Big Carphuna
Len, You mean WACKER BAITS, with mr Paul Pezalla President? Good news! Im sure they will be very well and reasonably priced, with the same genuine and true service one expects from WACKER BAITS!!
borofc
Scott Even better news still is that SPECIALIST TACKLE are looking into becoming a Diawa Distributor. That way they can stock the GW5000 BR.........it's the U.S equivalent of the Diawa Infinity 5000BR............normally retails at $249..........at todays rate.........133 pounds.............excellent reel for that price. Cause, WACKER BAITS does, and I know mr Pezalla will definately back up those great reels with great service. Diawa's? Paul Pezalla
The only bait deal Scott has gotten from WB&T is a free pound of my boilies for ATC. The only reason he got those is because he was promised a kilo of Mainline but they were inadvertantly given to someone else. I was afraid he would beat the crap out of me so I gave him the freebies. Not because we are friends, god forbid.
Damn Yankee
Now, Chris, will SPECIALIST TACKLE ever go into Shimano? Scott: If you go into Specialist's tackle shop in upstate NY you'd see they have their own rods equiped with Shimano Aero Technium 10000XT reels... Shimano's top reel... £390 rrp.. available from the chop-shops for $460 + tax, tip and gratuities (each)... Fran
Guest len perdic
Fran, It is a very delicate subject about product line and on which soil as a retailer you can sell...without going into detail, Shimano USA can stop a retailer from selling UK stock on USA soil. Unless they got a special permit to import that stock for resale value from UK into USA (which I highly doubt) as each Shimano is a separate entity and have product made specific for their market. ukcarperinusa
Shame!!!! And that sort of marketing is exactly why the price of gas amongst other things is what it is today!!! I see this everyday in my working life, fortunately there is always a way around such scenarios. I noticed that a famous reel manufacturer seems to be employing someone to monitor sales on e-bay, seems they are insisting that all items that us a specific word are been taken of the auction site at the demand of the manufacturer of a well know "free-spool/runner" . Kinda' like 'Hoover' being a generic term for a vacuum cleaner in the UK, people are not stupid they know that all vacuum cleaners are not Hoovers............ Same as free-runners are not Baitrunners, although they do the same thing. Strange thing this "business' World Karl
Guest len perdic
You might say shame, but it is a safe business practice...I said that I would not go into the political side but will give you an example why it is safe business practice. Shimano has built a reputation for it's quality and warranty and each country/continent has it's own demand for certain type of product. If USA allowed a store to buy a line of products from UK and sell them in USA, then they are liable for the warranty (if Joe walks into store ABC and buys a UK version Shimano reel and that reel has a defect, he looks at the warranty and calls Shimano USA. Shimano USA has no trained staff or parts to fix that reel, so you compromise customer satisfaction and reputation of having efficient warranty)...also do not say that they should just send it to UK and have it fixed there as it would ultimatly not be cost efficient. As for the other part about e-bay, well every company does it as they get tired of paying absorbent fees to have the "rights" or "copy right" trademark so that it can not be copied, so every once in a while if someone is blatanly infringing they will get testy. Hope this helps, Len.

Len: I'm sure that's true. But most of the guys are just looking for some of the state-of-the-art products that are available in the UK and not the USA. Many of the US carpers buy from Specialist Tackle in the UK and have it shipped here. Others swear by Tackle Box, Leslies, Tackle Shop etc. Others swear at them. Buying from the UK is no different than buying here in the USA. Matter of fact sometimes I think Shimano UK is easier to deal with than Shimano USA. They send parts to the USA but Shimano USA now directs you to a local service center. They don't have the part I need so it's special ordered from Shimano USA and 2 weeks later I have it.
