  1. Most swims fish at 200-350 yards out and the majority of carp are landed from the boat. The stock is still not fully catalogued but there are around 6 known 80's of which 2 go over 90 at certain times of the year, there are at least 8 known 70's and a guesstimate of 50 x 60lb+ fish in over 200 acres of water. They're some statistics!

Incredible! That is one serious fishery and some very serious fishing!!!

  2. Thanks you for sharing another great video Jerome!yourock.gif

It's great to see how the fish attack the too tight pack bait, this reflects the rod tip movements we will usually see before a take. I will at times, tighten up method on a feeder in fast river water, this is sometimes necessary in very fast moving water because the current will move my presentation. The difference being that the hook is hair rigged and is not buried in the method, takes will happen more often than not. And sometimes the fish and the method ball will get retrieved together laugh.gif!

Tom has a point though, I don't think a seasoned paylaker would make their pack so tight....

  3. Go inexpensive on the vice. You will be tying hairs on # 4-8 size hooks and inexpensive vices will do the trick. Cost should be less than 20 bucks. The expensive vices are made to tie either very small or very large hooks.

    Try this:

I have always wondered whether a vise would be useful for tying hairs and I have wanted to look into this. The rotary vise is intriguing and probably overkill. But not knowing much about vises brought me to this website: http://flyfishohio.com/Vise%20Review%201/Fly_Tying_Vise_Shoot-Out.htm

Good reviews on the lower end models with some very nice choices.

  4. Thanks, Paul.

Speaking of energy, we will need it as we combat the rain once again tomorrow morning. There is a 50% to 60% chance of showers from 8 a.m. until noon. Then, the chance of precipitation drops to 30% until 2:00 p.m. Then, we should be home free. ~8

Don't forget that peg choice is at 6:30 a.m., but we only fish until 4:30 due to the early sunset this time of year.

Trophies came in for the Turkey Trot Tourney. Don't let me forget to give Cory his trophy.

Good luck to all. I still think we'll do better than Turkey Trot results.
