  1. Look's like the weather channel is calling for wind and showers tomorrow? (So far?). Hopefully some of you guy's will make it down anyway.

The best parking access is the big parking lot closest to the bay/ next to the wharehouse. There is a gap in the chain link fence to access the water. The wharehouse will provide some shelter from the elements as it will be blocking the SW winds they are calling for.

Check the Pier 8 fish-In thread for more details. Message me if you have any questions as I will check my messages later today.

Bring your rain gear and your lunch!

    See you there!

    Mark

I don't recall the weather guys giving accurate info. Warm clothes and a hot drink will sort you out. Go out & enjoy the last days before the big freeze! Hope you all have a good time and wet your nets & mats!!

  2. On a side note, it was Lorne ( hammercarp) who was the person responsible for having the CAG link on the MNR site for carp fishing. That was a few years ago now. Again, Nice work, Lorne.

Thanks Mark for the info, Great job Lorne, we all owe you one!

  3. Thanks to Google Earth, I was scouting for new venues and came across Tommy Thompson Park. If I were a carp, that's were I would hang out to feed & get laid! ( Excuse my French ) Then I did a bit more research and came across this video!

I think this venue has the potential to produce a massive fish! True that the fish can't get in but the vicinity will hold big fish! Check out the video and you'll see what i'm talking about. Bonus is that you can drive to the venue!

  4. As with all the carp I catch, I give them a VIP treatment! I recall a carp I caught from the Larry which had a lamprey stuck to its belly. Just as I would with a hooked in the mouth, I removed the lamprey but this time I fed it to the gulls! Everyone was happy! :icon_smoking::swimminfish:

Just to keep you informed, my mat got blown away into the river the previous day I was fishing. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( That's why you'll see the carp on the grass!

  5. Well should have been out this morning fishing but i have things to do today you know how it goes.

So i put on the box and watched a few fishing shows.

Fish'n canada, ontario carp tour. Not a bad show if you can get past the commercials.

Its the only show i have watched that they fish for carp.

You have to give it to these guys they don't think twice about pushing carp fishing in ontario how many other shows do that ?

It repeats all weekend if anyone is interested or you may get it on their web site.

Have a great thanksgiving. :swimminfish: :swimminfish:

Is there a website for them by any chance?

  6. :offtopicicon: Unfortunately the bills have driven me off to foreign lands :( and in the absence of Carp I am forced to target other species. Here's a short video of how a session goes! The season officially starts from the 25th of Sept. all the way to the end of March & some times even till early May depending on the Temp. Cheers!

  7. Another interesting observation is that i have never come across a carp with a ripped up mouth. All the fish i have hooked looked pristine and as if they were hooked for the first time. Is it the carp population so big or are they so resilient that they heal up so quickly?

  8. Many of us have fished the mighty Larry and know how difficult it is to land a fish ( Zebra Mussel, Powerful fish, Snags etc ). Ever wonder what happens to all the fish that were hooked but never ended up on a mat! Where they OK, what happened to the hook, how come we never catch a carp with a hook in its mouth ( at least I never have )? Just something to think about!
