  1. Scott, I own a tailor shop....... not a magic store
  2. "Director of Product Development and Marketing" And with a title like that he certainly needs a proper wardrobe....... I know just the place
  3. yeah yeah charlie i know!!! its just that i go for a quick session before i go to work on sat mornings and its a just a hassle when it rains to go straight to suit and tie from rain gear.
  4. kyle its very similiar to vanilla extract with somethin (not sure what ) added. I do know that in the winter and it is very cold out the something other seperates out and is whitish in color . I have caught with maize dipped in it. According to my sources you fish the pips on the hair ill let you know how it goes this weekend unless i get rained out .
  5. Congrats go out to Al and Wacker in the never ending pursuit of bigger and better fish and those items to catch them with.
  6. Karl we all have bad days and yours was definately a bad day , but if there can be a silver lining to the tragedy you witnessed it was that you, Karl, did the right thing and helped people(strangers)when they needed it most . For that there is always a reward, either today , perhaps tomorrow but for sure in the end .......... Mark
  7. Now thats service. one step ahead of ya Al and thats probably not easy.
  8. yes we've compared i got him by both length and girth ooops i mean height and girth
  9. That s great Karl i checked the Icast website very cool show I woulda liked to go see the fishing stuff. Did you see any neat items that we as fishermen should know about you know sneak preview stuff (non carp )?
  10. Karl i know no pop intended Common Carp who spawn 100's of thousands of eggs are in my opinion not in the same class for comparison to buffalo and wolves in regards to extinction probability /possibility. That is not to say i cant appreciate the desire to have them around for a long time. The comparison i was attempting to make was that in a closed environment (english venue) with a certain number of usually purchased fish there is a greater desire and need to keep the fish healthy and as injury free as possible. Angling techniques and practices were developed for those venues that until recently were unknown and foreign to the average angler here in the US, myself included and Ive been catching carp for over 30 years. I dont believe for a second that the slightly stouter hook shank on the wonderful ACS hooks Wayne sent will have a measureable negative(even with a micrometer) impact on carp in the USA.
  11. Raymie itsnot as if the fish didnt swim away to have another day of fighting the current and eating the odd crayfish or two. The hooks in question are stout full bodied hooks that provide a good hookset. as far as im concerned if im going to go fishing for any type of fish , it is going to involve there being a sharp piece of metal impaled in its mouth with a line attached to it. Besides this is the fricken potomac river not one of those closed off english paylakes were there is a finite number of fish to worry about . the fish i caught will live a long happy life they have more to worry about from the boat propellers than the little boo boo they got from my hook. o n that same note of fish saftey what about one of those two fish you caught yesterday one of them i believe became potential live bass / catfish bait are you now only specie specific in your care of fish ??? rub that
  12. i do think though its the strength of those fish more so than the hook .i know your not getting at me , as i wouldnt allow that I liked the fish holding aspects of the hooks and im gonna get more just for that reason alone I used small hooks at ATC and lost two very good fish due to that, one hook pull and one straightened completely out. Those fish in a tourney situation could have meant the difference between fourth place and in our case fourth place lol As you know i usually fish with 8s and 10's as thats what was originally told to me by the guy who first introduced me to this method of fishing (christian) he told me to always use the smallest hooks i could. I have been using the fox series 2 #10 size almost the size of a kernal of corn . Last weekend in Raystown i switched to size 6 penetrators (slightly offset) and didnt lose a fish after the switch. since as you knwo i do most of my fishing at the basin calm waters no structure to speak of the number 10's do just fine with the odd fish lost . But for the river fish swimming in the river ( basin fish are really river fish but no current to deal with ) im gonna go with a stouter hook such as the ACS for a surer grip. I know its gonna mean more fish to the net and less fish lost to hook pulls and the like. Smurf out.......
