  7. It's a grey, wet, and windy morning out there as the sun peeks over the horizon debating whether it should get up or go back to to bed. I love this kind of weather, so I am celebrating by putting NWC's top selling bait- CUKK sweet corn- on sale this week at a ridiculous price. Heck, same with the CUKK tiger nuts (pity the poor tigers...) For more info on our full range of CUKK baits, including the 40% off sweet corn sale (and Bomb-A at 50% off), simply click the link: CUKK Corn 40% Off
  8. New World Carp's best selling rod, the Perseus Tele Carp, is now on sale. We've taken 30% off its regular retail price. 10. The carp that broke my whackingly expensive and not very well made custom float rod on Friday weighed all of 10 pounds. Such is life. Saturday I decided to take the Middy Mi3 Splash 'Em Baggin' Waggler out for a test drive. As you know, I don't usually write personal reviews about NWC's gear. I like to let the tackle and baits speak for themselves and our customers speak their minds. But when I do give an opinion it's an honest one and not just a sales pitch. (For example, if you're looking for a budget reel get the Jaxon, not the Okuma.). A guy stopped by as I was setting up. He was very enthusiastic about carp. Said he really wanted to meet that carper he was always hearing about- Stephen from New World Carp. 'Everywhere I go guys are always telling me about him', he said. 'Guy who's usually falling in the water when he's not tripping over his tackle? World's clumsiest angler? Carp obsessed freshwater Captain Ahab character?' I asked. Yeah, that's the one, he agreed. 'I'm him', I admitted. He hid his disappointment. 'Hang around for a bit. I'll likely fall in and catch some decent carp. The rocks are slippery and the bite's been good.' So, he hung around. Good company and good convo. His name is Norm. Within fifteen minutes of my first cast I was into a fish. After a few minutes I started steering her towards the net. As she came closer Norm pegged her at around 30lb. I thought less- maybe mid 20s. He fine tuned his guess to 32lb as she kissed the net. Norm is a fine judge of weight- she scaled at 32lb 4oz. Right from setting the hook to guiding the carp into the net, that rod was in control. The fish was played with ease and grace (all credit to the rod since ease and grace aren't words usually associated with my style.) In the space of two hours I had 6 fish on that rod and landed every one. I was exceptionally pleased and a bit surprised at what this rod could do- handling carp from the low teens up to the 20s and 30s brilliantly. It has now become my main float rod. One feature of the Mi3 that I really like is that it doesn't have the very small guides normally found on UK and European float rods. Around here guides can ice up in cold weather so the larger ones on this rod are a definite advantage. Personally, I think that this rod is a fantastic bargain. I love float fishing for carp and I have spent a lot more on rods that delivered a lot less. For more details on the Mi3, simply click here: Middy Mi3 Splash 'Em Baggin Waggler Oh, and NWC's best selling Jaxon Eternum 3.5lb carp rods are on sale at a silly price right now: Jaxon Eternum 3.5lb rods Thanks very much for taking the time to read this. 14. I hope that the season is starting off hot and happy for you all. Here in beautiful Hamilton-on-the-Lake Spring has been slow coming on and Summer is a distant glimmer on the far, far horizon. Whilst I, and many happy others, were slamming the carp in March and April last year, in 2011 water temps are still low, skies are wet and cloudy, and windy rain is today's special every day. Looking out the window right now what I am seeing is more March or November than mid-May. Oh well, the days can only get better... At least I have had lots of time to tackle up the Carp Cave. Over 50 new products have been added in recent weeks with lots more to come throughout the season (including Korum and Preston Innovations arriving soon). CUKK's new Tiger Nuts are already a best seller. Check them out, along with our new CUKK mussel groundbait, new flavours of CUKK sweetcorn, and old CUKK favourites here: CUKK baits Jaxon's bolo rods have become a surprise best seller over the past couple of years. We have added the Eternum Winner 6 metre to our line-up. And we have just received new high-attract Jaxon hookbait boilies at a great price- they come in convenient tubs that pack easily into your tackle bag and are an affordable alternative to pricey kilo bags of boilies. To see our full selection of Jaxon baits and tackle, including our best selling Tele Carp rods and the latest arrivals, simply click here: Jaxon gear and baits Our Mistral Rosehip Isotonic boilies are giving the carp- grass and common- a wee pasting down in Texas according to reports from August and others down there. 