  1. As is the thread starters prerogative!! :D

Now I have been told that it could be a waste of my time traveling to TN for this as if you do not draw the 'bridge' pegs you may as well stay home.........That right?

It is a long way to travel for an event that could be won from the draw bag.

I look forward to seeing how the plans for this unfold, and I never say never, so it might happen for me.

I guess I should just book the whole of March off work

    K

  2. Any dates for this yet then?

    Any news on prizes?

    Entry Fees?

    Numbers of interested parties?

Any plans for lodging or is it going to be a full on, on the bank deal, with bivvies etc?

    Venue??

Is it one of your events then Wayne?

How's your back? Promise me if I do make it across that you will stop taking your meds a few days before the event, you are wayyyyyyyyy funnier without them! :D :D

So many questions and so little time.

  3. The $10,000.00 Tennessee Team Shoot Out is also in March 2008. The date does not clash with the ATC but either way it looks like you need some time off in March Karl :D

Do you have any dates for this event John?? I tried to find out more details and could only find 'The end of March"

I just may force myself to come and meet all of you down there!!!

It would be fun I think!

What is the nearest airport to the vent venue?

    Karl :D

  4. I'm sure you would have done well at the Tennessee event, I would have liked to have a crack at that one, But I'm lacking bait :D

Good to see the ATC is going ahead, I trust the hooter girls will be making a showing for this.

    Kev

Maybe I will do a whistle stop tour and stop in Michigan too.

I could drop you some much needed bait off too while I am there. :D :D

    Hooters girls?????????? :D :D

    Karl :D

  5. You would enjoy fishing in TN as well as the state itself. Maybe you can even teach me how to fish! :D:D

I will certainly touch base with you if I am heading your way Kent. :D :D I have heard only good things about you! :D

Don't know about teaching you anything though, I am just lucky when I go fishing! :D

    Karl :D

  6. Thanks you for posting this info up

I am still undecided whether I will attend this year, I probably will not, instead maybe opting for one of Big Daves ACS tournies, or the Specialist one, or even just getting out and maybe meeting some of the guys I haven't yet.

I quite fancy the idea of tussling with some of those Tennessee fish, (**They haven't had a real angler target them yet!!!) :D :D :D but I wanted to find out the dates.

I guess I will have to make up my mind soon as I have to book my vacation time at work.

    Karl :D

**I guess I have to write that I am only joking when I said the Tennessee fish haven't had a real angler target them yet, 'cos there will be some knumbskull who takes offense :D

Anyway Carol would take Tennessee apart!! :D

  7. It is now November and with the ATC now in the not to distant future, and knowing that an event like this takes plenty of time to come together, I was wondering how are plans shaping up.

Vacations need to be booked way in advance for some people, do we have any dates yet??

    Karl :D

  8. Hi Longshort

Which of the LA lakes are you fishing??

I fish and know a lot of guys who fish at themm every week, you should hook up with them..

Check out their forum at www.socalcarpclub.com

    Karl

P.S. You cannot chum here in So Cal, but you sure can feed the ducks a lot of stuff here. :D:D

P.P.S. Excuse our resident eccentric old dodderer, Phonebush, he doesn't know about how pressurised the lakes here in So. Cal really are, those in the know realise that there are many pressurised lakes in So Cal. (Sorry Phone, but not everywhere is like the boonies you fish out there) :D:D

  9. It finally arrived.

Got to say it was worth the wait......................Stewart and Zach have taken this thing to a new high.....Congratulations on a job very well done.

It is amazing what can be achieved in such a small period of time........Well done guys!!!

We were told for long enough that what has just been done, could not be done, just shows with a few fresh faces and a few fresh ideas, that great leaps can be made in short periods of time.

Thanks to those two guys, and to Richard Sommerville, for his tremendous help with the printing and ink costs, I know how much you saved the group with your knowledge and generosity............Not bad for a guy who wasn't even a bloody member at the time!!!! :D :D

Hopefully this will be the first springboard required to catapult us to bigger and better things.

