About Me

Hello fellow CAG members,

My name is Josh, from Pennsylvania, and since just recently in the spring of 2020 started my adventure with the European carp fishing style.  With the techniques of safe fish handling most of all and everything there is to learn with rigs and rod setups I was very interested right off the bat.  I purchased my first set of 9 foot nash dwarfs ,and okuma 8ks and was on my way.

I grew up right off the banks of the monongahela river near the Maxwell pool in fayette county Pennsylvania. Fished the banks since I was 8 years old with my grandmother. We was Always throwing bread in to feed the carp when ever we would go to the locks field after watching the baseball games.  Little did I know at that time I was looking at a future part of my anglers career.

I have to admit growing up the big thing around here was the paylakes. My uncle was a seasoned paylaker. Always chasing the dollar catching carp and cats. I would tag along and learn different baits and at the time "carp catching techniques " . After I grew older I grew away from that perspective.  Started out on my own in the wild waters for flathead cats mostly.

After meeting my wife I found out she loved making doeball and had a few very very unique recipes that worked amazing! We would go to a sand bar here close to home or some local ponds and try our luck during the summer.  Growing popularity in big cat fishing we strayed from carp unfortunately. Up intill we seen a loay from.a local that landed a 28.75 pound buffalo sucker. My wife ask...why dont we carp fish anymore? So she made up a batch of her favorite recipes, and me and the daughter was off to try our luck..with nothing more than medium action rods and single hooks we had a amazing night..landing 8 commons and one beautiful mirror! There on out it was a new burning passion.

Then that fall came my relationship with the European style. After countless hours researching, I set on nash rods, and since I was a okuma fan from flathead catfish fishing I had my mind set on the okuma 8ks. That first 15 pound common I landed on a size 15 pinapple popup on a ronnie rig.

It's been a full year now and my rig arsenal has grown as well as many new friends of the carp fishing family including my wife pam and son hunter ! Pam also as a set up now and is a darn good anglers.  With many many beautiful common carp, grassys , mirrors and buffalo's landed.

We are very proud to be apart of the Carp anglers team as well as the American carp society.
