It was awesome to stop out and chat with you guys while on a work break only to witness within minutes of visiting you guys my special mirror I had out 4 years ago now caught by Austin, I said wait a minute, he looks rather familiar..ha ha...was very cool. I kept thinking if I would have left a minute or two earlier, I would have missed that. Again one of the truly unique aspects of catch and release within our sport.

Oh and Brendan, tell us again about your epic struggle with that mega beast of a 12 lber

Had a great time hanging out on the bank as usual with you Andy, and your right truly incredible that you were there to witness your own fish caught again! Very cool to see, you were just about to head out until that fish took off on an insanely hard run lol.

Brendans arms are still a bit sore, he says he may need a couple year break from carp fishing lol

Brendan and I got out on Memorial Day for a session at water that used to be know to produce quite a few mirrors a long time ago here in michigan, including our cag state record mirror at 31lb. It stopped getting fished a long time ago because the group thought there was a die off after the fishing became extremely difficult compared to previous years..

Well Brendan and I were looking through some old catch reports from 2008 to 2010 and we wanted to give the water a try as the mirrors that came out of here were some of the most stunning fish we have seen in michigan. Plus it had been years since it was fished last so we wanted to see what it would produce.

We showed up at about 630 and could see why the group loved fishing here so much, it is an absolutely gorgeous venue that's not very big. We saw a few fish crash at a few different spots and decided to spread the rods out. As we were setting up we saw quite a few larger carp spawning about 30 yards out, and thought it might not be the best fishing right now.

After we got rods out it did not take long until Brendan hooked his first fish from this venue, losing to weeds unfortuantly. Soon after he casts that rod back out it goes off again! He hen gets a beautiful dark common at a little over 19lbs. We were ecstatic to have been here an hour and to have hooked two fish. Soon after my rod right next to that spot goes off and I land a small post spawn male.

We continued to have steady action throughout the day having 15 out of 19 fish, with 3 mirrors and one lost mirror at the net. Which is about 1 in 5 fish being mirrors. Brendan also landed a very special mirror at 20lb 8oz which was an absolute stunner! I also had 2 mirrors at 13lb and 18lb 2oz which was my new michigan pb mirror! This truly is a special place that I would like to do more session at to see what other mirrors hide here!

Btw the 2 mirrors I caught were recaps of two mirrors that our prez Andy had out 4 years ago!
