  1. Great videos. Thanks for posting . Hmmmm In the second video. A baitcaster reel and an Ugly Stik rod. Have you seen a paylaker outfit here. What a battle. I thought the set ups they were usingin the first video were very ingenious as well.

The first one is an old style fishing with the bamboo .. the ugly stick.. we dont have much options to buy there may be 1 or 2 stores for fishing equipment in whole india... t whatever we could get is taken ... more experienced anglers will nook for anything with a very sensitive tip rod...

  2. Interesting concept in the first video looks like a big lake wonder how long before european carp anglers get there.

Notice the guy in the second one has a Sanfrancisco California ball cap :) different species of carp though, are there are regular commons/mirrors there.

Mirrors I never seen one or heard of ..the first time i seen a mirror was here - yeah lot of commons. the funniest pic i seen there was anglers fishing in a pond in town new york in india... I mayself never heard of a pic but the pic i seen of town name on road was really :)

  3. This might not be of much intreast but i just though to put this - dont know what to say my experience or blog or whatever...

Early nineties got into fishing with family we used to go lake nearby more of a weekend . Catch lots of talapia and few carps primary and only bait were worms - aka night crawlers here..

Late 90s found friend whose granny was fond of fishing ... This is when i seen real carp fishing .. He has bag of things for his ground bait that he prepare and passes it to someone at lake to keep baiting 2 to 3 spots.. Weekend he would tie rigs and explain us.. I never got his technique until last few years I found its called feeder/method ..

His rods were bare basic bamboo aboutt 4 feet and the rod - a very fine tip made from bull thorns..??? Myth may be cant say.. I got the better description below from a website and a youtube line of this rod in use…

A sligjt moment of tip he strikes and let rod stick go in water …

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxKgCjr7zxw

    Rod:

The rod called a ‘sing ki chadi’ is made with a piece of bamboo approx. 10-12mm in diameter and about 18-24” long. It has a tip of about 10-12” made with the inner portion of a buffalo’s horn. The horn is tapered down from the base (where it is glued to the bamboo in a ferrule type fitting) to form a sharp point. The last inch or so of the tip is shaved into a very thin cylinder of about 1.5mm dia. making it extremely flexible. The butt of the rod ends at a knot in the bamboo making it slightly thicker than the rest of the rod.

    Mainline & Terminal Tackle:

A length of 20lbs line (more on the length later) is whipped on to the tip of the rod with red silk thread making it more visible. The other end of the line is attached to a treble hook made by whipping together 3 spade end hooks of 2/0 size (more on this too later). A small piece of thin lead wire is wrapped on to the line about 1” above the hooks, this acts as a weight (5-6 grams) and also a seat for the paste bait. A marble sized ball of this paste is pressed on to the lead wire.

    Silk line & Reel:

A thick silk cord is tied on to the butt of the rod ahead of the knot. This line (about 200 yards), which is of about 100lbs breaking strain is wrapped onto a spool called a ‘charak’. The charak is basically a used copper wire plastic spool attached with a long bolt to a wooden handle. The spool spins freely around the bolt.

In early 2010 i came across a indian site Here is where i heard about method bait bomb...

Those days I see any fish catch was taken home ..but things have changed a lot .. lot more respect for carp … sport fisher man now are more into catch and release , Indian fishing forums are promoting much awareness locally for C&R , fish care ,single hook etc…

  4. RebelCarp - had spots with grass and rocks too ... I usally dont go to rocks and i do chum a little not as much say acan of corn and equivalent amount of breadcrums..etc.

barbelfloat - good thought ..I do not bait much so i am thinking for a caterpult and a surf rod ..Im gonna try with budget option as it will fit my pocket lol... Samsung - I liked it a lot for first year but was starting to think otherwise last few months ...but to my dismay samsung released some cool updated to firmware and im back in love with it again ..

Hudak860 - I will try the dragon ..not used to 12ft rod at all so will see...may be 9 or 10 ft...my swims here in mn have frozen to hard ice now so got to wait to try... but as i said above i will get a surf one when free shipping goes again on BasPro again...

Pods - still thinking i could not find a set that runs in my budget of 150 with alarms etc..

I fish missipie on coon rapids MN... but i am planning to travel and fish different venues .. participate in events and learn more from you all...this year..so was thinking for some more stuff for my bags..

Now - Reels : found okuma avenger baitrunners good in my budget any comments on these reels...?

Thanks for all of you coming foward and sharing some info.....I got more question to come :)

  5. Folks need some gear advice ... Im quite new to advance or to say appropiate gear for carp fishing here..i been using mostly 6 or 7ft rods ugly stuck and a catfish rods.. 2013 i did all of my fishing on these low budget rods but with good success in minneapolis... i had used the bamboo rod too back home a decade ago..ill write another post with details on my carp fishibg experience in india...

Coming back - i decided to do some euro style fishing this year and need some advice ...help... I narrowed and got a daiwa maddragon 3.25 Iam thinking to get another rod in similar price range... (I do groundbait ball over lead 1-2 oz) help me with some thoughts should i go for maddragon same tc? Or get something else ..i still feel 12 ft rod be too much for me as i do not have muc experience with long range fishing all my fishing in last 10yrs been in 20yrs range ...

chumming- caterpult or spod ..? Did lot of search for spod rods but those were heavy for my pocket ..a caterpult should do for my need..?? I found cheap surf rods 12 to 15ft with 2 to 6 oz lure.. i think if it work..? Be best for me these, rods i found were around 30$.... Any pod you can recommend in range of 100 to 150...im not looking for fancy or brand ..but it should be reliable and last for a year atleast... Got few more questions but that be later ....

Thanks in advance Sent from Samsung Galaxy Note

  7. I never know there is so many carp enthusiastic s out here .. I did regular weekend fishing here in mn for carp and folks here do not care about carp - for them its just roughf fish.

It was a pleasure to be for the event with so many friendly folks . the tournament was a big success though the fish count low .. the organizers did a real great job .. i can only remember Jims name .. what a wonderful man - saw him many times walking by and talking to folks .. go to see personal effect from organizers . It was all in all a great event .

I did caught my first fish in Indiana - a carp was just few mins late though .. hooked the fish at 4.03 pm :(

Thanks again to all the organizers and fishermen..
