I doubt I will ever buy another float niw that I've seen this video! Lol

Here's a great video I came across on how to make floats. Basic tools and really simple!

WTG,

Once upon a time cat bells were clipped to the tip of the rod to notify the sleeping angler of a bite! The truth is there is a variety of alarms out there that serve a common purpose. It all comes down to the thickness of your wallet an it's options!

I'm not trying to preach here and have lost led while casting, playing fish and so on but the fact that you intentionally drop lead for the sake of landing a fish is kinda sad knowing the damage you can do in the long run. If your rig is set up right you really shouldn't worry about the fish as the rig is safe and is fish friendly allowing it to swim off max with a hook in its mouth that comes off in a few weeks!

Great catches Tristan, keep it up buddy!

There's something about carp runs that gets the heart pumping, good times for sure until next year this is all i have to keep me going :-(

Lead was a major issue with the sale of a local private water a few years back. The state (who eventually
bought it) declined to purchase it until the lake had been dredged to remove the lead shot from several
decades of trap shooting/duck hunting. The accumulation of lead in the lake didn't appear to have an impact
whatsoever on the fish. Was and still is a very decent fishery.Personally,I don't really see a problem with
dropping leads.I've done it on occasion.I can't see a lead here or there causing much damage to an
ecosystem. It has a time and a place.Far worse makes its way into our water/s.Gasoline,oil,
road salt,mercury,fluoride,the list goes on...
I think it starts with the individual, as stated there are tons of pollutants that make it into our waters! Lets try to minimize the impact we have on our ecosystem and protect it where ever and when ever possible. I'm sure the long term effects of lead are really bad as it is a poisonous substance that is proven so.

WTG! Good to know Lorne, thanks for the info, one thing though, why is randy tagging fish and is he keeping data of his tagged fish?

One thing I never agreed with or understood was the new methods used by many anglers where the lead pops off when playing a fish! Knowing that lead can do a lot of harm to the environment & being frugal, I did some research. Lead is a very harmful substance that can kill humans and animals alike if accumulated in the system. I recall a time where geese, swan and duck were falling ill to lead shots from anglers, ingesting them to grind up the food in their gizzards. I came across this video on YouTube informing us of the effects of heavy metals. Just a thought I wanted to share with you and hoping to shed some light on this subject! Hope i get my message across. Thanks.

I know this is off topic but I had to share it with you guys!

Here's short video on the monsters that lurk in Rainbow Lake France. The video was done by SBS tactical Baits. Enjoy!

Greate write up, amazing fish! Looks like it all worked out to your advantage! Cheers!!

Ever since I watched my buddy Shawn fish the float i have been infected and as fishing goes it arouses your curiosity, so I researched the subject and from every angler only one thing is obvious, it puts more fish on the mat! As you guys said its simple and effective. Maybe that's the secret, keeping it simple!

Will we ever see such a carp in Canada?

You guys are hard core. I would still be trying to feel my toes, its bad enough here in the kawarthas with the cold.
Great job guys. :D
Some awesome spots there in the kwarthas eh? Come spring you'll be a busy man hauling in those massive carp!

Welcome to the CAG. Yes carp fishing is addictive and once your hooked, your hooked for life. Carp fishing starts from May to January as many of the guys and girls who fish last year will tell you. You can also check out several of the channels on YouTube from local anglers from Hamilton & Burlington and learn alot of new techniques. Good luck and tight lines!

Great write up, awesome fish! Hope you get another chance to target carp before the big freeze!
