  1. Well, due to walley spawning in the huron river up by flatrock, heated up steelhead fishing, with this warmer rain coming in, it will raise the water level wich will bring a fresh run of steelhead up the river, also maybe a good number of suckers coming up, thats all i no so far. And i bounced around some marinas last week hunting perch, all but few are spawned out and headed back out to the lakes, so for targeting perch, better have a boat, in lake st claire, if u go to there metro park, u might get some luck fishing on the beach for perch, wich is left of the day/sail boat launch where i ice fished a lot this year.

  2. you might have to experiment with the size, but medium will work :icon_smoking:

ok thanks, i plan on heading back out next weekend due to school and such, but i will definatly post pics when i get them, and pretty much the carp loved the tiger nuts that were soaked and cooked in the r&w butternut xtream, seems like a really good flavor.
  3. When I tie my rigs, I always put the bait that I'm going to use on the hair, then I take the rig a drag it across the palm of my hand to see if the hook turns, if it doesn't turn right I add a split shot about half an inch to an inch up from the eye of the hook. This usually helps the hook turn and penetrate the lower lip of the carp.

interesting, ill definatly have to try that, any prefered size split shot ? Like small medium etc.
  4. I was looking for you but I couldn't find you

If u were there in the morning, did u see an orange dodge avenger parked at the end of roberts road, i was with my buddy on the right side point by what looked like a bay where the flood gates are, i was set up on the beach.

If you couldn't hook up you mite want to check your rig mechanics, the hook mite not be turning right.

that sounds like it is definatly the problem, is there any ways i can check when i tie my hair rigs prior to making a trip ? All the fish that where surfacing where had the huge fins and tails, charicteristics of nice big carp !
  5. Got there at 830 lines in at 855, lot of carp surfacing and jumping, got some really good hits using the tiger nuts i prepared the day of, and quit a few takes, just couldnt hook up. The best time for that particular spot is early morning to about 1030am, after that they go somewhere else or completly turn off.

  6. Going out there with my good friend tomorow morning due to erie being cancelled tomorrow :\ got all my hooks, lines, rigs and bait prepared.

On the carp menu : Fresh prepared soaked and boiled tiger nuts with r&w extream butternut flavoring, k-1 tuttii fruttii boilies, and corn, and richs grits pack bait mix with cream corn.

Hoping the weather and wind will cooperate fkr the trip in the morning, if anyone wants to meet up and fish that would be cool, would definatly enjoy the good company !

Will post results and pics tomorrow (:

  7. Going to erie k17evans ?

Im contemplating weather going to erie metro or pt. Moulie, i wanted to try some of the ponds inside the dyke there, or fish the lake, the side where u go down to the end of roberts road, walk the road with the flood gates, and make a right, go down the rocks to the beach, last time i was there it was sunny, got a good bit of takes, and saw some carp jumping 25 30 yards away from where i was set up.

  8. now I'm confused...

like how circle hooks are the way they are, the hooks i have now are strieghter, ill post a pic in the morning cause all my gears in the car. But all in all weather conditions today where not good at all on erie, for that matter anywhere i tried fishing, hopefully come saterday conditions are more favorable.
  9. Circle hooks but they were like size 2s so i dropped to size 6 circles, and this report wont be good, the spot i was in is getting hameres by 15mph eastern winds, big waves, and pretty much un fishable, im just heading back to taylor in an hour an fishing at heritage park so i can atleast catch somthing

  10. Tied some hair rigs on some smaller hooks, found out i was using way to big of hooks, this time around got my license renewed and smaller hooks, tied the rigs up got the gear ready, gona go after some of that aErie bronze and see what i can pull out in 5 hours, ill post pics when and if i get fish !! Last day im goin till the 6th too (:

  11. Was an interesting day, went accross the bridge with all the flood gates on to the dyke, went to the right and down to the beach, saw several carp jump 25 yards from me. I got takes on both sweet corn, and boilies, but no hook ups :\ cant go tomorrow due to ran, might go during the week once back, then buy bait and stock up for the 6th at erie.

  12. 2howyz4.jpg ready to tackle point moulie tomorrow on all angles, gona be a day trip from 8am to 8pm so i got all the gear ready and packable in to the car. Lots of hair rigs for the boilies and corn. Going alone but would love a bit of company. Area is when west jefferson turns to us turnpike, left on to roberts road an taken all the way down, crossing over the flood gates on to the dyke, gona be fishing both sides casting on the open lake, and near the canal where all the reeds are.
  13. How did you do at the D?

stayed for 2 hours, no takes or hits, same at erie metro, water level was down, could wade accros to the small island if i wanted to almost, pt. Moulie im going to tomorrow if rich at the bait shop has some more grits pack bait mixed up, gona set up on fhe dyke and cazt over next to the weeds and see if anythings there, my friends coming but would love more company.
  14. You can fish all around Pt. M. The river side can be very fast current, while the boat launch and the "reeds" side is much easier pickings and usually has more carp this early in the season...cool place!

ill have to go there tomorrow morning cause i went back to the detroit river on the litle park of jefferson where that lil cove is.
  15. Is the water low? Any crap getting on your lines?

i can wade to the small island point to the left, like where that nature trail goes to, im going down by point moullie, rich from little dipper told me thats where fish would start making there way into the deteoit river so im gona find spots down there
  16. Got all my stuff packed up and desided to go to erie metro, been here for almost 3 hours and no takes, company and no wind would be wonderful :P probibly gona pack up and look on the gps for some more spots on erie

  17. When I started I used a PVC pod your doing better than I was;)

You can add some caps to the back rests and some 12 gauge wire in a u shape to have better support... I will see if I can find a picture of my old set up.

i think its awesome how i did that before i got the bank stick/ buzz bar, now all i need is another set an buy rod butt holders. The pvc helped a lot before i got my bite alarms, it will definatly help for when i go to erie metro today (:
  18. Looks good. Maybe your next purchase will be another bank stick, another buzz bar and 2 rod butt holders. That way your rods can sit horizontal and it will keep your rod butts off the ground.

that is exacrlt what i was going to do lol !!
  19. Went shopping today at the bait shop, got a nice solid setup for my first serious carp fishing set up i think, i think i did well with a budget of 105 dollars. I got 1 bank stick 1 buzz bar, 2 BFS XXT bite alarms,2 hangers, a baiting needle combo kit, hair stops and a bag of K-1 Juicy Tutti Frutti boilies, gearing up for this whole week (:
