  1. SWMO,

Ordered a 8wt and the freebie combo that comes with it I ordered a 6wt.

    MrP,

I did land a carp while on Lake Las Vegas Monday. It took a artifical off the top near a harber where people occasionally feed them so not a real test of skill! :yourock: The fight was a lot of fun even though it was probably barely over 10lbs.

I have some old copies here of the NACA so I'll go back and find that. Or I could just look it up on line since Louis set that cool feature up recently for all CAG members. I do plan on having some fun with it. I've not let this year be a total waste. I've put together a list of places to visit that should yield decent results. Recently a guide told us(Green Country Flyfishers) about fishing on the lower IL below tenkiller dam. It has trout year around and apparently has a decent head of carp. The guide said fly fisherman are now setting up trips there to specifically target carp with him. Thought that was very cool.

    Thanks for the input everyone.

  2. After being too busy this year I ordered myself a beginner fly rod and reel www.Albrightflyfishing.com No excuses going forward.

I did take a fly casting class last year and I'll be practicing more this winter. May even try to tie a few carp flies.

Myself and a local fly fisherman(now a carp angler) did start looking for some flats to go after them in '10 around here and there seems to be some serious potential.

Does anyone target them like they do on a flat bottom bottom boat for bonefish like seen on TV? That looks to be our best option to cover the largest area. I have a 16 ft Lowe 1652 mod-V that should work...shouldn't it?

  3. Thanks to everyone that sent in a PM or email they plan on being at the CAWC event. Makes planning on our end much easier calculating payouts, etc.

I had a question on the pairs and team and why we do that. Is it required?

Pairs(2-man team) from countries and/or sponsors can form a Team (6 anglers/3 pairs) to represent their country and/or sponsor. If you just received the latest Carpworld magazine you will see "Team Carpworld" from England won yet again(congrats to them for winning a few years in a row now at the WCC).

Pairs can find other pairs to form a Team. There is no limit on the number of Teams. We plan on capping this off at 150 pairs right now so there can't be more than 50 teams. It isn't a requirement to be on a team either if you just want to fish as an individual pair.

It's just another angle(bragging rights) to add to bigger competitions. It also may help a team aquire sponsorships is where it can help the anglers.

The way we score our Team event is on a point system-

If we end up with 100 pairs the winning pair would receive 100 points. 10th place would receive 90 all the way down to last place receiving 1 point.

As an example for a Team:

    Blue Team-

    Pair #1 places 10th = 90 points

    Pair #2 places 20th = 80 points

    Pair #3 places 90th = 10 points

    Total 180 points

    Red Team-

    Pair #1 places 30th = 70 points

    Pair #2 places 35th = 65 points

    Pair #3 places 40th = 60 points

    Total 195 points

Red team would place ahead of the Blue team.

If a 2 Pairs have the exact weight, big fish breaks the tie to determine where they fall in the placement.

As of right now we plan on the winning Team to receive around $10,000 cash prize.

Another question was payouts on places and we have 1s through 8th(maybe 10th) receiving a cash prize. Those numbers are still being massaged, but should be close for places being paid.

  4. Sounds good Dave, I'm hoping to get a week in next year at about this time as I've yet to fish this River in Autumnal conditions - looking forward to it already

    Marcus,

It would be great to see you and fish with you.

AF Bob said something about organizing a week long $50/$100 each Big 4 fish/move where you want format Winner take all- but I'll let him sort that out!

The conditions were great when I was there river wise. There is a lot of weed, but it's in the stage where it pulls out easily. Water level was great opening up a lot of bank space.

  5. Are there any U.S. teams being orgainized?? Keeping in mind that a team is six anglers. :o Will Big Carp Tackle be sponsoring a Team from the U.S.?

    Tom,

I'll let the USA Teams sort that out-

Pairs and Teams were defined above? You miss that? :yourock:

To make things a bit less confusing we are referrring a Pair as a 2-man team and a Team as a set of 3 pairs that will make a country and/or sponsored team

BCT doesn't sponsor anyone(except me and I'm busy! ). We leave sponsorship up to the manufacturers goods we retail. :P Not to mention if we did sponsor anglers/teams I'm sure(and rightfully so) cause some concern as a conflict of interest.

  6. With the 2009 season wrapped up Kathy and I will have a bit of down time to focus on the big event in 2 years. I spent a week there during the same time we'll be holding the event 2011 just a few weeks ago. Should be enough pegs for 125-150 pairs. I'll be back again in September 2010 for a couple of weeks firming up peg locations and fishing some of them. (anyone wanting to join us is welcome) Goal is to have the peg possibilities on-line a better part of a year in advance.

I plan on going to Austria in December to meet with other country ICFA reps to get a feel for how many pairs/teams they would like allocated to their country.

One goal is to allow for as many countries to be represented as possible.

That said with the USA being the host country we want to make sure anyone interested representing the USA has their name on the preliminary list. So far we are up to 80+ pairs from around the globe that have contacted us to be on the registration list.

    CARP TS email

We will send everyone on the list an email and make it public knowledge(Carpworld) about the number of teams allocated per country after Jan. 1 2010. Those pairs/teams requesting a place will have until July 1, 2010 to get their $500 depost per pair in to secure their reserved spot. Any unclaimed positions are then released on a first come first serve basis. Cost will be $2500 per pair just like in 2005. Remainder amount will be due by March 31, 2011. After that if their is a waiting list those people will be offered the open positions.

To make things a bit less confusing we are referrring a Pair as a 2-man team and a Team as a set of 3 pairs that will make a country and/or sponsored team.

We will also need a huge team of Head Marshals(15-20) and Weigh Masters(40-60). If you are interested in that please contact us also. You get passes to all the parties that aren't open to the general public.

More details will come out after the first of the year and all of 2010 as they unfold. So we may not have the answers right now to some of the details.

Main point is to make sure we get the word out and have all those wanting to represent the USA have a that opportunity.

I've personally spoke with a great deal of best anglers around the world that plan on attending. Looks like it will be a fantastic event so don't miss out by participating or being part of the event team.

  7. Leaderboard is updated. Closing in on 1700lbs total and 100 fish caught. Not bad considering the the weather. We wrap up at 10am and will be adding pics from the event over the next few days. We are planning on holding this event again next year in the same area so plan now to join in on the fun.

  8. Tom,

Glad to see you made it up there on the hill. Louis and I noticed at night there is like a black bar pointing skyward from the monument the the way the lights are positioned around the monument.

If I make it back next year, I'm definitely taking a nice camera to get more pics of it.

Enjoyed hanging out with you and Colin in France!

    David
