I agree, having a level playing field to gain the right to represent...America is a melting pot and anyone legally here should be welcome to fish team USA
-
Tom,
I am having a hard time with the definition of an “American carp angler”.
Everyone here on these forums, whether they fish paylake style or euro style, are using boilies, method, pack and the “puff” or are simply just tying a worm to a hook and casting it out there, is a carp angler – the majority of which are American, whether born so or nationalized to. Just because someone is fishing a different style, or method, be that "euro" style, or "paylake", or whatever else, does not make them less American in my opinion.
If I were fishing on this particular "Team USA", I could understand your frustration and anger - being that I am still BRITISH. It would be far more appropriate for me to be on "Team ENGLAND".
Now, next year, once I finish off my citizenship application, would it be wrong for me to fish for "Team USA", as I would then be American, and would be damn proud to be so, regardless of what style I chose to fish?
Just having a hard time understanding where all this anger is coming from. Do please help me understand...
Thanks
John
no where have I talked about style of angling, just honest usa representation. Taking the best of what an angler knows is how the game is played. Being cod-locked on all Euro sucks so far as team USA is concerned. No one should dictate the teerms an angler competes understanding that he or she has earned the honor of representing the USA. NOT the whims of another Euo guy that knows all.

I'm assuming you mean a 'Native' American bow hunter right Tom???
TEAM U.S.A. What does this mean to you? A team, from the USA, that represents the USA? Any time U.S.A.'s reputation is at stake no matter what the event, it should be just that. Even if they are ""Native American bow hunters". The very mindset that true American carp anglers are stone age is unacceptable. I can only imagine this is the same talk that goes on in Europe to all the attendance of this world event, by those that are suposed to be representing the U.S.A. This whole bit of Euro anglers being the only way us Americans can compete is a complete joke. Yes, us American carp anglers are a Joke to those like our CAG director, VP and event organizer Mr Savayman. If he has the balls to say this on the forum, no telling what he tells his Euro brothers about us American carp anglers.
I am very proud of my American heritage, and do not take it lightly when such trash is talked about us American carp anglers, here and abroad. Having Americans that will take up for America is just as important as the position they might qualify in any event much less a Europian world event. My thoughts have nothing to do with any team winning anything but instead having the U.S.A. being truly represented by Americans that will hold the stars and stripes high along with their heads, and mean it.
Is there any other country that would expect any thing less?? I think this whole thing has been taken to the extreme both with the qualifying, and the management. The way I take it is that there are no Americans that can truly represent the USA so the Euro guys must do it for them.... Complete trash and to say it is a slap in the face is putting it mildly. Raped is more the term. Each and every American angler has been Raped/violated/bushwhacked by those that set the event up as so no American carp anglers might attend. Shame on those that did this as well as shame on those American carp anglers that put up with it.
This is where I lost all respect for you Mr CAG VP. I'm an Appalachian American proud enough to have given my blood for our great country, as did my father, and his father before him, and his father before him, all the way back to the Spanish American War. Yes, my grandfather shed his blood to save England from total destruction. I'm Proud to be an American no matter what ya'll , better than thou, Euro guys think. Fact is this event and others, have been stolen from those whoes heritage demands nothing less than representing the very country they shed their blood for. Team U.S.A. should be what it says. nothing more, nothing less. You can put lipstick on a PIG but it's still just a pig. Yes, I have toned down my attendance on this board as of late but not when it concerns the USA and those that represent American Carp Angling to the World.

Tom, as much as I agree with you on your points of who or why the Team is what it is, I know a good number of anglers that took a pass on being involved because of the costs, lack of time, politics, and the fact there is no "Pay-Day" if you win which goes counter to the way American Athletes/Sports participation works here and I can understand the lack of interest in participation as much as I regret that Americans don't really work together well enough to actually be involved in the first place. So I wish them luck, and hope for the best because although you may not agree with whose there......fact is they are better prepared than the last group to fish on the International Stage and as a competitor they deserve my respect for stepping up to the plate.
On a side note, it is really a shame that folks would hi - jack someone's section, and thread while they are out of the country and involved in a competition after spending so much time, effort and money. And most offensive is that it would come from a State Chair in the form of bashing another State Chairs work, a Good sponsor of CAG, and to discuss members of the team who are also long time CAG members is disgusting and inappropriate to the point they should be removed from positions in the club, and their sponsors should really think long and hard about the damage being done here by such thoughtless and selfish comments NOT IN THE OPEN FORUM. If there is no TEAM here it is surely do to the selfishness and arrogance that seems to breed on this site while pushing personal agendas.
Good Luck to the U.S. Team!!!
I'll tell YOU what is A shame, it is ashame that Team USA has been hijacked so other Europeans can attend this world event. In the past every effort was made to assure a true representation from the USA was made. Noon given this time.
As a true American Carp Angler I feel as if I've been raped and asked to be ashamed of it.
Regards
Tom.

