  1. For the second year running it was truely a great Jr. Tournament!! Actually, this year' event probably topped last years for me personally...

As a parent of 8 and 13 year olds myself, It felt really good to be giving but I still feel I received more in return from the joy and energy of the smiling kids and parents upon a successful Carp capture and release...

    Yes Paul, absolute magic... :D:D

    Cheers,

    Wayne

  2. Wow! thanks Fellas,

We really did put a lot of effort into finding, testing and securing these hooks, of course nothing is ever going to be to everybody's taste but here you definitely have a couple of patterns (K-9 and K-9 Long shank) that do what they're supposed to do.

We've called these hooks the K-9 range, if your rig temps a Carp into making a mistake with one of these tied onto the business end, they lock down and rarely let go... :D

Apologies for the sales pitch here but we're extremely happy with our K-9's... :D

    Cheers,

    Wayne

  3. Hi Scott and all,

ACS has skimmmed off only the very best of the X2 gear and will be distributing it here in the US along with many other manufacturers' Carp tackle.

Again thanks for your patience, we're working balls out... :D

    Cheers,

    Dave, Sean & Wayne

  4. ACS Reply CAG vs. ACS – Is there room for both?

Hello all, we'd promissed ourselves not to use the CAG forum when it came to ACS business/dealings but please forgive this one intrution we just wanted to pitch in with a few words regarding this thread.

Having said that, our apologies for not responding sooner but we’ve all been up in Canada and New York on ACS business and have only recently returned.

Hopefully it will help clarify a few of the questions that are being asked regarding our objectives and hopefully will encourage a few more.

We understand that not everyone will want to see the popularity of this hobby/pastime/sport increase and there are those that, even as members of CAG, for personal reasons will not want to encourage others into the sport/pastime/hobby. This is a viewpoint that we respect, however one of our objectives, as well as that of the CAG, is to encourage others to participate in what we feel is a very rewarding pastime/hobby/sport/profession (There is room for all) and to promote the Carp for acceptance as a Sport-fish. Achieving this will automatically increase the popularity of the sport. We feel that this can bring about some positive results not only for the Trophy Size Carp but to many in other areas also.

The passion for Angling has given so much to us over the years that encouraging others into the sport is a natural move.

Regarding the CAG vs. ACS and the continued viability of both organizations: We are all CAG members and have no reason to believe that we will not continue to be so.

ACS is, and will continue to be, a huge advocate of the CAG…there’s absolutely no reason for any Angler that fishes for Carp in the USA not to be. We see both organizations working together on a continued basis to promote the great sport of Carp Angling within the USA and see no conflict between the two. Both organizations offer tremendous benefits to those that wish to join and we will continue to encourage people to join both!

The CAG has done a tremendous service to the sport/pastime of Carp fishing here in the United States and its growth and recognition throughout the world is testament to the countless hours of hard word that have been put in by all the volunteers over the years, from the inception to the present day. Don’t forget that’s exactly what they are - volunteers, all the people that have dedicated countless hours to CAG over the years have dedicated a part of their life to promote the sport and encourage and help others. All the guys that put the NACA together and the membership packages, monitor the forums, organize events etc. It’s all very positive for Carp Angling in the USA and it’s all done for the love of the Cyprinus Carpio.

The CAG will continue to prosper with new people stepping up to the plate and helping and encouraging others….which for us, is what the CAG has always stood for.

If it wasn’t for the CAG, The American Carp Society would probably never have gotten off the ground (and as you all know…achieving this is a gargantuan task that we are still a few weeks away from ;-). After all it was the CAG that brought us (David, Wayne and Sean) together. It was the CAG that introduced us to so many wonderful people all over the USA and Canada that have opened up their homes to us at various CAG fish-inns and events. It has afforded us the opportunity to form what we hope will be lifelong friendships with some of its members and for this we will always be grateful.

ACS is and will continue to be a very broad based organization. It is unlikely that we will specialize in any one aspect. We are a diverse group of Scooby Doos ;-).

We will not only offer our own tackle but that of many of the worlds leading tackle companies. We will also offer the chance for people to enter world class Competitions if they so wish. We hope to offer as much information as possible to those that have an interest in every aspect of Carp Angling within the USA or the fish as a species and will take a very active role in the protection of the Trophy sized fish. This is not about bringing any values or judgements upon those that do not feel the same way but rather one of protecting the Trophy size fish, that can take years to attain such sizes, to be enjoyed by everyone.

We have and will continue to work with any charity-based organizations regarding children and fishing and do all that we can to promote and encourage youngsters to fish for Carp.

These goals involve a tremendous amount of work, research and time involvement, some of which will be made public quite soon, but suffice to say it is a great deal of work for 3 guys who are dedicating their life to it, yet are still having to earn a living and be a functional part of their respective families. We have each put up a small fortune and risked much in the belief of the following statement in regards to US Carp Angling...

