  1. My inlaws are in town this weekend, so I'll be busy. Not happy, but busy :-)

I am thinking of fishing on Friday morning around 5 am . I mainly work from home and can be out till about 8 am. Will probably hit Anoka.

Next week, I can fish any day after 4pm. Looking forward to fishing with more guys. I'm also interested in finding more decent spots on rivers, which can accomodate 4-5 anglers. Most of my are pretty good but the areas without tree cover (for casting out), are limited...

    'Not happy, but busy :-)'

I hope ur wife does not visit this forum :D

  2. I'm open Saturday morning. I used to fish at coon Rapids damn. Though, I've been wanting to try the trout pond for carp.

i never seen any carp in ceniko .. the last time i checked coon was about a month ago .. the small dam side the water was very low about 6-8ft low.. dont know how is it now. we can always fish the main river . Ill let you know about saturday by this friday.

  3. lewiscarp,carpyer,

I met and fish with chacya at anoke a few times.. long plans do not work for me well.. I decide on friday for weekend fishing. I am thinking to go out this saturday .. think chaya may be interested .. you are very welcome to join ...

for spots I like coon rapid but last 4 outings been in anoka/champlin two rivers park ... u guys have a place in mind ?

  4. I know ..i know.. catchup with a group who are into cats ... they do some tournaments ...my friend there is no guarantee spot for big fish.. unless u are fishing some euro lake like Gigantic a for few days..

and those guys who catch those big ones would not share the GPS co's :D .

  5. I've been meaning to fish tonka for carp. Seen some pretty big ones in Greys Bay. The only only problem is minimal public access. :(

Definitely agree on meeting up for a nice session.

to be frank i heard a lot of storys of big fish at tonka.. I been at quite a places around and could not see any real big ones.. other think about mn is i observe a 10-12 lb fish is monster for many spectators .. I been fishing the missi for last 3 years the biggest so far was 18 something.. I am still waiting for a 20 here..

Garys toward the dam is good early spring u can see 100's of them after few days of rain .. but nothing over 15's... the shore access is issue.. i been to tonka by maynards .. nice place but lots of boats on a sunny day... If u plan to fish those lakes try sunset bay .. much bigger shore access. or heard waconia .. few years back some bow hunter caught a 50+ there.. I been there to look around that place is huge .. Unless u find someone who knows that area i gonna take lots of effort..

    wish u luck.

  6. Doesn't look like I got much interest Jaffar. My other days off for July: the 29th 30th 31st.

Since you are the only Minnesotan who regularly communicates with me you pick the day(s) and that will be the date.

Finally got the dock finished on the 4th. Damn carp were taunting me jumping all around us while we were busy working!

we got to run this one CT... try posting in outdoor mn forums and see if we can get any interest .. just 2 of us be no fun.. we need atleast 4-5 anglers...

  7. come on guys this will be first fishing in MN ..please help to make it happen.. I know it be a long drive for most of you but anybody in wis - iowa can make it .. CT is already offering us place ..food etc . I can add some gift cert for tackle to winners .

I can absolutely guarantee you fish here .. there of tons of fish to catch .. in lakes - rivers here .. at times on good days you can walk across shore on their heads.

  8. hi all,

i live in plymouth and have been carp fishing minnetonka heavily the last couple of summers. i'd love to meet for a fish in on some of the local lakes, keep me posted if possible.

    -Z

keep an eye on this thread .. CT may do 1 in july .. btw where you fish in minneatonka ...- seen any big one ? I live <2 miles from medicine .

  9. It may work for many others but I learned ..get the best hooks. I had tons of hooks from different brands..these were just some I got last time..

don't think line matters anyway with hook opening.

  10. How cheap were they??? I've got cheap hooks, now by cheap I mean not Nash or Korda prices. The only time I've seen ANY hook bent like that in my life was when pulling the hook free of a snag.

You really need to try braid. I had a tough time keeping fish of brush and other snags. Mono stretches which is beneficial a lot of the time. But not when trying to turn a big fish. Once I went to 25lb braid

I can control fish a lot better. If where you fish is like down here weeds are a problem. Braid cuts right through the weeds.

Looking at the weekend of the 11th for the fish in what do you think?

I fish both mono and braid based on situation. You just can't pick one over other.

  11. here are my two hooks from two fish i lost . I was playing on little tight drag 17lb mono main line 25lb hook link. when i lost the first fish i quickly changes the link and got a take after 2hrs and lost that 2nd one too .. did change quickly and was waiting for next bite... I was very frustrated with myself :D -- baffled what happened ... wait continue for another bite well it was a long wait i didnt get any runs after that for next 5hrs eod. while i was packing stuff i realize these hooks from my two fish lost.

Many may argue or experts would say - I been hard playing the fish ..I may kinda agree sort of .. I was doing that to keep the fish away from the snags/bouys near by ...but how the hell these hooks end up this way ?

I recon i bought these cheap hooks - my advice to beginners /starters ... Investing in rod/reel be 2nd but the hooks and bait should be the best one you should be get.
