  1. I was also disappointed to not see more North American content, I don't place any blame on the editor or volunteers that made this issue possible but rather on the North American anglers themselves. These last couple naca's have been the slickest looking things CAG has ever put their name on, they look and read just like the e-magazines released by major carp tackle companies. This NACA is a truly respectable product, not something an outsider could easily dismiss as some rag trying to glorify a "trash" fish by any means. Dean you have set the bar high, if American carp anglers want their only carp magazine to be more American then we need to take this as a challenge to step our game up.

  2. Agree with Pawel Sander! More things to do in Chicago and Milwaukee! I am sure that Wacker baits would help!

Both of those venues are great and in my opinion better suited for the job than storey, I wasn't clear on one thing though, which one of you is volunteering to host the CCC in Chicago or Milwaukee?

  3. In Indiana we have always traditionally handed out plaques for big fish at our socials, the cost for these usually runs about $40. Is this something I could order and possibly be reimbursed for?

I would also like to order 30 brochures, 1set of medals and if their are any old nacas still in stock a dozen or so of those would be great.

  4. 2000 yds sends off a warning alarm for me, bulk spools tend to sit on the shelf for longer that a standard spool, mono starts to degrade after awhile especially if it was stored improperly. The first warning sign of decayed and weakened mono is dust or grit that gathers on your fingers when you spool a reel. Good mono should leave no debris. Big game has a high breaking point and a ridiculous amount of stretch which makes it extremely forgiving under the rod tip. I buy my big game from Walmart 15lb test in a small 900 yd spool, the Wally World by my house has a larger than average sporting goods section and the stock on the shelves is rotated out regularly so I have no worries I'm buying vintage line. I've tried power pro and at least half a dozen different monos in my relatively short carp fishing history and always find myself going back to big game.

  5. I'm surprised you've had that experience with big game? What test where you using? Where they break offs or hook pulls? I used the micro filament 8lb test power pro on reels loaned to me on a guided perch trip on Lake Erie, was great in helping me feel light bites out of deep water but that doesn't help much in a carp application but my guide swore by it.

  6. Please post up here if you plan on attending the social at lake Sylvan in Rome City Oct. 11/12. The social will start on 8am the 11th and end at noon the 12th. We will be fishing at the dam, I was able to speak to an appointed HOA member on the phone earlier this evening that assured me fishing overnight would not be a problem but to make sure we don't get any locals worked up I ask that we all refrain from setting up any bivvies or bonfires. I plan on making a pot of chili to share with everyone, if anyone else would like to bring anything be sure to post it up. Look forward to seeing everyone there!

  7. Going on vacation with the wife in two weeks to celebrate our anniversary at Fairfield Glade and will be taking a day to chase some nearby carp. I am looking for a spot within an hours drive that has features like nice scenery and public restrooms to accomodate my non carper wife, getting a new PB is not the goal. I have been considering Watts Bar but am open to suggestions, there are a few lakes within Fairfield Glade but I have been unable to find any info on carp other that a few mentions of grass carp. How has the bite been at Watts Bar? Has anyone fished in the area? Open to any advice or suggestions so I would love to hear anyones feedback.

  8. In most conditions, which is best; the hair and method or the hair and packbait? Looking forward to a few responses from those that use the hair rig.

    Regards

    Tom.

Tom, you don't know me but I thought I would let you know I was a little excited to see your name pop up when I clicked on "new content" your presence has been missed.

My question for the experts is, how deep is too deep? Most of us bank anglers lack the electronics to gauge exactly where the thermocline begins so when I'm fishing deep quarries and reservoirs I often find myself scared to venture outside the margins if I find the water to be deeper than 10-15 feet. What tactics can be used to determine where the dead water begins?
