours all we could do was sit and watch.
Finally just before dark, they left and I managed to get in a little fishing. Before i rolled my lines in for a little sleep, I did manage one common, about 6 pounds.
Sunday rolled around and after a trip into Granbury for a little breakfast and a few supplies, it was back to the rods. My brother Mike showed up for a couple of hours later in the afternoon and helped me net a couple, including a 14 pound buff, the largest I've caught at this lake. His first sight upon arriving was me running the 50 yards from camp to the rods. The lake was down almost 6 feet, making it a good distance to the pods, with a 3' ledge that had to be jumped off of, right at the beginning where the high water line is. Again, about 8 or 9 that evening I rolled the rods in for a little sleep. Caught 8 or 9 fish by then.
Monday morning started overcast, windy and cold. Texas Carper got there in the afternoon and caught a common and a kitty before he even got his method mixed. (he cast his rods out without method while he mixed it). About dark the fog rolled in and the wind died down. The fog was so thick we could hear fireworks going off all around us but couldn't see any of them. The only thing we could see was occasionally, as I got a nibble on my middle rod, my blue Delkim lit up like a lighthouse, cutting through the fog with a creepy glow. The fog and the dark really made it fun when we got a run, as you had to jump off the 3' ledge and traverse a stump or two sticking out of the mud.
I caught another 8 or 9 fish, including an 11 pound common, again, the largest I've caught from this lake, by midnight. Chris had caught 2 or 3 by then, and despite his quick start, Texas Carper hadn't got another one.
At midnight, we rebaited and got all our rods in. By then it was still foggy misting rain and our headlamps were useless, as the glare was terrible. Tried to get a little sleep, but our alarms were beeping often enough it was impossible.
Had a good run at 1:45 am, and Chris helped me net a nice common at 9# even. Couldn't take a picture because of the wind and misting rain and frankly, neither one of us wanted to run all the way back to the camper for the camera.
Then at 2:45 am, Chris got another good run and landed a 14.8# buffalo, only his second he's ever caught. The first was a 30# monster during the last Austin Team Championship. The misting rain had let up enough we got a good picture of it.
About 9:00, we had had enough and packed it in. High wind, still misting rain and dropping temps had taken their toll. Would we do it again? Why not?
