  1. Dunkel,

I'm not sponsored by a bait company. I either make my own bait or purchase it with my OWN money. I use boilies in some form for 90% of my fishing I would say. If you have no confidence in a bait, then fair enough. However, you are directly accusing people of lying or falsifying results simply because of your own failings when using them.

Again, your initial statement is ridiculous and insulting to the anglers who use the product. I personally wouldn't use a puff in any form but I would never claim they flat out don't work and everyone who says they do is lying!!

And claiming I don't know how to fish or catch carp because they don't work for me is a ridiculous statement.

  2. They are overrated by those who are trying to sell bait. If you use them and they work great, but I have yet to catch 1 carp on a boilie. Personally I don't believe most of the stories about catching carp on boilies. It would be quite easy to edit a video to show a carp with a boilie hanging from the hook in it's mouth when the carp was actually caught on sweet corn/maize.

  3. like Dunkel said ..i use soybean meal for method mix works well & soybean liquid is very effective with corn, boilies etc ....

I found that stuff on a health food site the other day and was going to ask if anyone used it for carp. It's cheap enough and seems to have all the good amino acids.

  4. I received my order from RT the other day and everything was great except for 1 little problem. I contacted them about the problem and they responded quickly. They handled my problem and were quite friendly and professional about it. I have never had any trouble in the past when ordering from RT and now I know if I do they will take care of it. Well done!

  5. I was Pm'd by a State Chair to sway my vote for the October pic. So I picked March!

I got the same PM but I voted for October for 2 reasons.

    1) The guy's chubby and so am I, so I can relate to a chubby carp fisherman.

    2) The picture was taken in the Fall and that's my favorite time of year.

  6. Continued as promised...

Tiger Nuts- I had tried using preprepared tiger nuts a few years ago and had zero results. I mean not even a nudge. I decided to give them a try in 2013, but this time I prepared them myself. I soaked and boiled them in cola as I heard that was the thing to do other using molasses. I spombed out some chopped up tigers each session and I used them for a week solid on one of my 2 rods. I had 1 nudge which could've been a turtle for all I know. My opinion is that they may work for other people but in my swim they are a waste of time.

Chick Peas/Garbonzo Beans- I had never tried these before 2013, but had heard they take flavors well and work so i figured I'd try them out. I had the dried ones, so I soaked them in water and boiled them in R&W Butternut. They turned out orange all the way through. I tried them directly on the hook a few times but found it was hard to hook them without splitting them. I used them in a hair after realizing what a pain it was to get them on the hook. I used them on and off for a week and I caught 2 fish on them. 1 was a 3.5 lb golden Redhorse Sucker and the other was an 18.25 lb common carp. Both fish were caught with the chick pea on the hook. My opinion is that I would use them again and may try different flavors or possibly hot sauce.

Dynamite Marine Halibut Pre Drilled 16mm Pellets- On another carp forum I've heard the Brits go on and on about Marine Halibut this and Marine Halibut that, so I figured I'd give them a try. First off these things stink! I've smelled catfish stink bait that was more pleasant than these smelled. I couldn't help but think that there is no way a carp would eat this stinking pellet, a catfish maybe, a turtle probably, maybe even an eel, but not a carp. I spombed out a dozen or so in the area I was fishing each session and used them on one rod for 5 days or so. I got 1 small run that I missed or the fish was so grossed out by them that it spit it out. I'm not sure what kind of fish it was, but other than that, no action at all. My opinion is I won't use them again as they were a waste of time in my swim.

  7. Yes I referred to you but didn't mention your name. Then you had to show up to try to sell more products for your employers. I don't care what they call you consultant/sales rep/field tester/snake oil salesman it's all the same. You have to push your sales pitch in any thread you see fit. I don't go into your threads and doubt your findings, but you feel the need to come into my thread and doubt mine. Just because Dynamite WCCC boilies catch catfish in my swim doesn't mean they will everywhere else. I think it's awful that some people who are sponsored feel that they can walk all over anyone elses opinion.