15. We're all counting down the days until the carp season starts. Here at the Carp Cave we've been doing some renos and making room for the new tackle and baits arriving for the 2011 season. This week a new shipment of reels from Daiwa arrived. The popular Emblem Spod reel is back in stock, and we've added the Basia QDX- a heck of a fine reel for only $630 with free shipping included. Also this week a load of goodies from Jaxon arrived at NWC. Check out their new line of affordable alarms ranging from $9.99 to $34.99, including the very cool Pro Carp 7 Camo alarm. The Carp Smart 7, at ten bucks, is a basic beeper perfect for the beginner or casual carper. At the other end, the oddly named Profi- 1 offers all of the bells and whistles you could want for only $35. It's soft touch case contains more features than you'd expect for the money. For over two years we've been trying to stock Jaxon's Metal Safe net and we finally suceeded! Available in either a 2.6m or 3m model, this net features a rubberised mesh basket, telescopic handle, and arms that fold down along the handle- a bear paw style net. The metal block that locks the arms in place is much more reliable than a plastic one and the mesh is sturdy and fish-friendly (spouse-friendly too as it helps to reduce odours). This is a top notch net that is perfect for carp or general sport fishing and is priced to sell, starting at $39.99. To find out more about these items and the rest of our recent new arrivals, simply click here: New Arrivals Over the next few weeks we are expecting new stock from ProLogic, Daiwa, and some great new baits and old favourites from our friends at CUKK. Watch out for the new CUKK tigernuts and some great groundbaits available from NWC on April 4. We are also expecting baits from Mistral in the next couple of weeks. And NWC is adding selected tackle and accessories from Korum and Preston Innovations this season. Don't forget New World Carp's spring Open House. Mark April 9 on your calendar. We'll be sending out more details in a week or two. But, of course, you can expect a great selection of tackle and baits, good company with fellow carpers, and some great in-Cave specials. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Tight Lines Stephen
  16. The newest improvement on Daiwa's classic Regal BR reel, the Regal Z just became available last week and New World Carp is one of the first stockists in the world. Our introductory price of $89.99 compares very favourably with the SRP of £69.99, although the reviewers, both carp and salt water, all suggest that even at full price this reel is a bargain not to be missed. -line capacity 190m/15lb -Daiwa's rock solid and reliable front drag -one touch quick folding handle -spare aluminium spool -only 16.9 oz An excellent choice for the carper who wants a top quality reel at a great price, the Regal Z BR is sturdy enough to handle those 200 pound sessions that aren't uncommon in Canada and the U.S. The micro adjustable front drag and super smooth Free Spool BR clutch system are complemented by the AirBail tubular stainless steel bail arm to offer more positive line pickups and fewer line snags. In addition, the new Regal Z adds improvements to this tried and tested classic, including a comfortable soft grip handle and TiN coated big line roller. -essential BR feature -six ball bearings -4.9:1 gear ratio The Regal is the perfect reel for carpers in Canada and the U.S. Offering a reliable drag, the essential BR feature, and proven reliability fish after fish, this is a reel capable of handling the demands of New World carping. New World Carp is just starting to get in the first shipments of new stock for 2011, when many more to follow throughout the season. 17. New World Carp has just received a shipment from Jaxon including the popular bolo and telescopic rods that sell out quickly. Honestly, these are great tackle at fair prices and we do have a hard time keeping them in stock. In January we'll be stocking the brilliant seatboxes from Octoplus and we'll have new gear from Preston Innovations and Korum. As you know, NWC makes customer satisfaction our priority and we offer the best personalised service- we don't try to sell you anything, we work to ensure that you get what you want and need. Our special order service is well known and well respected- we get you what you want and we charge UK prices. Recent special orders included ProLogic buzzer bars, Daiwa reels, Gardner net handles, and ATT alarms. NWC's selection of baits have a proven track record. Both matchmen and big carp hunters know that Monster Maize and CUKK baits deliver the results. And our recent addition of Mistral Baits has also been landing fish. If you haven't ordered from New World Carp please take a moment to ask about us, either here on the CAG forum or at the CFC forum. Get the straight dope from our customers before you decide to to business with us. I have to fish with the guys I sell to so I try to keep them happy. I hope that I can keep you happy as well with NWC's selection, service, and prices.
