  1. Great report Arvand.

Too bad about the trash. The guys from the Niagara region came up with an idea to help combat this growing problem. A Garbage Derby.. They got sponsors for prizes and had a real competition for who could clean up the most trash.

Sign me up buddy! This should help the anglers reputation with the elderly in the region. This morning there was a couple talking about a swan they had seen tangled in fishing line and hooks & that anglers are careless, they really gave me an ugly look as well!

  2. I was really itching to catch a fish after a big blank session at Dunnville's Fish masters so I decided to head out to LaSalle as the word was fish were biting. As usual woke at 4:30am dressed up and was out the door by 5am, quick stop at Mac D's for a coffee & Muffin and headed out to the venue. Got there before first lite, quickly set things up for a quick session as we had plans for lunch with the family. Chummed up a spot I thought would bring in fish and first cast shortly after. At first light I was disappointed by the amount of garbage fellow anglers / park users had left behind, but as usual knowing plastic bags come in handy, started collecting the rubbish.

First guest of the day was 6.5lb Crucian / Hybrid, it was the biggest I ever caught! Quick hook removal, picture and back she went. Quick change of bait, more chumming and another cast to get a proper carp. Not long and a screaming run produced a 9.2lb common.post-5857-0-97380700-1347842211_thumb.jppost-5857-0-51743700-1347842232_thumb.jp

Repeated the same routine and an hour past but all was not lost, today was an awesome day with a cool breeze and a bright sunshine. I was really enjoying myself and was just gazing at the water forget all the issues that clog up ones mind and before I knew it another screaming run, this time big brother was out & he was not giving up that easily but I'm no amateur at this either and big bro was quickly on the mat. By this time the batteries had run out and all i got was the screaming run & the action of playing the fish. All in all I had a total of 4 fish, nothing massive but it felt good getting into some fish!

  3. As the saying goes, cheap is expensive. Tell your friend to buy the right gear to get the max out of it. I broke two rods yesterday landing massive Salmon where my buddies rod didn't even say ouch! The price for the 2 cheaper rods would have got me a decent rod. I now leave the rest for you to decide. Good luck in your quest for the right rod!

  4. K1 all the way, price cant be beat for quantity/quality! They are active, high leakage, and look into their "wafter" - the wafter is a dream, critically balanced bait that has a real natural presentation without having to use shot to pin it down...........works awsome

happy hunting......look forward to more posts from you!

K1 wafters are an incredible bait, well balanced and a very deadly bait on the hair on its own. I also love mainline pop ups!

  5. Hybrids for sure, crucians are known for spawning with carp so these could be crucian goldfish hybrids. If you have caught it at Bayfront park, there are shoals of goldfish released by people in the harbor.

  6. Thanks to all for your great comments, looks like theres round two in the works. I personally believe the carp kicked our behinds as we lost way more fish than we landed. Payback time! Hopefully the next video will be only about runs and massive Carp!

  7. Good to know!

The Bird Sanctuary's Morrison Island will be the next venue. From what I heard only the big carp cruise those waters. Time allowing, maybe i'll be heading up there with a few buddies!

  8. Eh, you did better than me man! Grats on the big fish, as for the losses, I know how you feel i snapped off about 5x more fish than i caught in long sault.

Thanks buddy! From your avatar I can see that we both fished the same spot. 20 feet to the left of where you had your set up up a guy from Pennsylvania came by and was hooking fish after fish during the day when i had no runs! He was catching to the far left of his spot on only 1 rod ( he has 4 rods out ). The fish were anywhere from 8 to 15lb max, he thought they were bigger but the TOKS would never believe it, anyhow it was surprising to see that there were fish cruising that single spot and taking the bait. Next time I need to do some investigation myself!

Day one, we arrived on Friday at camp Pouladi on MacDonnel Island @ 11am. As usual the weatherman was wrong as we were expecting a sunny day at LS but were greeted with rain. With that said, the rain brought the fish around and at 6pm they started feeding. I hooked into a total on 15 fish that day of which I landed 2 and lost 13 to snags, zebra mussels and hook coming off. Friday offered the biggest fish which topped off at 26 lbs. Day two,4:30am, first cast and an immense run, could not stop the beast and eventually lost it, 5:15am and I got a 14lb. Almost all the fish I caught were on mainline high leakage pine apple pop ups and my home made tutti fruity & sardine boilies / mainline Indian spice pop up & home made spicy shrimp boilies. Some of the few fish caught during my 3 day session, a total of 8 fish with 26lb being the biggest. Many lessons learnt to be implemented next year. Had I landed all the fish i lost my trip would have been an awesome on. Video in the making, will post soon.
