Ah, June 29th & 30th... I am actually going to Syracuse to help with their kids event (same week-end):

I wish you luck, you're doing a good thing here. You may want to communicate on Facebook about this, on the CAG page.

Hey Sam,
I don't think I'll be able to make it due to other constraints, but very good of you to do so.
Just to better understand (and maybe plan for next year), would you mind explaining a bit more what the event is made of? And what you expect the helpers to do?

Had a blast on the bank side today with my good buddy Todd Richer. As a was giving a hand landing his mid 30s beauty, I hooked into an lower 30 gem. Good times.
A brace of 30s? Very cool!

It’s a river fish for sure and the redness was all over the fish. With a couple of scratches’ and the lack of scales I could see this being a spawn injury which is a good point. Thanks for the info. Dr. MO carper
I've seen a few fish like that, and I am pretty sure this is some sort of skin infection. I wouldn't touch such fish with my bare hands, quite frankly.

Well, I bow once again!.. I can't come close!..........why did you reel in the boat?- were you gonna dump the girls and use it as a carp boat? MO
The rowing boat snuck on me (they really don't make much noise!) while I was deep in a book, and somehow my line got caught under the boat (and triggered my alarm!), so I had to reel in the whole thing (boat and girls!) to untangle the mess... Powerpro rules, I didn't break my line, nor lost my rig! And I released the slightly flustered girls (and the boat!)...

Jerome, do you count all those as a PB? ?
I like a big fat wallet... Ladies... This is a family forum, I can't really elaborate, but let's just say this is a bit different..

Are you giving lessons to the less fortunate anglers looking to up their game:)?
Yeah, well, my Big4 score so far isn't exactly 'legend worthy', LOL.
But yes, I'll be happy to fish with you at some point. Don't hesitate to nag me by PM.

A walleye, now that's a first. Very cool.
So here is your new challenge. One day, I caught a wallet (with a couple of credit cards!). Another day, I caught a bra (I kid you not!). Oh, and yet another day, I reeled in a rowing boat with two pretty athletic girls on top. Money and ladies and fishing, plenty enough to make a man happy... Let's see if you can match that... ?

Oh boy. That is the next cover for the NACA, no doubt. Amazing!! Monster congratulations !!!

Hmmmm that’s bigger than any stream I’ve ever seen... it must be a very affluent stream ?
Actually... it is indeed fed by a surprisingly small stream a couple of miles upstream...
This being said, in French, ‘affluent’ can mean a fairly large tributary (for obvious reasons!)... and since the fancy words in English were usually ‘borrowed’ from French...

Er, no... Do I really need to teach you some English? ?

PS. the pic of the 30lb isn't too good, two very 'high' ladies took the picture, I was happy enough to see that they included all the required elements and didn't push it, LOL...

NEWS UPDATE!
A prize will be awarded to the angler who has posted the Biggest 4 Fish caught during the months of March, April & May... so don't delay in posting your captures!
Sounds good, but then the rule that we shouldn't upload more than the 4 biggest fish on the leaderboard needs to be tuned a bit. Example: if one catches two 40s in March (you wish!), four 30s in April, four 20s in May, one will need to keep all those fish in there to compete for both overall event and the monthly prizes...
Maybe the rule should be reworded as "don't create more than 4 new entries per month", or something like that.

Young Ryan and his mom were STOKED when I sent them a link to the online magazine today (cf. pic on page 23)... Cool.

Captures should be updated within 24 hours of capture.
I do appreciate (and agree with) the intent of this rule, but 24 hours is a little harsh. When traveling around, you often hit areas where proper Internet access (allowing to upload pictures) is hard to get. Some folks fishing big reservoirs for several days in a row (Dale Hollow comes to mind) may not have any access at all. Etc.
Maybe relax a bit this rule? I'd suggest to play a bit on 'should' vs 'must', e.g.
Captures SHOULD be reported within 48 hours of capture. They MUST be reported within one week of capture.

Totally agree Keith. This would eliminate the confusion. Rule says this:
"To qualify for a Regional Award you must act within all the Rules for the Spring Big 4 2019 and have the State of Capture started in the Leaderboard for all fish in your top 4 which MUST be the same State. "
Should say this:
"To qualify for a Regional Award you must act within all the Rules for the Spring Big 4 2019 and have the State of Capture started in the Leaderboard for all fish in your top 4 which MUST be the same REGION. "
Yes, clearly.
Phil, could you please update the first post? This confused me too...

MOST UNUSUAL CATCH EVER!!!!!
in Beginning Carping
Posted
Here is another VERY unusual catch from yesterday... I was exploring a new lake, found a nice spot, I was doing some plumbing with my regular carp rig (3oz inline lead, size 6 hook), I didn't have anything on the hook, I reeled in and I felt a fish... HUH? Turned out to be a small pickerel! It probably went after the lead and somehow found the hook! Now that is a first for me!
