I am sticking with my first guess of both fish going 50lb+ however
I want to narrow it down to 56lb for the first fish, and 52lb for the
second fish!So judge me on these weights please
It has to be nearly impossible to guess the weights of these types of carp
'on point' by photo without having experienced fish of this size and/or strain
in person, ect?Which 95% on this forum have not.Really,IMO its imposible to
guess the EXACT weights of any carp going by a photo?Of course there are
exceptions. But it is always fun trying to guess. This is a great thread/contest!

Iam going out on a limb here, and Iam going to say...both fish go 50lb+???
-
Pat-I believe you are 100% correct on the grass carp!
-
I have quite a few diferent drawings I have made of carp, but i have
to find a way to post them

Thanks for the info Waterwhril.I asked another guy from the UK,who is on
the forum and was told pretty much the same thing.Iam not going to the UK
myself. My aunt is a flight attendant and makes a trip to London every month.
So I have her get me what ever she can find that is carp related. But so far
she has had an easier time finding things in Frankfurt and Berlin than in
London Anyway I think she is pointed in the right direction now.
Thanks again.

Welcome to the Forum .....I remember a great article in Advanced
Carp Fishing awhile ago where the authors were after carp in the Tidal
Thames.I thought it was very interesting.
BTW--Waterwhirl,do you happen know of any shops or stores in the Hyde park/
Paddington Station area for buying carp magazines and possibly some tackle?
-
The lakes i have seen the carps eyes like this, the deepest water is 15ft or
less.
-
If the carp (Two Tone)is caught again( most likely it will be) they should retire
the fish and put it up at the nearest Zoo Aquarium!
-
I have seen fish with eyes like this more times than i can remember.
But it seems to be only on fish over 15lbs and most common on fish
of more than 20lbs.
-
there definatly is 'leather' koi.
-
thats an excelent fish Jerome.

Yes,they are eaten like mad down in SA.I know a guy that claimed
to have eaten one of his Pacu,he said it was not bad.but not sure if its true
or not.i believe he was insane
-
Thats the smaller species of Pacu(Red-Bellied,as the Pirahna) they max out at about 2ft in aquariums, where the Black Pacu can reach 4ft+ and well over 30lbs
in large aquariums.....what was it caught on?something fruity i bet?.
BTW-they are indeed schooling fish, that have a set of respectable teeth.
however their not used for stripping flesh, rather crushing fruits and seeds.
-
Sorry i know nothing of the RX 's performance.i know it has loads of features and is rated good though....however if your after a higher-end Fox alarm but a bit cheaper than the RX,i can recommend you the SX.
-
LXR are no longer made?.........are you buying used?
-
i tend to find carp in cold water at the same locations i do in warmer
water.
-
Scott-whats your hook size and rigging for bread?i mean besides free-lining?
i fish bread a good deal, and iam always interested in the ways(or new ways)
that others fish with it.
BTW-ever use the fake stuff?
-
Eels are BAD publicity in the UK aren't they i hear they have a fondness
of boilies?
-
i once had a few golden tench here in the US when i was keeping
a larger cold water aquarium.they are interesting fish, but i got rid of mine
to a shop that my friend owned and dont really know whatever happened
to them?they may be in someones garden pond weighing 5lb or more.
well one thing is for sure, for the last few years i have been after some
more.have had some good luck finding people who deal in them, but finding
people who accually can get them in stock is another not very popular
over here.
-
well Mark,i hope you leave some of those grassers for me.
i can catch the 20+ commons from that lake pretty easy as you
know, but the grassers have dodged me so far.things are going to
change really soon. Operation Carparosa has been put into effect
and its a strait blitz i want you to call me on my phone today
so we can disscuss it.
-
i want to know how in the hell do you guys catch these things
on maize?
i have had more than my share of grass carp over the years and
i have never once been able to get ONE,to look at maize.
and it just drives me insane how these guys in the UK/Europe
are useing maize, boilies, tigers, ect to catch these fish.
hair rigs don't seem to work for me either.
-
Scott, that is an awsome catch, and most esspcially from
a US water. and the fact that its not from Town lake,or
the St. Lawrence makes it even sweeter.its really a prize!
congrats, and i wish you many more.

Cactus-butterfly koi will grow the size of a common carp, but
you would rarely see one 15lb.the largest one i have seen
was at an amusement park in Florida and the fish was every
bit of 20lb.
-
its nothing but a butterfly koi with out coloration.
its NOT a goldfish or a hybrid, you can buy them at
any koi dealer in almost any color form.