  13. Raymie i thought about it on the ride home yesterday and i am convinced that its not the hook so much as it is the fish strength and their runs and the size of their mouths and where they were hooked. If you remember Matts fish had the obvious signs of being hooked before and it wasnt pretty. Yes i am sure less trauma can be caused to any fish by using smaller lighter hooks however i am sure that a hook pull (think ripping flesh)would and does cause more damage than a well hooked fish and that the "wound" (small hole compared to possibly damaged for life flesh )caused by a well hooked fish will heal faster than a tearing of the flesh. Hey , thanks for being a sport and helping out with the net yesterday it was a fun day and i enjoyed sharing the bank with you and matt (the other commie)
  14. Today I "field tested" some hooks from ACS that wayne had graciously sent me to try. I fished three rods two with the ACS hooks and one with another brand All three were brand new and fresh out of the package. The ACS hooks were size four and six and the other was a size six. All three were tied with sufix magician braided hook link in 25lb test Of the six fish hooked up i landed four of them with hook pulls on two. The four landed were all on the ACS hooks two each on each of the sizes. The two lost were on the other brand. Not a perfect scientific test but i thought i would give you the results. The ACS hooks are very sharp out of the pack and are quite stout in demeanor. Raymie mentioned the fact he thought they might cause a bit more damage to the fish mouths as they were very securely hooked, took a little more effort to get the hooks out, but i believe a well hooked fish gets to the net and with the exception of a barbless hook there will be a certain amount of hook damage. The other point here is you have very strong river fish that just by the nature of their strength and length of run they will incur a bit more mouth damage. The barbs of these hooks are small enough that it is not required to bend the barb down. The river fish i caught yesterday had the biggest mouths you can imagine for fish of their weights . they were huge and i believe because of that they were hooked a little bit further back in the lip as their suck and blow with those mouths can only rival that of an industrial hoover. Thanks for sending me the samples Wayne, they worked the charm
  15. scott i simply stated that what goes on in one on one conversations in business dealings should stay one on one. and not be in a forum setting. I totally agree with you that the president is the voice of the company and it would be silly not to think his generosity is not self serving ...of course it is..... i would do the same . However if you and i had made an agreement of some sort in private and for whatever reason that agreement went south(#2 happens) i would expect the results of that to be kept private also certainly not voiced in a public forum. Having said that... I wasnt there and i didnt hear what was said or not said, so im outta this one
  16. The corn pellets work wonders ive used them with success and in regards to management and customer service, it is often very different from overseas companies and personnel. While they may feel they are doing the right thing by their standards, it is, way different than the way we do things over here. I deal with a french shoe company that thinks its bending over backwards for me and yet i feel they havent even started to bend , we are working it out and in the end it will all be good. While i personally havent had luck with the boilies i do like the pellets and the boilie stops and i also got a few helicopter rigs at the ATC as a prize and i like them too. Alex has been extremely generous with prizes and such at the CAG events and is in my eyes truly trying to do the right thing by us as a group. And it strikes me funny that someone who receives 18 lbs of bait for free(be it good or bad bait) thinks that the company is a rip off. What gets "promised" in personal one on ones i cant comment on and frankly speaking i think those type of problems should be handled one on one between the parties just as they were handled when the "promises" were made.
  17. geez Karl that explains it all You and chris have been huffing scopex dip. That is some very dangerous stuff known to cause all kinds of sociological forum maladies. I reccomend a quick detox program 1/2 ounce of Klinik on clean rag or arm if you prefer inhale deeply three or four times till ya cant stand the smell anymore and you will be cured
  18. chivalry is not dead Its just as we get older we start buying flowers for damage control rather than amour..... most of the time
  19. Question for Alex or Keith can you enlighten me and everyone else on the braid that royal Carp is offering . better or the same as power pro? only available in 40 lb test? what is diameter equivelent to mono? any other reports or comments on its durability?any one else using it and have anything to say about it ? What is Dyneema? I am wanting to respool three reels and i like the bulk size of the spool and dont mind keeping my money within the flock so to speak as BPS probably doesnt need it as much. Thanks in advance Mark
  20. Was just on the wacker bait site and paul has a great new item listed for all of us. And its free (with an order) 50 cents for additional ones. Paul thats a great idea thanks for making it available Just post them by your favorite fishing hole (and do the part of cleaning it up too)
  21. As they say these days "my Bad". Its often the "behind the scenes" people who make the rest of us shine. Thank you Alice for your hard work and dedication making Wacker Baits the shining star it is.
  22. Paul, I thought it fitting to post this here on the commercial section of our forum. Once again you have gone above and beyond in your providing great customer service.Thank you!! I emailed Paul to let him know of two broken parts of my Sky Pod , that were broken during the famed attack of the Blackhawk helicopter. Today I rcvd the replacement Parts and at no charge. I wasnt looking for a freebie but i got one and the unexpected act of kindness is truly and greatly appreciated. (and these were not small little parts ) That kind of service is what makes Wacker baits a great place to do business with and will keep me as a customer for a life. Once again Paul, Thank you. Mark Metzger.
  23. Listen its not about being to critical its about being just shy of slanderous about a business that is in its infancy and is striving to give fellow carpers quality products and service and a decent price. This is not about ACS this is a personal problem that has been blown out of proportion and is now getting ugly and is just plain childish in nature. I thought this whole thing was put to bed a while back and i can see that its now all about stirring up a hornets nest. I am a small business owner and i know how difficult it is #1 to get up and running and # 2 how difficult it is to keep it going and # 3 how difficult it is to continue to improve upon what you have been successful at. All points listed above are really difficult when you have a child, yes thats right boro, a man with a childs mentality constantly taking cheap shots at your business. Fer crying out loud stop it allready ,as i said once before it is old , boring and we dont want to hear your whining anymore. Didnt you yourself say you were done with this forum ? Well take your own advice and be done with it or if you choose to stay and contribute which by the way i feel you have in the past , do so with the intellect of a man and not the behaviour of a child.
  24. Tommy if it doesnt rain, thats tomorrow after works bait flavor of the day BBQ
