CAG Spring Big 4 2019...

I would welcome some input as we look ahead to planning this event. One of the key issues is which months to hold the Spring Big 4. Clearly timing of the spawn in different states is a key factor that influences the size of fish.

So first Question - which TWO months do carp typically spawn in your state?

Been doing some research on states in my area...

NJ: May/June. Best fishing time Apr 1- May 15.

PA: Same as NJ, exception Allegheny mountains / Lake Erie Apr 15- June 1

DE: May. Best fishing time March 15 - May 1.

NY: (Maybe late may?) June. Best fishing time April 15 - June 1. Exceptions Lake Ontario, St Lawrence river and Adirondack mountains, May 1 - June 15.

May/June spawn, but I've found it at times frustrating as spawnin carp ignore food for longer stretches........

OK, now I have a better idea about NJ/PA. In smaller lakes and rivers the spawn occurs around mid-May, but in the big river systems it often doesn't begin until the end of May. Ideal fishing time is still April 1 - May 15/20 though.

MA: June. Sometimes end of May.

Same seems to apply to the NY area where I now reside.