  18. New World Carp's recent open house was a lot of fun. It was great to see many familiar faces. And it was also a pleasure to meet carpers I've only dealt with through the NWC site. Thanks to all of you for making it a perfect day of tackle talk, friendship, and fun. One of the many things that I love about carp fishing is the fact that there are so many ways to try to catch them. This was certainly shown at the open house. Of course, there were a lot of anglers there who put out a bolt rig or method ball and park their rod on a pod. And so there should be- this is an effective and, at least here in the New World, a wonderfully sociable way to catch carp. But there were also a lot of anglers who enjoy the delicacy and finesse of float fishing and share in that indescribable pleasure of seeing your float make that magic move as a carp takes the bait. And I was gratefully surprised by the number of carpers who spend at least part of the season chasing carp on the fly. The conversation at our open house certainly reflected the many ways you can enjoy yourself chasing carp. Of course, a fair bit of tackle was sold as well. Some of the most popular sale items were the Jaxon carp rods, Pro-Logic bags, and Ron Thompson nets. We have a few left over and they're available at special prices for those of you who couldn't make it. Just click here: Specials Yes, these and the other sale items were popular, but our NWC rod pods, Jaxon Amado reels, and 30PLUS Robo Chairs also were best sellers. Even at their regular prices these are a great value and reflect NWC's commitment to providing useful and reliable gear at fair prices. Although the season is winding down here, NWC continues to add new products. Our Mistral Pop Ups and Pole Pellets have been getting some impressive results over the past month. You can find out more about them and our other new items here: New Gear This weekend is the annual Can/Am Match hosted by Match Fishing Canada. Dalibor, a recent convert to carping, has been fishing the venue with his Dad and they're putting their new Daiwa reels to good use: Thanks for taking the time to read this. Tight Lines Stephen
  19. Our popular Vizor bivvies are back in stock at a great price and with free shipping to the U.S. and Canada. With its unique cross-ventilation system the Vizor is perfect for North American carp fishing- they can handle the worst rainy weather but also are comfortable when you need protection from black flies, mosquitoes, and other bugs on hot summer nights. For more details on New World Carp's selection of Vizor bivvies and Vizor Extreme Canopy overwraps simply click here: Chub Vizor Bivvies Money saving tip: On October 1 Chub announced new higher prices for the North American market. New World Carp's current stock of Vizor bivvies is being sold at UK prices, not the new 'special price' for the U.S. and Canada. Once these are gone, though, we'll be forced to buy from Chub at the new North American prices so if you want the perfect bivvy for North American carping at a fair price and with free shipping, now's the time to buy. (Whilst we currently sell the Vizor one-man for $399, Chub's new SRP is $659.99...) Thanks for taking the time to read this. Tight Lines Stephen
  20. It's been a busy summer at New World Carp, but we've found the time to add almost 50 new items with more to come in the next few weeks. Our new selection of top end Jaxon rods arrived last month and has proven to be very popular. The XT-Pro models offer excellent quality at a fair price. And the slim and light, but very strong Perseus Tele Carp rod is already a best selling favourite- Beans even landed a muskie on his first time out with one. That and a new PB carp. And both on Pineapple Monster Maize. Now that's a story. Click here for the details: Beans goes fishing Following on the popular introduction of the 30PLUS Robo Chair, NWC has added Middy's StarGrip 360 System to our collection. Not surprisingly, this versatile and useful range of products has been a big hit as it has virtually everything you could want to customise your chair or seatbox. Given the extreme heat that we've been enduring throughout the summer the Mission Brollies that just arrived from Daiwa will likely be popular. This is a light but sturdy brolly, 50" across, that combines Daiwa's famed quality and a decent price. You can check out these items and all of the recent arrivals by simply clicking here: New Arrivals NWC restocked our best selling Polaris Snack Pack recently. If you haven't tried these innovative and easy-to-use floats or you're already a fan, the Snack Pack is a great way to stock up at a bargain price. 