Been getting some questions on what will be different for this event......
well here are a few of the Major differences----
1- the Corn Boil will me more "SOCIAL" in the past hardly anyone used the Corn we had made,,,,so we will have a boiler available,,,,but will not be wasting money on the actual boiling of the corn..
2) Some of the swims due to the dynamics of the city of Austin will be changed,,,,still hashing that out with the city,,,,trying to get meter permits as meters have been placed on some streets, and new parking regulations have gone into affect,,,we're working it all out ~~
3) there will be a 10% discount at the hotel for foods purchased in the restaraunt,,,,,
4 the peg draw will see a new format,,,,,,this has been suggested to tryu to assure that EVERYONE attending has a good chance at some AUSTIN PIGS,,,,,the draw wil be as follows:
When picking up your event bucket etc at the Thursday Social teams will draw a number which will be their number for drawing order for the Friday morning random draw.
Friday morning teams will draw in the order of the number received at the Thiursday Social- draw will be a random peg draw.
At the end of day one (Friday) the current positions will calculated and teams allocated a draw number for Saturday morning. The order will be in the reverse of the standings after day one (Friday). In the case that there are multiple teams with no fish from day one those teams will randomly pick their draw position before the Saturday draw. Ties for teams with the same weight will be decided by biggest fish, second biggest fish etc until the tie is broken
Saturday morning teams will pick the swim they want (walk off draw) with the team in last place choosing first continuing through the teams until the the leaders from day one (Friday) who will be last team to pick their swim
This should result in a much closer event at the end of Saturday and give those teams with the least weight from day one the chance to get a swim that produced fish on day two.Questions that you may have con be placed on this thread, and Keith Thompson, or myself will monitor them and respond to them accordingly....If you haven registered yet,,,,,,what are you waiting for?????there are already 12 teams on board, I have been advised that all of the CASITAS have been taken,,,,,,reserve rooms, and your place for this great, longest running Carp Angling event in TexasYou've got yo IN IT.....to WIN IT !!!! -

There have been many, many memorable times at this CAG event,,,,,,,
I remember when Andrew nailed a CORMORANT with a method ball, too cool,,,,got the bird in mid flight..... ( no picture available , except the one in my mind)
Or when our CAG president fished at the DOG SWIM and got his gear peed on,,,,
It always pays to read the signs :)
Or the time I conned a couple of gals at the pool to pose with the CAG banner
and not to mention the GREAT captures by a couple of MICHIGAN upstarts
or the great Husband & wife doubles--
Or pictures that I'm holding to get some "BRIBE" money for
so if you've got some pictures or stories start posting them here !!

Brid,
You read too much in-between the lines,,,,,,, if there is a true dissability, you can get handicap parking passes etc. I treat people every day with Arthritis, of all forms, some are pretty tough, others while having the monacle of that disease are able to function without difficulty,,,
You can have as many runners as you like, and you can speak with Austin about the Grass passes ( to my knowledge they are NOT given any more) and let's not fall on the wrath of previous ATC organizers, that's a cop out ! If I followed previous organizers, you would not be allowed to fish it,and that has NOT been the case !,,,, my only stipulation on the Grass pass, ( if it is in fact allowed) is that it be granted by a City Official for a specific dissability which has been confirmed by and meets thier standards for granting same, and that the holder of that pass follow and abide by all City Park Rules !
-
my understanding is that GRASS PASSES are no longer issued,,,,,,
I would assume that if there is a true dissablility, the person seeking dispensation for areas to fish or gain acces to will have to obtain special passes from the City, that would entail hqaving handicapped parking permits, etc, etc. We must follow the rules of the City and we are at thier mercy,,, So I suggest that you speak with Charles, and get it sorted out before the event, I have al;ready or am in the process of dealing first street bridge passes, and passes for the parking meters,,

25 Teams Maximum for the event,,,,,,,7 already registered,,,,,,Hmmmm let's see????? so that makes 18 slots left,,,

ONE HELL OF A WEEK END
guess Carl forget to tell ya....I landed 18 fish, Buffs, Grassers, and commons ( not counting the 2 kittys)
and
Carl landed about 20, an assortment of Buffs, commons and grassers ( not counting the turtle) average fish size about 23 pounds so that's around 874 pounds of fish for a day and a half session,,,,,,,
too bad Emma is a DEAD LAKE
and I lost 4or 5 and so did Carl, with hook pulls.......Great session !

when this was suggested I had reservations,,,,,,but after listening to the LOGIC behind the change, and after thinking about it a while, it seems like it just might reduce the "SKUNKING" of a few teams that travel a pretty good distance to come to the event,,,,,
nothing ventured,,,,,nothing gained
we'll see, but it seems like a good way to have everyone catch,,,I ,mean it's not a HARD CORE money event,,,it's a fun time CAG fish in
