  1. Jake

Seen lots of people break their alarms at the bottom, I did the same on a Fox Micron by screwing that last little bit tighter to get it sitting in line on my pod.......I knew I should have just adjusted it with the little knurled ring nut on the thread, but was just too lazy.

Had a guy return a Delkim EV not long ago, said that "It broke when I was screwing it into the bankstick"..... :D .....You could plainly see he had done exactly the same thing as I had and tightened it too much :D :D :D

I would concentrate on making larger ice holes to get the fish out of if I hooked one.... :D :D (But then again my ice fishing days are over hopefully!!!!) :D

Keep at it though, it is amazing to think you are catching (or hooking) carp in those temps :D

    Karl :D

  2. There's a shi-ite one as well...Herk and I and the Kirkman brothers blanked there last year..

    Tom

If Carl doesn't show up will you give me second dibs on the bridge pe

Not another poor Brit for Tom to fleece!!! :D

Like lambs to the slaughter eh Tom??? :D

    Karl..........(With a K!!! :D )

  3. I'd be holding open the second week in March if I were you. I just spent a few days in TN with Scotty, Andy, and Wayne. There was much disscussion of the event but it isn't for me to elaborate. It would break my heart should you miss this event though. Given the chance, I will be pegging your big old hairy arse, paylake style. You'd best give your (( gas home money )) to someone you trust. :D So far as your partner goes, you might be thinking of a way to get the crick out of his neck, watching Colin and myself haul. You should be able to get plenty of sleep though,as long as you bring along some ear plugs, due to my beepers. :D Another thing you can count on is the fun and good company you will enjoy. :D

    Tom.

ps I don't think there is anything any better than fleecing two Brits Souther Paylake Style. There is a God in Heaven. :D

    Hairy arse????????????Wrong guy mate!!! :D

Don't worry mate, my gas money is safe, quite sure of that!!!

Heard all the talk before Tom from anglers way better than any that will be attending, in fact it was a weekly event for me.

I look forward to hearing all about the plans for it.......................Eventually!!!!! :D

    Karl :D

  4. Should Colin and I draw the bridge peg I'll give it to you straight up my brother. I'd not take too much stock in the bridge peg if I were you. It's just a lazzy mans peg, not what we should be looking for at all. Now you have two chances for the bridge peg. :D

    Tom

That is a most generous offer, and should this $10,000 event ever get off the ground and I attend and you draw the bridge I will graciously accept the peg from you. :D

That way I will be able to sit on my comfortable bedchair, in my comfortable bivvy and let my more than able partner win the event for us. :D :D

Having never seen the bridge peg, or any of the stretch, I am only taking the views of several people who have fished the length, without exception they all stated that the bridge peg will produce the winner....As i understand was the case at the last event held there, guys on the bridge bagged up while those away from that area struggled for fish........

As I know you are well aware, any kind of structure makes for a good holding area for carp, thus eliminating the need to draw fish in from out of the area. Thus giving an advantage to anyone on the bridge peg with any idea!! :D

I guess if it happens only time will tell, but I tend to take the advice of those that have fished there as a starting point for any plan I would make before fishing it. :D

But at the moment due to a total lack of information on the event I guess all the above is a bit moot!!!! :D

I am planning a trip to TN to fish with a friend next year, I just hope it doesn't coincide with any event plans :D :D :D

    Karl :D

  5. Karl.

I do hope that you are at 100% when I take your money this spring in TN. :D I'll be not in the mood for excuses. :D

    Tom.

100% or not Tom, I will be trying to pull that bridge peg!!!

From all I have heard of the venue, you don't need to be 100% if fishing it!! :D :D :D

  6. Karl -

Wasn't it you that came up with that affectionate moniker?

Instant carpers came up in a converstaion on here, and my old mate Zach jumped all over the topic all defensive.................... :D:D (Must have been a guilty concience!! :D )

We sorted it out when I met him face to face, as I said it was never Zach that was being referred to. Zach is well aware of whom we were talking about :D

Zach is a great guy, and I love spending time with him on the bank, he is a thinking angler, who is prepared to do things that so many others I ahve fished with in the past just would not try. :D ............He really gets the whole carp fishing picture here in the US.