What we need now is more content, content that targets guys from outside the sport..............Nothing does that better than photographs of huge carp.

A HUGE WELL DONE FROM THIS PARTICULAR MEMBER IN CALIFORNIA..............YOU HAVE DONE WHAT WAS SAID BY SOME, COULDN'T BE DONE :D :D

    K :D

  10. After watching a school of carp move through my are one day and watch them feed you will think twice. This was when I first started early in the year and was always scared of adding too much to the water. I had chummed out 4 cans of corn and when the school came in it was gone within 2 minutes if that. They sucked the bottom dry and moved on.Each session I fish now depending on how long I stay I chum 2.5 to 10 gallons of chum out. If this is a swim you fish a lot I would chum a lot out prior to fishing it and when you go to fish chum some out right before fishing then a spod out every 30-40 minutes while fishing.Karl I remember you saying before when you would go out on a boat and chum 100lbs that when you look down that it would spread so far that it was like a drop in the bucket. You have to realize when its in your bucket on the bank it sure looks like a ton but once baited out it spreads and current moves it and so on. If I were you try various chums to see what works best for you. I have used corn and method and the method has held them in my area better than the corn.

    Too right Brian

If you or anybody wants consistent results getting some bait down is paramount at most places IMHO.

If you guys got the chance to see what 100lb of maize looks like after you chum it out, you would be very surprised indeed!!! I am lucky enough to fish quite a few venues that are gin clear and have looked at 250lbs of maize, tigers, seeds on the bottom from a boat, it disappears as if you haven't even chummed it up. :D

As shoal of 20lb+ fish can get through that lot in no time. I know I want that shoal to stick around for a few hours, not a few minutes!!!!

100lbs of bait in an area in front of you that will hold a few carp that are passing is NOTHING!!!!

I laugh when guys tell me they think they put too much free stuff out, and have only put in 5 cans of sweetcorn!!!!

Get 'er filled in for top shelf results!!!! :D :D

  11. Most of the entrants are Polish or Czech and they all shop at WB&T for their bait & bait ingredients.

Yep Good guys those Poles and Czechs, that also shop at a Californian Tackle store too!!! :D:D Not just ingredients either!!! :D:D

Sounds like a great tourney..............Wish I could have made it!

  12. well back from getting married and I am about to start getting all these new advertisers ready for the next one....thanks to richard for helping me line this up...he not only donated the ink but turned me on to the printer as well....I am glad you guys enjoyed it stewart is the man...

Hey congrats in your recent nuptials you muppet!!!

Wish I could see the bloody mag though, guess the Pony Express ran out of oats again!!! :D :D

    Karl :D

  13. Ray Mumford was the best tiddler basher, I'm sorry...Matchman I ever saw in action.

Tommy Pickering was known as the 'Bionic Bleaker' he was unbelievable to watch catching huge nets of bleak on the Trent back in the day!!!

Nobody ever targeted them as worthwhile in match fishing until Tommy blizted a few matches with huge nets of them, then every one was trying to get them!

Tommy is another English ex World Champion :D ..........and a great angler :D

    K :D

  14. Wouldn't go as far to say the best match angler ever, but up there with the likes of Ivan Marks, Roy Marlow, et al,

but wouldn't put him in the same class as the maestro himself .... Billy Lane

Alan is twice the angler Ivan Marks was! Although it was a different era, way different conditions........Marks was a good national angler.....Scothorne is probably the best in the world and has been for sometime

There is no angler that has come close to achieving what he has achieved.

I would also put guys like the Kev and Benny Ashurst, Bob Nudd, John Allerton, Robert Trabbucco, Milo Columbo, plus one or 2 others above that pikey too!!!

Oh and Alan is a gentleman too, something that would never be said in the same sentence as Ivan Marks!

    Karl :D
