I would just like to say thank you very much Ian for the awesome gift of a Saxon Hexalite 2.75lb 12' rod as ways of the new members drive that you sponsored. The rod itself is a thing of true beauty & i would advise anyone who is after a quality rod to purchase one of these rods. I Will be buying a second rod to complete a set up. Can't wait to try it out & to start catching fish upon this rod.
Thanks a million, Dave.

Are there any body of waters near by, that you would be able to camp on?
Just to give those that don't wish to stay in a hotel an alternative ?

What about Buffalo carp Bob?. I have never seen them anywhere else. Are they a native species?
-
Interesting read Bob thanks.

Yep! i hope to get out & try the spot on the Maumee that i have been viewing all year for a couple of hours.

"I had problems with bugs in the sacks, and friend that runs a feed store said the larvae is in the feed already, and at about 95 degrees it hatches and they start eating. He said keep it cool, and the bugs don't hatch."
I hear ya, I empty the bags as soon as I get them home into buckets with air tight lids (Gama seals) and I never have issues with larva hatches.
Thanks for the info guys, i had a ton of moths & maggots flying outa my bins this summer

The casting competitions were done immediately after the fishing competition was over...prizes were awarded along with the fishing competition winners.
Sounds great Bob but after the comp is over for the day i will be looking to feeding for the day, lol.

NEVER even caught any fish in MI! only IN, looking forward to breaking this duck. Best renew my MI licence!!

Footnote:. have you ever tried pulling a 3 or 4 oz lead out of the mud after it has traveled 100+yrds?
Lol, better bring a spade.

Whenever the fishing got slow back in the UK we would resort to casting competitions. Accuracy & distance were always what we tried to achieve.
Accuracy could have been on the lake itself , but was much easier to judge by casting at a hoolahoop placed out in a field. The same went for distance casting.
I would be up for such a competition, but i think i will be spending my time fishing for this event.
Great idea for a future Cag competition though!!.

I feel for you Marshall. This thing took of so quick that I'm sure a lot of anglers have missed out on the chance to fish this event.
Still as others have said, its still a ways off & anything could happen or change. Hope you get a chance to be included. It sounds like you are more than a worthy competitor for this event!.

On another note, I just returned a couple hours ago from a visit to the river....wow is there a lot of space, but not many LONG stretches for more than 15 anglers that i feel comfortable opening up at this time.
With that said, i could have 2 more 15 person teams... Thinking cap is on
Sounds great to me. One of the worries that i know a few people had was that everyone was going to be fishing on top of one another.
Good stuff, thanks Andy.

ill loan you a finger stall to only watch you throw out your back trying.....
Lol, i will borrow that finger stall............just so you can watch me CRACK OFF instead, Ha ha ha.
Been a while since I've needed to cast over 100yrds.

Who says Gary, lol. I may have to do just that now just to prove that i could, lol, or else just go around the other side & dink it in the edgeWell over 100 yds across the river on average.you are not casting across....

Great stuff Bob. I'm surprised they had an auger long enough to get through 4' of ice & to keep the hole open!
Congrats Joe