While I know you mean nothing personal I would just say that no where have I said anything bad about team USA except for the method of their appointments. They are there and I hope they do well. However no matter how they do it will not be a reflection of anything American...jmhoHopefully we can get over some of the petty bitching and support these guys... Go Team USA
The Sections drawn for the World Carp Fishing Championships are:
Team USA Red - Section B:
Anglers - Bogdan Bucur & Mihai Aciu
Reserve - Eric Glazewski
Team USA White - Section A:
Anglers - Kevin Olivier & August Wells
Vice Captain - Alin Hosu
Team USA Blue - Section C:
Anglers - Sean Lehrer & Ivelin Petrov
Reserve - Christine Stout
Captain - Lee Young
I draw the actual peg numbers for each section tomorrow, approximately 3 hours before the start.
Team USA also attended the Opening Ceremony this evening, in the historic town of Piegaro. I had the pleasure of seeing a new Team carrying their nations flag with pride through the streets again; another memory of a lifetime.

Not true in angling Tom...Team USA are consistent though....consistently last or thereabouts...across multi disciplines as well, carp fishing, coarse match fishing, fly fishing...I do believe they do quite well at ice fishing though...and if ever F.I.P.S decided to do put on a World Championship for how much ketchup you need in your rice I'm confident they would absolutely shine!
Let's hope these guys change some of that!
I guess catching the lake record at the world classic on Madine was just a fluke too.

Ya'll can't piss on my head and tell me its raining. While I thank all of the sponsors I can honestly say, as any sane person could, that the deck was stacked with the phony trials to further what someone thought was best for WHAT?? Representing the USA, representing a bait tackle complany, to further ones own personal thoughts on how they think this event might be wone?? Anyway to say it represents the USA in any way shape or form is just bollicks.
Someone please show me where I'm wrong here....
ps.. Americans are the worlds best at adapting and overcoming. They should be given a chance to show THEIR stuff.. JMHO
Kindest regards
Tom.

whose all in team usa i cant find it anywhere
This was my first question,,,unaswered.
-
My understanding is that bow and arrows aren't allowed in this event Tom...but seriosly...the team trials were open to all...
Yes they were. have a look at them, all designed to compliment the Euro approach. Correct me if I'm wrong.. Please...
-
Is there a single natural born American on team U.S.A., including the coach?? Is there a single angler on this team that might represent any form of traditional U.S A. carp angling? Looks like Euro guys using Paylake baits disguised as USA anglers. Someone please tell me I'm wrong....
Tom.
-
Just who might be the anglers that are representing the USA?? sorry but I missed it.
-
How does hook size come to play in competitions rather than off time angling?
-
Do flavors do a better job of being an attractant that the bait Plain, or do they just compliment the natural attractant of the bait? Why/Why not??
-
Are water temps in the spring different that the same water temps in the fall when choosing a bait? WHY??
Tom.
-
Why would carp have a preference in baits, or is the same bait OK year round?
Tom.
-
In most conditions, which is best; the hair and method or the hair and packbait? Looking forward to a few responses from those that use the hair rig.

Looks like the boilie pros have other things to do... Can't blame them though, getting their clocks cleaned by the puff in a big fish event would require a pint or two to swallow.

CAG has helped more anglers, in more ways than you could imagined. This forum is only a small reflection of its success. I am very thankful for all those that have given their time and money over the past years to further the sport.

I'm referring to an Indiana paylake,
Like I said, a Yankee chit hole..
-
I don't sense much regret.
More like a big celebration!
And please inform us all of the name of this north carolina paylake.

There are plenty out there for now, but ask any catfish angler that regularly fishes the ohio river and they will tell you commercial fishing has nearly destroyed a once great fishery. Michigan anglers are starting to see a decrease in trophy carp coming out of Lake Erie due to heavy commercial fishing. With no bag limits or restrictions being enforced on carp and the high mortality rate of paylake fish resulting in a never ending demand for more stocking, it is inevitable that wild waters will suffer. Just read the nacas from when this club was in its infancy, fish over 40lb seemed a regular occurrence then, now we only see a handful a year. I'm not anti paylake, I learned how to catch carp at a paylake and still go a couple times a year but I would love to see carp care improve so annual stockings could be reduced and possibly stocking farm raised fish instead.
Here in North Carolina Carp Paylakes are placed under the department of agriculture, hence have a whole department at the UNC with biologests on call should a paylake have problems with their fish. They take specimens of carp and water when needed, at NO Charge. Just another little fact that Noon seem to know. The mith that paylake owners and attendants in North Carolina do not care about the carp is insane. I think the ain problem with all ya'll Yankees and Euro yankees is that your only experience is with the chit holes up north they call paylakes. I too think they should be closed but hey, they give ya'll something to harp on on a regular basis.
