  1. Jerome,

I stood in that exact spot by the boat on Saturday. Besides the museum I didn't see a rest room anywhere close which wouldn't work out well for my fishing partner.

I will be back down there before long. I plan to fish there in the spring several times.

  2. I have actually been on the ground there some. Much of the obvious areas are overgrown with brush and trees; even in the parks. I hoped to run across a local who has fished in the area with some better suggestions than I have found so far.

  3. Here is a response from Dave Mercer's Facts on Fishing Facebook page about availability of the Carp Master Classic online:

"the only way to watch it right now is on Sportsnet 360 in Canada & on Outdoor Channel in the U.S. Later in the year WFN - World Fishing Network will re air the shows. We will post the new season on You Tube once all those channels are done airing it. Sorry we will not have them on line until after that. But we do have older episodes posted on you tube now for you to watch."

Keep checking YouTube. It will eventually show up there.

  4. I have been looking at the Carp Kit items marked down this weekend and the Shimano Speedcast 8000 XTA's caught my eye. $139.99 sounds like a reasonable price on those reels.

I have five reels that are fully functional at this point or those reels would be coming to my house next week.

If you are reel shopping, they might be worth a look.

  5. I purchased the Sonik 6000 reels on a promotional sale last year and have used them for 1 full season at this point. I thought I'd post my impressions of them after catching 140 carp on them this season.

I agree that the sales information posted on Carp Kit is accurate. Here it is again in case you need it:

These are sturdy reels. They look good and they produce as advertised. I have snagged hooks with them occasionally and jerked, yanked and ripped to free the snag and the reel did not falter. I even tightened down the drag once reeled until my hook bent with no obvious ill effects, although I don't recommend you do what I did.

I like the black finish on the reels and it has worn well with minimal scratches. The only reason there are any scratches at all is because occasionally I got a little excited and dropped the reels when unhooking fish.

I'd buy them again if I needed new reels. I think they are a good intermediate reel for people who are getting serious about catching lots of carp on a regular basis.
