  1. A Petition to Recognise Cyprinus carpio ( The Common Carp) and its Subspecies as a Non-invasive Fish in Indiana.

I would change this to something like "A Petition to Recognise Cyprinus carpio (common, mirror and leather carp) as a Non-invasive Fish in Indiana."

In the distant past, they were considered subspecies but that is no longer the case.

  2. Paul Pezalla, carp angler since the late 60's. Went to school at the University of Minnesota which is located on the banks of the Mississippi River so I spent a bit of time fishing rather than studying. Took a break of a few years while I had a real job and young kids but have been hard at it for the last 15 or so years. Have fished a few tournaments but now mainly fish the Chicago area, Lake Michigan and the Chicago River. Like Paul Wells, I do not consider winter to be an off season and, as of this morning, have caught Chicago carp every month for the past 130 months. Develop and sell (retail and wholesale) carp bait and tackle when I am not fishing.

  3. The "troubled loner" is the one with the political connections and the reputation as Carp King of Chicago. I will gladly follow and loyally serve.

I guess flattery is one of you many leadership skills. And it is effective.

So if I'm not mistaken, appears Chicago would like it to return for 2012? I'm all for it, not been to the Windy City in a few years.

    That just leaves 2011.

Yes, Chicago will try for 2012 and it would be good if discussion of that could move to the other thread on the topic.

Let's concern ourselves with 2011 here.

  4. I've been involved in planning and coordinating events that have involved substantially more people, more money, and more logistical complications. With that experiential background, I will often offer suggestions for improvement,

OK, you have convinced me that you are the guy to take the lead on this. :) My background is more "troubled loner".

Dealing with the city is the tough part. Once you get over 75 people for a public function, you need insurance and maybe permits from the city.

We will need the city behind us but I do not think that will be a problem. They (Bob "The Mayor's Fishing Guy" Long and the Mayor's Fishing Committee in particular) were upset that the CCC left Chicago and i expect we will get help from them.

  5. Organizer burnout was a big factor in it leaving Chicago. Back then, there was very little help available. Now, Chicago is loaded with competent and experienced tournament organizers; Larry ., Tracy J., Ernest K., Sam S, me...

I suspect we could get together and put on a first class event but I do not think 2011 is the year to do it. Because Dave scheduled his tournament the weekend of the CCC, the chances of a good turnout are greatly reduced. At least a few of the potential organizers are planning to fish Dave's event and, I imagine, a few CAG directors will as well. Even if the CCC were moved a week or two one way or another, it would still be a huge conflict.

2012 might be a possibility for Chicago.
