  1. Hi guys,

Just wanted to share a few pictures with you all, no lengthy discussion.

Hopefully these few pictures convey what this great sport of ours is all about.... It was a great afternoon for this proud father!!!

This first picture.. "Steph's In" with a helping hand from Uncle "Hollywood."

    Cheers,

    Soniq

  2. Karl,

I always watch and learn mate. The image of you and Dave hammering those Elsinor Carpettes has been permanently etched into my brain. :D Having a few problems finding one of those 14 metre carbon poles you were hanging off on Elsinor though.

Thanks for the kind words. Hope we can get together again soon. Have you been to Elsinor since? Do you know when they're going to net it again? I want to be there with a Digital Video camera!!!!!

Are you going up to Clear Lake at the end of June?

    Cheers,

    Soniq

  3. Phone & Dragon Carp,

I am married with kids, So I should be fine..... right?.......

Although, thinking about it, I do hear my self every now and again telling Rachel (my dearest wife unit), "Oh that!.... errrrr..... Ohhhh yeah....errrr.. its ages old, you remember, we bought that on our trip to wayneboonsville back in '99.... yep! maybe you just haven't noticed it 'cos you haven't had the time recently to go with me on an overnighter....

I just know she'll call my bluff one of these days and I'll end up getting some bivy company.... Wait a minute....ummmm... maybe that's not all bad.... :D:D

Also, I found my self clearing the garage out so I can actually find items (fishing stuff, not gardening or decorating stuff!), not an easy feat, as its been piled high to the ceiling since we moved to this house nearly four years ago. Also setting up a boilie making station in there with "Hollywood................" Oh my god!!!! you fellas could be right!!!

Are these T.T. symptoms? Is this bad? tell me doc! I can handle the truth....... just don't tell my wife and kids, they're just not ready for this kind of news yet! :D

    Cheers,

    Soniq

  4. Hey!

I'm not a tackle tart.... am I?...... not next to most of you lot anyways... tell me I'm not....... guys?.....guys?.......... Hello?

Back to the 396LB haul last Weds/Thurs, I'm still amazed when I see that poundage figure, I'm sure many of you out there have experienced the adrenaline rush a haul like this produces, Wow! it was a first for me.... A total of 22 fish in 22 hours and the official count includes:

2 low 30's, 7 mid 20's, 7 mid doubles, 5 singles and that lovely looking 8lb Mirror, a US first for me.... Thanks to Hollywood for all the help Thursday morning!!

I'll find time to write something about the session over the next few weeks, if only to prolong and preserve the memory for me.

    Cheers,

    soniq

  5. Hey Guys,

Its 10:45pm Thursday night here and I'm soooooo ready for bed, I got a couple of hours last night and a hour this afternoon. I am actually bruised! and can't lift my right arm above my head, bicep/shoulder really hurts. Will have fun brushing my teeth tonight :D

The official "poundage" count is 396LB 11oz on the scales in 22hours!!!!!! Oh My God!!! I can't believe it.....

I have NEVER, EVER experienced anything like it! At times the water was alive, kind of like a Tuna Boil. (Full Moon Keith! :D ) Absolutely unbelievable....

I've always laughed at folks that say they pulled their lines in during the night to get some sleep.... Guess what I did between 3 and 5 am last night.... zzzzzzzzzzzzz......

I emailed Sean last night (texted via cell phone) to tell him I was into a session that was VERY special and he was around this morning like a shot (its a 1.5 hour drive from his place) with a Mickey D's breakfast 'n Coffee to check it out, cheers mate. Will have more photos over the next few days. I kept very good notes.... weights, baits, terrain, temps, chronological order and put most of the "daylight" catch on DV tape...etc. etc.

Thanks for the kind words... Must sleep now :D

    Cheers,

    Soniq

  6. Hello and thanks to all for the cool comments,

Seven days later and still buzzing on a very high note!!!!! :D:D:D:D

Feeling good about a 40 plus this year even if it turns out to be blind and senile too :D, going to be putting in some serious hours bankside with my rig challenged mate Hollywood....

Sean, how are those tractor parts working out mate? Maybe you could use the tail pipe as a big old throwing stick, the spark plugs for weights, the hydraulic tubing for lead core, couple of jubilee clips for a feeder and the acceleraror cable return spring for the hook... there you go my son, I've sorted your rig trials and tribulations!!! Now even you can catch one of those really nice blind and senile PB Crown producing Carp!!! :D:D

    Cheers,

    Soniq

  7. Thanks guys, I'm still buzzing 4 days later!!! :D

Scott, thanks mate, keep stirring the pot :D Wait 'til Snotty finds this thread... :D

Dean, 4 pieces of Maize on the hair dipped in thick Brown treacle Molasses and hanging off a fox method feeder with Birdseed/breadcrumb mix finally did the trick.... The fish was looking down at Hollywood who was on the floor in shock!! The Hollywood/Soniq PB crown was again mine :D:D:D Yessssssssss!!!!!

