Savayman
How old do carp get? Well take a look at this iconic photo of my good friend Mike Wilson with a mirror he caught from the legendary Savay back in 1978. I just learned that this fish was not only seen in 2020 and but thought to still be alive today. Perhaps even more remarkable is that it was originally stocked back in 1951 as a 4" long fish by none other than Donald Leney. That puts this fish at an incredible 70 years old! It also highlights why proper fish care is so important and why we must protect Trophy (Specimen) carp here in North America. If you are not already a member simply click the link to join CAG!
