Hi Rick -
Congrats again on the fish. I may be incorrect, but I always believed that Spawn Bound indicated an unhealthy retention of spawn and perhaps an accumulation of more than one year's egg production in the gut. Such a fish will appear grossly distended and may look like it is about to pop.
Your fish on the other hand, appears quite healthy and powerful. Certainly it is carrying spawn (as expected given the season.). I suppose I would say your fish is pre-spawn or perhaps carrying spawn, but I'd stop far short of calling it spawn bound. Of course, this could all be semantic nothingness rattling around in my brain. If so, pardon the interruption.
P.S. I'm also jealous! Congrats again.

Congratulations Rick! What an impressive fish. I'd say that fish, though pre-spawn, is not "spawn bound" but rather just a massive carp carrying a good load of spawn.