His casting is a bit off though!!!! :D:D

    Karl :D

  7. The 2008 ATC is sure to be a fun event and it is shaping up beautifully. We have secured the wyndham hotel once again and it is done with its renovations, the price is right and the fishing will be great . Karl that 40 is waiting for you to catch it again . Stick with the tried and true , we have all the answers to your questions <_<

    Mark

Thanks for the reply.....................I was beginning to think the mods had messed with me and my posts were invisible to all but myself....(I know, you wish!!!)

The ATC has always been a fun time for me, I have been lucky enough to catch a crap load of fish from Towne and Austin, I am looking at pastures new this year, and thought the idea of a $10,000 event might be the one for me.................But perhaps you are right to stick to the tried and tested.

As I can't get an answer to my basic question :D (For whatever reason) I will probably just do one of Daves ACS events next year, and maybe the Specialist tourney, actually the orthapeadic (sp?) specialist has told me that my shoulder may take until April to mend properly so this 'proposed' event in TN may not be for me anyway, and after talking to a couple of guys that have fished the 'bridge' more than anyone I am still reliably informed this will be won at the draw!!!

Oh well I guess there was no harm in asking :D:D

  8. Final details are being polished up now and I plan to have them published later this week.

I'll get it all worked out this week and post it up :D

    Still no reply???????....................... :D :D

What about I get someone else to ask this question then??? :D :D (I'm probably on your ignore user list :D ....I even took you off mine so I could get the information) :D :D

At least 4 separate requests for information, after a statement stating that plans will be published 'later this week' (November 4 2007) :D :D

Come on Wayne or John, you tickle our a$$es then clam up about it......................As I said, vacation time to book!!!

    Waiting with bated breath!!! :D

  9. Final details are being polished up now and I plan to have them published later this week.

I'll get it all worked out this week and post it up :D

Any news on this $10,000 winner takes all event in Tennessee Wayne or John? (Or should that be John Wayne, he was a cowboy too***!!) :D :D :D

I am genuinely interested in this deal, and may have to make the drive down there.

As much information as possible please it will be about a 2100 drive each way for me, so I would love to get some preliminary plans made for it.

    Thanks

    K

*** Again I feel I have to add this disclaimer that I am only joking here.....Sometimes you get sick of the Pms from numpties with no sense of humoUr you know!!!!

  10. Yeah between the earthquakes and the brush fires.

Mate, I would prefer both of those to living amongst a bunch of Canadians!!! :D:D:D

Oh and not to mention your very own natural disasters too......Hurricanes, Tornados, Devastating Floods, Tsunamis, Tidal Waves, Rockslides, Approximately 10,100 Forest Fires (annually), Avalanches, Ice Storms.........NEED I GO ON???? :D

In fact I would hazard a guess (Well not a guess, because I know it to be fact!!) that their have been more people killed in Canadian natural disasters than in Californian ones. :D

And having experienced both places I know where I would (And do) prefer to live.

    K :D

  11. Hey, if you're willing to stick it out, more power to you! ....to anyone willing to go out.

A bad day of fishing, even in winter, still beats a great day at work.

Yeah ...............I used to think like that too!!! :D:D

Not now though, much rather spend a few hours flogging a bit of kit to some facilities director at a hospital than sit freezing my nuts off on the bank..............Been there, done that, fished the Winter Leagues in the North of England for 20+ years............ :D ,

Used to have fun doing it too........You know trudge down a frozen snow covered river bank with all my gear sweating my nuts off, get to the bit of river designated as my peg, spend the best part of an hour throwing out a 24" pipe wrench fixed to a length of heavy chain, attached to a long rope, to break the ice, spend another half an hour clearing out all of the broken ice so I could fish. Sit down for 5 hours fishing, then pack up and trudge down the river bank again....................No thanks mate!! Not on my watch!!

The only thing worth looking forward to sometimes in those days was the thought of a few pints in the boozer after the match. :D

You are welcome to that white stuff, I will get to experience my annual bit of snow by driving an hour upto the mountains this winter for a drop of skiing, good thing is that it is usually in the 70's even up there!!!!! And if it isn't then it will be down to the beach for a bit of body boarding instead!!!

Say what you want about California, but there are only a few places in the world where you can ski in the morning and be surfing in the ocean by lunchtime, or playing on dirt bikes in the desert, fortunately I live in one of them...............1 hour to the slopes , 45 mins to the beach, or 45 minutes to the desert...............luverly!!!!!!! :D:D Throw in the year around, pretty good carp fishing within a few miles and it isn't such a bad place to live..............Honestly!!!!! :D:D