  8. enough to know they are not catfish bait, as did a few other anglers ;-)

This post is about my opinions. It wasn't intended for folks to dispute my opinions or try to sell bait. Perhaps you should make your own post where you can sing the praises of this bait and that. I have nothing to gain by sharing my findings and opinions. I thought people might enjoy an unbiased opinion for a change.

  9. if all you caught on the dynamite white chocolate was cats maybe your location was wrong, i have not had one cat on them all year but did have plenty over carp over 30lb and a 46 ;-), they were an absolutely PURRRFECT bait for me, maybe you should VET the so called field testers/sales reps in future, IAMS off to bed now, out of cat jokes lol

You should test out flavored pack/puffs/maize next.

sorry you didnt catch with the boilies.

My location was the same location I was catching carp on puff and pack the same day. You're right, I should've vetted you parksy! ;)

I always use flavored pack. Maize I haven't had any luck on. I do use sweet corn in the early spring but by the time late May rolls around the sunfish won't leave it alone long enough for a carp to find it.

  10. Thanks for the review. How did you apply the Lorans cinnamon oil and how much did you use? I have not had a great deal of success with it.

The same way you show how to apply hot stuff to puffs. I put about 5 drops in a quart ziploc bag, rub it all around, throw in 2 or 3 handfuls of puffs, blow air in the bag, seal it and shake it to coat the puffs.

  11. I want to start this off by saying that I am not sponsored by any bait or tackle company. I am going to name names when it comes to products both good and bad. This is from a consumer's point of view and from my experiences. These are my opinions learned from 2013 and in some cases past years as well.

I tried a number of different hookbaits this year that were new to me and here's what I think.

Betalin- I used it on pop up corn and I used it on puffs. On pop up corn I got a few nibbles that were most likely sunfish or maybe small fallfish, but never caught 1 fish or got a run even. On puffs I caught fallfish, not just a few but lots of fallfish. In fact that is the only thing I caught using Betalin. My opinion of it is that it is expensive fallfish bait. In the future I will only use it when I need fallfish to use for cut bait for catching catfish.

Arrowhead Mills Puffed Corn- Also known as just puffs. I used them unflavored and flavor/attractant added. I caught most of my carp on puffs last year. Texas Pete Hot Sauce flavored seemed to be the fishes choice. I also caught quite a few on puffs flavored with Lorann's Cinnamon Oil. I also used a secret flavoring/attractant passed along to me through word of mouth with mixed results. I also caught suckers, sunfish. and fallfish on puffs, but mostly carp. I used them both packbait style and method style and it seemed packbait style produced more fish. The problem with that is I fish in a river and I can only ocassionally get away with using a sinker 1/2-3/4 oz in size. The just won't hold the bottom unless the river is low. So when I can I use a 1/2-3/4 oz egg sinker with the pack around the puff. Most times I'm using a 1 or 2 oz Resistance Tackle Method Lead with the oat pack around the lead. My opinion of them is try them if you have never tried them. They produced fish when rods baited with boilies and my tried and true doughballs didn't get a hit. They will always be a go to from now on. 1 of my rods will always be pack and puff.

Dynamite White Chocolate Coconut Cream 20mm Boilies- I decided to try these because I wanted to give boilies another chance. In the past I had used K-1 Juicy Tutti Frutti and Strawberry Ice Cream 15mm and Red Star, Chocolate Malt, and Blackberry 18mm if I remember correctly, and homemade boilies of different flavors made with Wacker's Preferred 24 base mix. I caught absolutely nothing on any of those boilies and had not even a nudge on any of them. So I decided to try the Dynamite ones because they were recommended by a sales rep/ field tester that shall remain nameless. I did not catch 1 carp on them

or get a carp like bite for that matter. I did catch numerous Golden Redhorse Suckers and some nice Channel Cats on them. My opinion of them is that I will use what I have left when fishing for catfish, or when I don't want to target carp.

Range Cubes- I have baited up with range cubes for a few years now, but never used them for a hookbait. I pre drilled and glugged some of the smaller ones in Brer Rabbit Full Flavor Molasses. I caught several nice carp, a few suckers, a few channel cats and a fallfish. My opinion of them is that they work. I think if I used bigger ones it would rule out the smaller fish.