“If you build it correctly, they will come.” Fingers are crossed... :D:D

And here again we wish to say a HUGE thank you to all that have “risked” their hard earned cash to join an organisation with out a proven track record. We feel very “warm and fuzzy” :D about this as it means you have trust in us personally as people. This means a lot to us... Cheers!!! :D

We are trying our best to hit our deadlines and are eternally grateful for those of you that have showed your encouragement and support to us in our inaugural year through the usual speed-bumps. Believe us, you will not be forgotten and your faith in us will be rewarded. Many of the benefits that we are working towards for our members will take a little time to achieve and so your faith, patience and encouragement is much appreciated. We view the American Carp Society as a long-term commitment from us all as Directors and to ensure the success of our long-term goals its taking slightly longer than we originally anticipated to set up the foundations for a lasting and meaningful organization.

Because of that workload, and many positive opportunities that have presented themselves over the past 6 months that we were not yet expecting, we have had to delay the opening of the web-site from our original set goal. This will not effect our members as their membership will not officially start until the launch of the web-site, therefore they will be at no loss regarding time etc.

ACS has consciously chosen not to hold ‘fish-Inns’, which is the heart of the CAG, we will host competitions for those that want to compete on a professional level so there will be no conflict there… You’ll will see us participating in many of the CAG fish inn’s though!

ACS doesn’t have a public forum for debate, we are a privately owned Company with 3 officers and run our business accordingly. We will be venturing into many aspects of Carp Angling within the USA and overseas and hope to continue to put together many opportunities for our members.

For clarification purposes we are not a ‘Euro Style’ only organization! We actually have only one ‘European’ member. Everyone else is American. ;-) We have members that are fly fisherman, members that are proud to use traditional American methods and yes the "Euro-method" crowd that fish for Carp, we have some complete beginners and some very experienced Anglers. We will continue to encourage a very diverse membership, no-one should feel "left out" or ignored.

In regards to the ACS membership packages. The items sent out are only part of what is to be received by the members (This has been explained in various membership letters) and are certainly not the sole reason why someone should consider joining ACS. For the record, after all expenses we clear just short of $6.00 on each $45.00 membership and 100% of that is plowed back into the company...

We will have a variety of T-shirts available on the web-site for purchase, however the T shirts that are sent in the membership packages cannot be purchased anywhere and have been designed specifically for the purpose of identifying members while holding fish in a photograph for the members competitions…by the way, Congrats to ACS member Tommy Robinson winner of $500 for the 2004 Jan – June Big Fish Award. (Tommy, we’ll be in touch regarding the monies for the end of the month).

The container with the bulk of our tackle was finally released over the weekend (June 12th & 13th 2004) by the US Customs guys and during the next couple of weeks we’ll be photographing, writing descriptions and plugging it all into the ACS e-store and website. The 10% tackle discount for members will be a “true” discount and not just a “rigged” figure plucked from the sky.

We will strive to bring our members the very best in all aspects of the services that we offer, however we are human and there are three of us currently doing the work of eight :D so we encourage any member (or Carp Angler who is considering becoming a member) to contact us directly with any questions or concerns in regards to ACS.

We believe there are great things ahead for both ACS and the CAG.

Hope this explains our situation a little. Thanks for all your support !

    Cheers,

    Dave Sean & Wayne

    ps

Whilst on our travels we managed to pop into NY State to meet with a few folks. We are extremely happy to announce that after a great deal of work ACS will be bringing for the first time in History, The World Carp Championship to the USA on the St. Lawrence River in 2005. This on its own will bring a huge amount of exposure to our sport here in the US. Details to follow……

  5. This is one I just found that made me laugh...

I'd just pressed the button on the camera and the timer was beeping away as I ran round splashing and panicking through the water to my position between Sean & Dave... Cheese! But two of the three Carp had other ideas... Dave's got things well under control... :D:D:D

    Cheers,

    Wayne

ps Keith and Miguel, I still mean to forward the Grassy video just been pretty busy, thanks for the patience...

  6. Paul has always gone beyond what may reasonably be expected in the line of great service when ever I've purchased items from Wacker Baits.

I would never hesitate to recomend Paul and staff to anyone interested in purchasing good Carp kit along with an aftersales service that is second to none!!

    Thanks Paul!!!

    Cheers,

    Wayne

  7. Hi Jerome,

Glad you liked the stills :D

I had the Grassy wrestling movie up for a while last fall, some could view it, others couldn't. Some got it and laughed others took it way too seriously and called the Carp police... :D <_< :D

If you or anybody out there has anywhere to put it up for folks to view then contact me, I'd be very happy email you a copy, it really is funny... Its a 4meg file or there abouts...

Just need a little clarification paragraph below the link explaining that there is NO actual Grass Carp wrestling competitions here in the United States, its a fictional sport and this video was shot and edited for educational purposes only... :D:D:D :D :D

    Cheers,

    Wayne