21. It's been a busy month or so at New World Carp. Our new line of baits from CUKK (formerly sold as Big Bob's) has been disappearing off the shelves. At the recent MFC match 1st, 2nd, and Big Fish were all won by anglers using CUKK baits. The new Bomb-A groundbait bomb and the good old reliable flavoured sweetcorn (particularly mussel and honey) have been making anglers very happy, especially at NWC's low price of $4.74 a jar for the sweetcorn. (Buy a dozen and get free shipping.) Tip: The Kaya groundbait is a perfect match for CUKK honey flavoured sweetcorn and has been producing very well for me and for other anglers. It isn't a best seller but those who try it come back for more- just like our Cranberry Monster Maize. For more info about our full line of CUKK baits, simply click here: CUKK baits Speaking of Monster Maize, congrats to Ken Keene at The Online Keepsack. He recently landed a new PB mirror on this great bait. This was during the extensive field testing that TOKS did with Monster Maize. The result wasn't just Ken's PB- the TOKS team was very impressed with our giant corn for giant carp. During a month of testing 'Cranberry was really hauling the fish in on multiple sessions'. The fair and balanced review can be seen here (p. 36-39): TOKS Insider Tip: You get a large 10oz tub of Monster Maize for only six bucks. Give it a refreshing boost of Monster Mist bait spray for added attraction. The long awaited Robo Chair from 30PLUS has finally arrived and it was well worth that wait. I'm very pleased with mine. More importantly, NWC's customers are pleased with theirs. Robert from Chicago writes: I got the Robo Chair today. It's great. He then rang me up to personally give a glowing review of the chair. I shoiuld have taped it... At only 4.9kg this is an extremely light chair, but it's very stable and incredibly versatile. Strange but true: At the recent MFC match 1st, 2nd, and Big Fish were all won by anglers sitting in Robo Chairs. Coincidence? I think so. Not so lightweight, but very comfy are NWC's new Daiwa bedchairs. Check out the Infinity Big Bedchair for the ultimate in pampered luxury. Also check out our new prices on Daiwa luggage, Chub tackle, and many other items. Thanks to recent drops in the exchange rate NWC is paying less for our tackle from leading U.K. suppliers. We're passing the savings on to you. Our new ProLogic terminal tackle is proving to be popular. It looks great hanging off the end of a Ron Thompson Equaliser pod- the stable and lightweight goalpost style pod at a great price. New World Carp continues to expand our selection of match and pole fishing tackle. We likely offer the best selection and prices in North America. One of this month's highlights is the arrival of the Middy Hot Spot V2 Margin Pole at less than $160. A decent pole at a great price. We've added more new stock from Gardner, Middy, Daiwa and other leading U.K. brands (as well as topping up old favourites and best sellers). I could blather on about all the fantastic new gear we have, but I'd rather go fishing instead of boring you. So to see almost 40 new products recently added (and take a browse through over 300 items for carp, match, and float fishing whilst you're there), simply click here: New Products Thanks very much for taking the time to read this. 22. Thanks, Zoomie. Let me know how you make out and what you think of the MM- good, bad, or indifferent. Any feedback is always appreciated and it's great to hear about what carpers are doing in other parts of the continent. There's no such thing as a miracle bait, of course, but in my experience, and from what I hear from a lot of anglers, it does the trick more often than not.
  23. A generous 10oz tub for only $5.99 Monster Maize- giant corn for giant carp! New World Carp's best selling bait, Monster Maize has landed more than one personal best and has caught carp across North America. Monster Maize combines proven carp catching flavours with specially imported giant corn to create an irresistible bait. -eye-candy yellow -shelf life -natural flavours and attractants -long lasting -handy resealable tub Monster Maize is hand made in small batches from 100% human food grade ingredients, using a unique preparation process. The result is giant carp-calling kernels that are firm and flavourful, not mushy and watery. Monster Maize casts easily without falling off and resists the attentions of nuisance fish. The natural pulling power of our giant corn is combined with some classic and innovative flavours, all topped off with that yellow colour that carp can't resist. Each flavour is actually a complex blend of natural flavours, and proven palatants, attractants, and other yummies are also added. Monster Maize gets great reviews from carp anglers, including on the CAG forum. Most importantly, it gets results- a proven track record of big carp and PBs from the St Lawrence to California and from Toronto to Texas. For more details about Monster Maize, including our latest reported PB, simply click here: Monster Maize Thanks for taking the time to read this, and Tight Lines in 2010! Stephen
  24. New World Carp has added about 70 new items during the month of March, with more to come throughout 2010. Our 30Plus carp tackle continues to be popular- a great combination of quality and price. We've just restocked as well adding some new for 2010 gear from 30Plus. Also in during the past week: Chub carp tackle and luggage. Thanks to Matt -our Chub rep- for your excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable service. Our recent order of match gear from Daiwa has been very popular, and NWC continues to add to our match tackle. The popular Middy Battle Zone V2 pole, which has sold out quickly in the past, is now back in stock. Our latest Middy arrivals also include the new for 2010 Shotz -an improvement on styl shot, cupping kits, and a selection of pole rollers.
