  1. Match anglers in the UK and Europe have been using the disappearing food source concept for years and years. :D

That is perhaps why those of us who have turned our attentions to carping and still use those match methods are carp catching machines!!!!! :D :D :D

It wasn't really until the advent of the Method for catching carp in the UK that grouyndbait/chum was anything more than an attractant, or carrier for flavoUr, it certainly couldn't have been called a food source...........

    K :D

  2. Redbud has only been pegged the last two years. I know it was fished fully both days in '06- The first day produced 3 fish from the 2 pegs( I don't know how the teams did day 2). Last year, some teams that had Redbud chose not to fish it.

There's alot that will go into that final decision- # of teams, availability of other pegs, how much that walk sucks, what has the weather been doing... The decision is not made, and no peg will be final until the day before the event.

Tracy, I'll let you know when I'm going down to Austin next-You're welcome to go with me to check out pegs.

Just ask The Kernal about Redbud!!! :D:D:D

  3. Congratulations on a new P and comiserations on the loss of the camera!

I have lost too many cell phones in lakes and ponds to count, including one of those huge house brick types (The ones with a huge carry case that were about in the UK in the late 80's, real Del boy thing it was!!) I was fishing a match at a local lake and had put the huge monstrocity at the side of my seat box.....

3 hours later I had forgotten about it, got off my box to get something from my carryall, and kicked it straight of the wooden pallet, into 4 feet of water!!

I know what the problem is here with my post guy..............

He dreads coming to my house.....He told me that!!! :D

We always have a bunch of stuff for him, or vice versa. :D

I bought 2 flat rate boxes of lead of a guy one time a couple of years ago, they weighed 50lb each...................The postie was pi$$ed. :D :D

Add that to over 400lbs of free maize recently and my postie is looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger!!!! :D :D :D

I think he dumps ALL of my mail these days in the dumpster at the depot!!! :D :D

  5. Why do we have to have this "I haven't received my NACA yet" ever 3 months? I haven't got mine either, and I'm the Editor!!

The postal service is completely out of our control... they've been mailed, so please, everyone just needs to be patient. :D

I haven't got mine yet, what is it with you NACA staff that you can't get these mags out to everyone on the same day??? :D :D :D :D

Nice pic's and pod. Did you catch anything?

    Kent

Thanks, I have 2 of those Amiaud Peche pods..........I like them a lot ofr the big reservoirs here, so easy to adjust if the tow on the lake gets too bad.

As for catching they caught bugger all, I am unfortunately months away from being able to cast a rod let alone fight a fish. Just my wife carol and he were actually fishing.

To be quite honest the fishing was just a by-product of the day out for us, the weather was in the mid 70's (That is hot as hell for a guy from the UK at the moment!), the scenery breathtaking............All in all what fishing is all about (without the fish!)

We sat and reminisced about the days as young teens (30 years ago) we caught our first load of carp on homemade boilies. It used to take hours to crush all of those cat biscuits with a hammer and a tea towel.. Ingrediants like cassein, lactoblumen, and wheat gluten were too expensive for 13 year olds.............

Nothing better than catching on your own baits that have taken hours to make.............The first fish taken was a 14lb'er which at the time was the largest in the lake and was targeted by many people unsuccessfully :D

My friend still makes his own baits for river fishing. His freezer is a mess of stinking paste baits and home made boilies.

He turned his back on the carp game in the 90's and now targets barbel and chub on the rivers of the UK, he does however use a lot of the same tactics as the carpers and catches his fair share of big carp 'by accident' :D

Although he his specialising in fishing into the large weirs with 8- 10 ounces of lead required to hold the bottom.

  7. A couple of pics from Fridays session at a local reservoir here in California.

Angler is a lifelong buddy of mine over from the UK. (he actually caught the first ever carp on my home made boilies back in 1978/9) :D

Thought I would share it with all you guys that are snowed or iced in! :D
