So any of you boys fish the 1st day??? if yes how'd yall do??
Didn't fish the first day but am fishing the second day! I know you were supposed to get out, how'd it go?
-
Incredible session! you had me there with the "30 fish over 20 #'s" until I saw the correction.
Still that's better than I've caught EVER in my state. Utah just doesn't have the bodies of water like that. There are some 20's and maybe 30's but few and far between. that or no one is sharing intel.
Thanks! Ya must have accidentally hit zero for some reason, I'm glad one of my friends told me what I did lol!
Good luck with your fishing hope you find a venue that produces some goo fish for ya!

That is awesome, good luck with it!

Adam, what competition?
Micheal Jackson and his darn popcorn, I've been sitting here for days watching him eat yet he never runs out or gets full??

Nice little goldies. You mentioned "they" killed all the carp and they stocked it with goldfish. Im curious... who is they?? Is it a private pond? The state? The town? And do you know why they would stock goldies??
Sorry I should have made that more clear, when i say they i am talking about the city that owns the pond. Its a public pond in the city next door to the city i live in. I have no idea why they would stock the goldfish.

Killed the carp and stocked with goldfish? Just wait till the goldfish grow. Fun on a fly rod. Shows that government intelligence is really an oxymoron.
lol so true! Ya these guys will be a blast when they get a bit bigger

I thought I would share this as I forgot to share it on the forums, some of my Facebook friends may have seen this already.
Back in early October I took a look at a local pond by my house that used to be loaded with small carp until they killed all of them this year, I just wanted to see what the place was like now. I got down to the water and took a walk around and to my surprise I saw goldfish everywhere! I was totally shocked as they killed all the carp and then stocked it with goldfish? Well long story short the next day I brought a small light action rod out to the pond and some sweet corn to see if I could catch any of these little gems and sure enough I did, and lots of them! It was hard keeping these little guys off the line!
I was just free lining single grains of corn to them on a size 8 hook. It was a blast catching a bunch of these little colorful guys. After I had a good few to myself I called Brian and Brendan out and they joined the fun for a little bit. We allied stayed for a few hours and had a blast catching a bunch of these guys.
Here are a few pics of them:

Jerome told me he is going to kick your butts........but I'm not sure if that is just wishful thinking on his part?
As for me.........I'm going to see if I can find a feeding carp of any sort in November.......and worry about the size later!
Iain
Maybe just wishful thinking as you said
I think I'm going to be more in your boat Iain lol, its been cold up here in Michigan!
-
Nice looking fish!

Will the Michigan boys destroy the competition?
Will paylakers finally join the fun?
Will puffs take first place?
Adam, what competition?
-
Thanks Austin. The weather forecast doesn't look too good for the weekend.
Not at all but i will probably end up going any way just to squeeze in as much fishing as possible before we hit the winter.

Very nice Brian, congrats on the new PB well deserved! I was thinking about getting down there before work saturday but its supposed to be in the 20's in the morning and 30's for a high I'm not so sure lol!
-
Omg In my post I meant to put I had 3 20's not 30! Please any one who thought I meabt 30 ignore that!

I blanked again... not sure where the carp are now!

Winter carp success in MI!

I've been pretty inactive on the forum this past winter as I usually am every winter, but I thought I'd share some picture from my last session out. I've never fished for carp in February here in Michigan but since it was around 40 degrees this past Sunday I decided to get out and try to catch a carp or two.
When I showed up to the spot I wasn't to confident I'd catch because of the huge ice piles that had built up from the wind blowing in ice chunks off the main lake, but Kyle and I decided to fish anyway. We had to set up our rods on top of all the ice because the shoreline was non existent anymore. Any way I did end up catching 5 fish up to 21lbs which I was extremely happy to just be catching some fish as spring is still some time away up here. So here are the pictures, I though the ice and stuff made for some cool photos!
The rods on top of all the ice!
First fish!
Biggest if the session at 21lb 8oz!