It was a fun day with lots of Laughs but a tough one on the fish front, we only had two fish out all day (an 8 or 9 lber and the one pictured at 33lb 6oz) and not too many more knocks and beeps.

    Cheers,

  8. Hello Dean, Sean and Keith,

I'm busy being the tour guide for the outlaws (Inlaws :D ) from the 15th April thru about the 6th May...

I finish a UCLA Orchestrating course on the 25th March and so I'm game for a trip sometime during the first two weeks of April... I'll do a bunch of trips!! Havasu, Mead, Colorado river all sound good to me. I've seen some lovely Carp around the ferry docks in Laughin, Nevada!! Of course, I didn't have any kit with me at the time :D

Keith, looks like I'll be up with you for the 22nd April, can we do a FULL day on Fremont? Not sure of the exact details yet but if I got to your place the evening b4 and got picked up some time the morning of the 23rd to travel south would that work for you?

I'll bring your brolly up wiv me. Have you room at your pad for me to bed down?

Sean, I'll give you a bell tomorrow, had a really great day today at the Fred Hall show in Long Beach.....

    Cheers,

    Soniq

  9. Newt,

the traffic is just something you learn to deal with, don't know about staying sane through it all though!!! I got caught in a parking lot situation on the 60 freeway last weekend on the way to the CA fishin on lake Perris. Keith and Sean were already on the bank with baits wet... Grrrr... Infact, Sean called me while I was "parked" on the freeway on-route to say he'd upped his PB to 32lb 10oz Ahhhgggg!! :D:D I just know that fish passed through my swim to get to his!!! :D

Don't know about east coast fishing this year, if it happens, it'll be a spur of the moment thing just because we still have so much to explore out here in the South West. Would like to get out to Austin to see Brian this year, although it won't be in March.

Carphead, we will definately be coming up to Clear lake at the end of June... proud to be called a fellow CA crazy Carper.... :D

Thanks again Scott for your kind words, snotty is smiling again!! :D

Also a big thanks to Keith for sharing so much of your experience last weekend, I learnt a lot.... Cheers!

  10. Hi Guys & Gals!

Wayne "Soniq" Boon here, and proud to be so!! more on the "Soniq" thing in a few lines......

I live in Los Angeles, so I have to be a "Totally Politically Correct dooood!" :D

Originally from the UK, moved here to Southern California back in 1988 with my wife, Rachel and Sean "Hollywood" Manning, nothing kinky I promise :D... just great mates! We went to music college together in Hollywood, California and studied our butts off learning how to professionally play Guitar/Keyboards, arrange/orchestrate and to compose music for TV and Film.

My wife, Rachel (non fisher lady but there's always hope) is a Charge Nurse on an OB unit (delivers Babies) at a busy down town L.A. hospital. We have two kids, both born at the hospital Rachel works at... Stephanie aged 11 and David aged 6 (both fisher kids).

I've been fishing for Carp since the age of 11, I've just turned 40 :D Gulp!! Didn't get chance to do much fishing at all during the last 10 years as it was all work, work and more work!! :D I write music for TV and have have scored/written music for the animated series Jumanji, Godzilla, Roughnecks... The Sharship Trooper Chronicles, Heavy Gear and over 150 other TV shows...(Hence the "Soniq" tag). This kind of work isn't an 8 'til 5 kind of thing... rather, pretty much round the clock, grabbing sleep as and when you can, actually, kind of like it is when you're on a lengthy Carping session... but for 9/10 months of the year!!!....

Last August, (2002) something just snapped (damn this schedule, life's too short kind of vibe) and to cut a long boring story short, Sean and myself got the "Carp bug" back in a VERY BIG way... like its so bad, (good really!) that its all I think about 24 hours a day... I can say 24 hours a day 'cos 99% of my dreaming time is also consumed by Carp and methods of catching them. We've got the bug real bad Mahn!!!!

Plan on getting to as many of the "fishins" as possible during the next few years and meeting all of you!!

I'm totally committed to the 4 main goals of the CAG, this group is the start of something huge and I intend to ride the wave out to its conclusion. Good luck and tight lines to all concerned.

    Cheers,

    Wayne "Soniq" Boon
