  1. There's a reason why nets like that are not allowed in carp fisheries all over the world. I said it a million times, carp is not a bass or a pike. Do you really want to do this to a carp ?:

  2. Here's a result from this past Sunday on a very chilly afternoon. Only had 3 hours to fish but ended up with this 21.12 on a 'shaved' 22mm Fruity Peach boilie and plastic corn soaked in Betalin plus PVA mesh filled with three 16 mm boilies heavily soaked in Fruity Peach flavor and Betalin.

A simple running rig produced a slow but steady take that resulted in a titanic battle under the rod tip for close to ten minutes before I could slide this fish in to the net.

    Congrats ! That's a sexy fish

  3. Believe it or not, but all my carp and buffs have been caught on flavored canned sweet corn. Exception was my first three with Willem who furnished Tutti Frutti popups two years ago. Haven't caught anything on them since.

Corn always works. IMHO, if you can't catch carp in a lake with corn, you can't catch them with anything

  4. Corn doesn't work and chumming is against the law in Oregon.

Corn always work. You got to ask yourself if the bait is in front of the fish. Is the lake weedy ? Is the lake really deep ? You won't catch any carp if the bottom is at 60 feet. chumming is against the law in Oregon? Research PVA bags and PVA mesh

  5. Best US based bait company. everything they make is fresh, they don't store anything for months. And the owners are very, very nice people. While I respect other vendors like BCT or Wacker, K1 will always be my bait choice

  6. I need help getting started in carp fishing can some one help? I can't afford the gear to fish properly? Can you help?

Big Carp Tackle. Get 2 BFS rods , 12', 29$ a piece. Also, at BCT, get 2 NGT reel, I think they are 15$ a piece and they have line on the reels. Get 4 rod holders from cabella's at 1.50$/piece, some cheap hooks and a can of corn. That's the bottom budget for carp fishing IMHO. Some of us have 3-4k in gear, so I think that's the cheapest road for you

  7. The day ended better than I expected. I got probably 5-6 fish, all in the 12-15 range. Wafters and stick mix in PVA mesh did the job on all fish, zero bites on feeder, zero bite on corn, zero bites on boilies. I was also very happy to hook a rare sight at Ford Lake, a 12 pound mirror. It was cold but no wind, that made the day better

  8. No other country of origin, such as imported from the UK going through the USA into Canada or Mexico, is included under the NAFTA trade agreement. It applies only to products 'wholly' derived & manufactured in North America.

There is a 'process' that allows goods imported 'temporarily into the USA and then exported to say Canada to apply for a refund of duty. But it is not an an easy process or by any means guaranteed.

On the subject of Fedex and UPS - yes of course they charge a fee for customs clearance. It is generally around $25 per shipment which I can tell you is M-U-C-H less than other commercial shipping operations. This is because Fedex and UPS have set up their own operations to clear goods instead of 'hiring' a broker.

They shouldn't charge anybody any fee. When the shipper in UK gets a shipping estimate from Fedex, that should be it. If the US government has a problem with the merchandise, they should send us a bill, that way will know it's a real fee. I bought a lot of stuff from Europe and Australia, always used post office, NEVER got charged a dime by the post office. I bought a used book for 4$ from Canada and UPS wanted a 20$ "Mafia" fee? Really? I never gave them a cent. I don't mind paying customs taxes or any taxes as a matter of fact, I do mind paying them to a private company

  9. Nets like this one : http://www.walmart.c...ch-Net/36155632 hurt the carp, IMHO. It forces the fish to bend and twist like a Twizzler. You have all the chances in the world to mess up an eye or a fin. If you are really passionate about carp fishing and you are planing to take the fish out of the water safe, weigh it and take pictures, buy a carp net, it is the net that will put the least amount of stress on the fish. If you want to throw it like a pos around and don't care about it then buy whatever net looks stronger and cheaper to you. It is a choice you will have to make, buy the best net for the fish or buy the best net for you.

  10. I think you'll find NAFTA only applies to trade in goods manufactured in North America. So if goods are made in the UK for instance then import duty will still apply when shipped across the US / Canada border.

It also applies to duty ratable items shipped via USPS as the package requires a customs value and origin declaration to be attached to the package.

Yes and no. For example, Nafta says that if a product imported from UK into the US has paid import customs taxes, it is exempt from customs taxes if imported into again into Canada from the US.

But again, laws don't apply to the Fedex and UPS thing, they will charge you a fee for themselves, not for the government.
